Chapter 11

Abby My eyes are heavy and foggy. I feel extremely cold. There was a warmth covering my body earlier that is missing now. I feel the pillows and comforter that is covering me. It's still night time by the looks of it. Looking around the dark room, I realize I am in my bed. How the hell did I get here? The last thing I remember is watching movies on the couch. One of them must have carried me to bed. That is kinda sweet, I must admit. Looking at my clock, I see it's three am. My throat is dry; I need something cold. I am awake now, might as well head down to the kitchen to get a powerade. Deciding not to wake Arkyn just to get something from the kithen, I walk barefoot out of my room. It is at the end of the hall on the third floor, right next to it was a guest room where Arkyn is sleeping in. There are four more rooms on the right side with mine. We normally use those for Alphas and their Luna who comes to visit. Across from my room is a nursery for future pups for the Alpha and Luna and then we have 2 more guest rooms before the two offices, First is the Alpha's office which will soon be mine and then the Luna's office. We have to convert that also to an Alpha's office as soon as I find my mate. I will still be the Alpha of this pack, but everyone has to call me Luna by wolf laws. The Alpha and Luna runs the pack together with the Beta and Gamma. If they have a mate, they become Beta and Gamma as well. Sneaking silently down the hall, I saw that the door to the Alpha's office is open slightly, a dim light coming from the office; probably from the lamp on the desk. From where I am standing, I can hear two voices, but the figures are dark. "You have to tell her eventually." A male's voice come out in a whisper. I can't clearly hear who it is. "I know. I just don't want to overwhelm her. She already has so much on her plate right now on top of the ceremony this week." Oh. I know that voice. What is my father hiding from me? "But what about this? Do you think this will have any effect or consequences on the events of the evening?" I can't see what they are talking about. I need to find out more but I can't risk showing myself. Better to go down to the kitchen, I don't want to hear anymore. I am clearly awake now, but I will question my father later; my head is still with Kat. It has been a few hours, so I am wondering if anyhing has changed. The kitchen is eerily quiet, a silence that I was hoping for. Opening the fridge, I saw a drawer with a little note with my name on it. Oh, Mrs Samuels, I am thankful for you now. Opening the drawer, I saw a few powerades, cans of mixed berry juice, ice teas, a few ready made BLT's, fruit cups and plastic containers filled with hot wings with cups of ranch sauce. She has been working for us since she turned nineteen, so I was not surprised when she knew all my favorites. Deciding not to use the microwave, I skipped on the wings and grabbed a powerade and a strawberry cup instead. Usual midnight snack time for the Luna at the table in the kitchen. Sitting down, I take a sip of the powerade and start snacking on the strawberries. The kitchen doors open and to my surprise I see Luca strolling in and opening the fridge He doesn't even see me as I am sitting in the dark. Time to scare him. "Midnight Snack?" I snickered, making Luca jump and turn around to look at me which made him hit his back against the door. "Gosh Luna. You scared the s**t out of me. I wasn't expecting anyone in the kitchen at this hour. How long have you been sitting there?" He laughed, getting food and a soda out. "A while. I couldn't sleep so I came down to drink something. How about you? Couldn't sleep either?" Asking as I pop another strawberry in my mouth. "Yeah, this whole thing with the border being open from the inside is bothering me. Where is your scary bodyguard? I don't see him snacking in the dark, scaring the life out of unsuspecting warriors?" Laughing, he throws a veggie stick in my direction, taking a drink and opening his burger. "I swear, mrs Samuels has the hands of an angel. This food of her is heaven," he basically moaned while taking a bite, "The takeaway system you implemented works great as well. It's much easier then sitting down everytime; we can just grab and go after training." He stated while taking another bite. "I didn't want to wake up Arkyn just so I can get a midnight snack. I believe I am safe in the packhouse, and really? You call him scary? Why because I don't think he is." I raised an eyebrow looking at him. Does he really think Arkyn looks scary? He doesn't look scary to me. "Are you kidding me? He is huge and the tattoos doesn't help either, and what is up with his hair? Dante told me Arkyn is the older brother at 29, but damn that hair is so weird. I don't normally see male wolves with white and blue hair. The only people I know with that hair is the fae," he remarked in a whisper while drinking the soda, "And its not just me. After seeing them both, all the warriors are, how should I say? Intimated by the brothers, especially Dante. He isn't as big as Arkyn, but everyone is wondering how he killed the men that attacked the pack, without weapons. There had to be atleast twenty of them, judging by the body count, and he did it alone, without anyone there. It makes me wonder." He stares of distantly, a look of pondering evident on his face. "We can worry about it later. I think we both need some sleep" I take the last bite of my fruit cup and rinsed out the cup at the sink. Luca stands up to throw away the polysterene container and can. and came to stand next to me. "I agree but like together?" He winked at me, that cute grin