Chapter 10

Dante Waking up this morning felt very different from waking up at home. It was strange to see the sunlight coming in from the light grey curtains, to feel the wind blowing in a fresh breeze that smelled like honey and fresh sweet peaches. I looked at the clock and realize it was early in the morning. Yesterday was a whirlwind of drama. First with the vampire attack which Phoenix was glad for since it had been a while he has been in a decent fight, and then I found out the Beta was attacked at the shopping centre, with wolfsbane no less. Crossing my arms behind my head, I thought about my decision to join Arkyn at this pack. The change of scenery of luscious green mountains and trees was a welcoming change from the constant snow at home. I could feel Phoenix was different here. He absolutely loves the open forests that he can run in. Hey Phoenix, you up yet? Go away. It's still early. Why are you waking me up so early in the morning? Want to go for a run and then maybe a swim afterwards? Did you say swim???? Like in a pool??? I can hear him up standing up, wagging his tail so loudly in my head. I haven't swam in a pool since I was about 6 years old and ever since Phoenix awoke on my eighteenth birthday, he begged me to go swimming and hasn't let up since. Didn't you see the big pool out back? I am sure if we if we ask the luna nicely, we can swim wheneer we want while we are here. The visual image of him nodding is making my own head spin. Okay, calm down. I am sorry that we haven been able to go swim but you know how our missions have been. We were never just going along for the ride. Even when all this is over and we go back home, we can ask to come visit, okay? Phoenix whimpered in my head at the thought of going home. I don't like it either but we are here from a job. To be the bodyguards of ranked females has been the less dangerous job of what we had so far; although it feels good to be doing something like this. The change of pace felt good. I decided to lay in bed a little longer before going out for a run. I didn't want to go alone, so I decided to see if Arkyn was up already. Hey brother, you up? I want to go for a run. Getting dressed now. Meet you at the stairs in five? Yes!! I got up and got dressed in shorts, my running shoes and a basketball shirt. Everything was still in my bag. I need to remember to ask Arkyn how long are we staying for; I need to know if I can unpack. We both didn't bring much, but maybe we need to go shop for a few things. Walking down the stairs I run into Arkyn on the top of the stairs coming down from the Luna's floor. "Morning. How did you sleep?" I question as we walk down the stairs together to the back doors. "Actually good for a change. That bed is soft." We both laughed as we open the doors. "Where is the rest of the pack?" I ask as we both went behind the trees to shift. "I think its still early. It is a Sunday after all. Maybe there isn't training on the weekends?" He questions as we see that no one is out and about the time we are up. "And Abby? Do you know if she is awake yet?", I ask folding my clothes. "I have no idea actually. We can't link each other since we aren't pack members" "Can we swim after our run? Phoenix hasn't been in a swimming pool yet?" Arkyn chuckled at my request. Sure I don't think Abby will mind." We put our clothes at the base of the tree. "First one to the pool wins!" Arkyn announced while shifting and took off into a run. Scoffing, I shifted as well and gave over control to Phoenix. He stretched his paws, getting ready for a sprint. I don't care if Chaos or Arkyn wanted to race me. I wanted to enjoy the view, something I rarely do. We decided to run the pack territory, inside the walls. The area was pretty big with mountains and trees keeping the Frost Pack hidden within. I was happy to run past a few pack shops including a small coffee shop and a candy shop. We would have that check that out later. The pack came with a small school. I realied I have never seen a pack with a school before. Most childen were either home schooled or had to go to a school outside the pack. . What surprised me most was that we came upon a small stream running through the pack filled with small wildlife. I keep picking up the sweet smell of peaches and honey. I figured they have peach trees growing on the terrority. After running side by side with Chaos for a few miles, we decided to head back. Chaos took off in a full run; heading for the backyard of the packhouse where the pool is. I came full circle when I saw Chaos jump into the pool, still in his wolf form. Phoenix wagged his tail and stopped a few yards away. Can I? Please? Go ahead wolf. I'm not stopping you. Watching through Phoenix's eyes, I saw him run straight for the swimming pool; luckily Arkyn climbed out already. Phoenix is about to make a huge splash. The feeling of pure happiness hit me as his paws landed in the water. This is the first time that this overwhelming warm feeling hit me; thanks to the bliss Phoenix is feeling. With his fur all wet, we truly smell like wet dog, but I know he couldn't be happier than he is right now. I couldn't help but laugh as he is experiencing something new. "Hey Phoenix. you enjoying the pool?" Arkyn asked. He already shifted back to human form. He nods his head vigoriously with his tongue sticking out. "Time to get out. We have things to do" He shouted at us. After swimming around the pool for a few minutes, Phoenix climbed out and shook off his wet fur. We went behind the tree where we put our clothes and shifted back. "So I wanted to ask. Do you know long we are staying for?" I ask as I'm putting on my shorts. "Actually