Chapter one
Anna woke up to the sound of someone picking the locks, she quietly put on her sleeping robe and picked up a wooden stick beside her bed. Her heart was beating so fast as she tiptoed close to the door trying not to make any sound so the intruder would not know she was awake, and also not to wake her three-year-old son who was sleeping peacefully on the bed. As soon as the intruder succeeded in opening the door halfway she went to action by swinging the wood on his head. “My head, my head,” he screamed out in pain as he fell on the floor. The door flew open immediately as another man behind the door kicked it, she saw two cars parked outside with their headlights on. She recognized a figure standing outside close to one of the cars, Kelvin. She ran to pick up her son who was crying, awoken by the noise they made. “Please don’t take him away from me” Anna knelt crying as she begged her husband whom she ran away from two years ago. He slowly approached her, pushing the remains of her broken door out of his way in anger, he slapped her hard and she fell over shaking with fear. “You think you can run away from me and I would never find you?” Kelvin asked screaming. Torches from different directions were pointed at her face, she used her hand to cover her eyes. Her child was snatched away from her by one of the intruders. “ You kidn*pped my child and brought him here to suffer, how dare you!!!.” Anna was dragged out of her house into the vehicle while her neighbors watched from their windows, they were too scared to help.
Anna woke up with her hands and legs tied to a chair. “Where is my baby? Mario!!!,” she screamed out loud severally but no one answered her. She couldn’t tell where she was or what time it was, she was alone in a dark room but through the window, she saw a little glimpse of light, she could tell it was daytime even though she didn’t know how long she had slept.
She raised her head when she heard the door open. “After everything I did for you, you had the guts to run away with my child, look at him looking like a commoner, the only child of a billionaire. He does not even remember me, his father who provided the best things for him before you ran away with him, you ungrateful b***h. You thought I wouldn’t find you, huh?” he said laughing. Even in his laughter, you could hear anger and bitterness in his voice. “Even if you run to the ends of the earth I will find you, my dear wife. And before I forget, your Prince Charming who helped you escape is dead, his sloppiness led me to you.” He had a smirk on his face when he told her that Lucas was dead. He walked close to her, spat on her face, and slapped her hard. He spent two years looking for her, if not because of Lucas who was caught in his cousin’s house he wouldn’t have his wife and his son back home today.
Even though she looked like she had suffered so much since she ran away he still fancied her, she was his type of woman from when he was a teenager. Pretty face, full lips, big boobs, long dark brown hair, slender legs, blue eyes and six feet tall. He paced around the room while staring at her. “Why did you run away from me? Was I that bad to you, you had everything many girls would kill to have but you decided to throw it all away.” He looked at her while he waited for her answer. Anna wasn’t scared of him anymore like she used to, she wasn’t that insecure and quiet little girl he forcefully got married to, the little girl who never said no to him. She regretted ever needing his help in the first place for her mom’s surgery, a help that made her indebted to him even after losing her mom. “Speak up you little witch,” he yelled at her. Anna looked him dead in the eyes and said nothing, she knew he hated being ignored when he expected people to talk or do something for him.
Kelvin went to see Anna later that evening, he was holding Mario who pulled his hands away from him and ran to his mom when he saw her. “ Mummy I’m scared, mummy please let’s go home,” little Mario cried while dragging his mom thinking it would free her from where she was tied. Anna couldn’t hold back herself anymore. “You want to know why I ran away with my son right? You really want to know huh?” she asked him angrily. Kelvin nodded, he knew bringing Mario would trigger her and make her talk. “You did so many hurtful things to me, you were abusive right from the beginning of our forced marriage. First of all, you r***d me on our wedding night even when you knew I was a virgin, and that was the beginning of constant r****g, I hated s*x because of you, and I had to do it every night except when I was in my time of the month, or was it the time I was rushed to the hospital after giving birth at home due to complications because you refused me to give birth in the hospital saying all the women in your family never did, is it when you were dating my best friend and turned her into a spy so you could find out about my every move from her. You never treated me right for one day, and now you have the guts to ask me why I ran away with my child, even if you take me back to Mexico I will run away again with Mario even if it means killing you and I am not bluffing,” she yelled out. Even though she had more to say, she just stopped talking. Kelvin stood still staring at her, he felt no remorse at all for everything he did to her. He didn’t want to hit her in front of their child, so he pulled Mario away from her and carried him out of the room with him screaming to his mom for help.
“We are going back home,” Kelvin said as he woke Anna up. He came prepared because he knew she wouldn’t want to go back with him, he knew she was going to cause a scene. He hired a helicopter which was outside with the pilot waiting for his instructions to take off. “I am not going with you back to Mexico, it’s either you kill me or leave me and my son alone,” Anna screamed. Kelvin walked close to her and then behind her, he injected Midazolam into her arm and she fell asleep almost immediately. “You can come in now,” Kelvin screamed. One hefty-looking guy came in and carried her on his shoulder, while he went in search of Mario who was being looked after by one of his men. Cancun was just two hours, and twenty minutes away from Mexico City.
Anna woke up on her bed, she was back in Mexico, back in her old room. She couldn’t stand up so she dragged herself to sit down resting her back on the wall. She used her last strength to call out the housekeeper’s name, but no one answered her. She finally decided to go back to sleep hoping to feel better when she woke up. Anna heard a knock on the door before it flew open, Mario ran inside her room and climbed on the bed jumping up and down, he hugged her and gave her kisses on her cheeks, and she hugged him back crying and apologizing to him. Kelvin looked at them in admiration, he missed his family, and he was happy that his family was finally complete again after two years of searching for them.