of his on his face. "No you i***t, in your own room. You ain't coming back to mine again." I giggled back at him, splashing him with water. Luca and I had a few nights together a few months back. We developed a close friendship over the years with working and training together. We still banter about it from time to time. We were both without mates, and the opportunity presented itself. Luckily we both knew it was a no feelings attached kinda thing and we were both waiting for our mates to find us or we find them. "Now I have to change my shirt, you sneaky thing" He said with a sarcastic tone, his voice changing to a low timbre. "Don't blame me. You brought this on yourself", I snapped back at him while snickering. We both walk up stairs together "Goodnight Luna, hope you can get some sleep." Luca commented while going to the warriors floor. "You too Luca", I answer back as I'm going up to my floor. The office door is closed now. I can't tell if anyone is in there because all the rooms were soundproofed in the house. No light on either. Heading back into my room, I decided to switch on the television in the small living room area of the room. Putting on my favorite series for some background noise, I started scrolling through online stores, looking for a Luna dress. I wondered if I should postpone the ceremony. It should be done on the next full moon as that is when the Alpha's power will be the strongest and that is only this Saturday evening. This beautiful evening dress caught my attention after a few minutes. It's from a place called Ivory Boutique. It says here wedding dress, but it doesn't look like one. An elegant deep red wine ball gown, long sheer lace sleeves with intricate detail with a sweetheart neckline, beaded bodice with open back with beaded appliques that flows into the skirt of the dress. I am completely amazed by it. No Luna of the Frost Pack has ever wore a red dress to the Luna Ceremony. Deciding to break tradition, I check my size, entered my credit card number and hit the order button. They will probably get my order in the morning. I already have a cute pair of high heels to go with it, so no need to buy shoes which is a win for me. After a few minutes of watching an episode, I decided it was time to hit the bed. Luckily there is no training today, so I can sleep in late. Crawling into the coldness of my covers, still missing the warmth from earlier, I close my eyes and try to get some sleep. Just as I doze off, in the void between sleep and half awake, I felt someone pulling on my mind link Luna, I get the feeling you are awake. Doctor Matthews voice came through my head. My eyes shot wide open, I start to worry about Kat. Yes I am. Is everything okay doctor? Already out of bed, I hurry to put on my slippers, and open my door. I went to knock on Arkyn's door, but decided not to. He needs the sleep. Can you come to the hospital for me, please? Yes, I am already on my way. I ran to the hospital using my wolf speed, knocking in front of Kat's room. Opening the door, doctor Matthews looks at me with a beaming smile filled with pride. "Is she okay? What happened?" I ask frantically. Stepping aside, he shows me my sister. She is sitting up in the bed, a nurse helping her with a glass of water. She looks up at me and smile, even though her eyes are tired, there is a bit of happiness in it. "Hey you hoe" came out in a croaky voice with a weak smile. I couldn't bite back the laugh that forced to escape my lips and I burst into tears. "Oh my goddess, you're okay." I rushed over and engulfed her into a hug, not letting go of her for a few seconds. "Um, Abby, not to be rude girl but you are crushing my lungs. It's still healing you know." I let go of her but let my hand rest on her back. "How are you feeling? Considering you were in a coma a few hours ago." I ask, helping her drink water from a straw. "I feel like s**t, and I am very tired, and my throat is dry. I was in a coma? how?", she asks, closing her eyes while drinking the water I gave her. "I can answer that for you" the doctor answered, stepping forward. Me and Kat both looked at him, waiting for him to continue. "Me and Mr Arkyn concluded that the dagger you were attacked with was infused with wolfsbane, most likely done by a dark witch with the help of a spell. When you blocked his attack, the dagger not only cut into your main artery sending the wolfsbane straight into your bloodstream, it also enhanced the wolfsbane by the spell the witch used. The wolfsbane went faster through your blood and veins then what it was supposed to and cause your body to go into shock which in turned caused your wolf to force your body into a coma as fast as she could so that she can start the healing process" He explained to us, both of us looking at him in shock. I didn't know our wolves could do that. Why did nobody ever explain this to me. Kat looked at me with a worried look. "Is Arkyn okay? and what happened to the guy that attacked us?" She asked with tears in her eyes. "Arkyn is fine. I will tell you later. And he killed him, snapped his neck". She breath a sigh of relief, that same washing over her face. "I would like her to stay for a few more hours just to check if everything is fine, but I could release her later in the afternoon, but in the meantime you could sleep here in her room. I will roll up an extra bed. He turned to leave. "Thank you doctor" I went to hug him and he returned it. "Get some sleep, both of you", he left the room with that. "I am glad you are okay." I tell her. "Let me sleep you cunt, and you get sleep as well. You look like death standing at my door." Kat chuckles with her eyes closed.