I wanted to talk to you about that. I was wondering if you want to go shop for lothes today? Since Abby isn't going to leave the gates anytime soon with Kat being in the hospital and all, I figured it will be safe for us two to go out and get a few clothes and maybe extra stuff that we need for the stay here. I get the feeling we are going to stay a while, with everything going on. I don't want to leave them alone, especially with the two vampire attacks yesterday." He stated while tying up his shoes. "I am glad to hear we are staying a while. Phoenix is inlove with the greenery of this place, not to mention the swimming pool." I nod my head in that direction. Arkyn laughed at my statement "I am inclined to agree with him. This is different from the snow. Chaos loves the forests that is surrounding this area. He hasn't been in a forest for a while." We talked about being in Ireland for the first time in our lives. In the packhouse, everyone seems to be in a happy mood. Abby came running towards us with a huge smile. She looked very different from last night. "It worked!! Kat's awake!!" She screamed as she was near us. She ran straight into Arkyn's arms with that big smile of her and he picked her up as if she weighed nothing. "Hey, shorty, where is my hug?" I arch my eye brow at her. Arkyn let her go and she came to give me a hug as well. Her happy demeanor was different from the tired person I met yesterday. "I am very glad to hear that. I told you she will be okay," Arkyn told her, "When will she be released?" "The doctor told us that he needs to run a few more check ups, but she will be released from the hospital later today. Then you can finally meet her, Dante. I am sorry that we didn't introduce you sooner, but you will formally meet everyone tonight with the dinner Mrs Samuels is hosting. I don't want to overwhelm her now, she is still trying to process everything that happened." She states with a shy smile, and out of the corner of my mouth I can see Arkyn with blushing red cheeks. "Go to your best friend Abby, she needs you right now. I wanted to speak to you anyway. Is it fine if we can borrow one of the pack cars? Since we are staying a while, we need to buy more clothes and personal products. I figured today will be a good time to get that out of the way while you aren't leaving the territory, and we need to go buy suits anyway." Arkyn asked. "For what on earth do we need suits for?" I look between the two of them. That question earned me two slap behind the head "Ouch, what was that for?" I ask while rubbing the back of my head. "If you are wondering, the first slap was for the fact that you called me shorty and the second one is because I can't believe you forgot about my luna ceremony." Abby huffed at me with a death glare on her face. "I am sorry okay." "And I kind of liked shorty. I just felt like being mean," She smiled and winked at me, "Go do your shopping and drive around a bit. i am spending the day with my sister and then we will be in the lounge for the rest of the day. You can meet us there when you are done. Just wait here, I'm getting one of the keys to the Tahoe. You won't be driving my car alone to town, again" She skipped happily to the office on her floor, returning with the keys a few minutes later. "Go, explore. Do you want something to drink or eat before you go? Our chef is making breakfast now. "Coffee to go, pretty please?" Arkyn pleaded. What the f**k was going on with him. He never said pretty please. Is he turning into a love sick puppy? After we both showered, we head down to the kitchen with Abby. "What fine young men do we have here" I heard a sweet voice as we walk into the kitchen. "This is Arkyn and that is Dante" Abby pointed out. She gave the lady in the kitchen a hug as we stepped in. "Guys, this is Mrs Samuels, our head chef." "Hallo boys. It's nice to meet the young men protecting our precious Luna," She greeted both of us with a hug. She looks sweet, almost in her 50's with short brown and grey hair, "I hear you boys want coffee to go?" "Yes ma'm" Arkyn told her. She made to travel cups full with steaming coffee and gave us the milk and sugar to add to our liking. "Bye everyone, we will see you later". We both gave Abby a hug and left. "What the f**k is wrong with you?" I ask Arkyn as we both climb into the car and open the garage. "Nothing. Why do you ask?" He questions while reversing. "You never say please. Nevermind pretty please. Did someone bewitch you or something?" I question. He gave me a wicked smirk as we drive out of the gate. - "Hey, you think we can get a late lunch now? That coffee and starters we bought at the bar didn't last long." I ask while we are walking out of the shopping centre. After walking around the whole day and buying clothes, shoes and toiletries, the breakfast that we had reminded me again that we are werewolves and need to eat a lot. The snacks lasted a while but I need a burger now. "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Let me just google for a place that has good food. We climbed into the car only to realize it was five o clock and then we have an hour's drive to the packhouse. "Lets go to Gotham South. They look they have good burgers and steaks. - It was already dark when we made it back to the packhouse. Arkyn called Abby to let her know that we will be late. She didn't mind as they already ate but kept food plates for us. Taking our bags out, we step into the packhouse and the peaches and honey scent overwhelmes my senses tenfold. Go. Run. Phoenix shouts in my head Dropping my bags, I follow the scent straight to the living room. I couldn't help myself. I roared. "Mate!!!!"
