Chapter Eleven

1998 Words
I’m playing in my room with some dolls, but I don’t feel happy at all. Instead, I feel as if I am in pain. I hear the front door open and run to see who it is. I find a seven-year-old Kino in the entrance. Miki: "Kino!" I run to hug him. He chuckles and hugs me. Kino: "I missed you too, Angel." Miki: “Kino, where have you been?” Kino: “Just making sure the grounds are protected. Don’t worry, my sweet little Angel, father will not get you.” Miki: “Thank you, Ki-nii. I love you so much.” My five-year-old self kisses his cheek. I can’t get last night's dream out of my head. I told Reiji I was going to the bar with my Mukami brothers. He begrudgingly let me leave when Ruki picked me up. Once we arrived, the four of them sang Diablo. Yui and I clap for them as they join us at our table. Miki: “You were amazing.” Yui: “I didn’t know you guys could sing. It was beautiful.” Kou: “If you think we're good, you should hear Miki.” Miki: “Unfortunately, I'm not next. Someone else is.” Kino appears onstage, singing Destiny. I can’t help but think about last night’s dream while he's performing. Was it a dream or a memory? I just can’t remember. Kino winks at me when he finishes and it’s finally my turn. With last night’s dream in my head, I’m nervous to sing this time. I end up singing You Are The Only One. Then Speechless. When I finish, I surprise everyone by calling Yui up with me. She is nervous as the song starts, but seems to get the hang of it. We sing I Kissed A Girl. Yui and I sit at our table and my brothers rave about my performance. For the rest of the night, we have fun with the Mukamis and when the night ends, I leave them to go back to my Sakamaki brothers. On my way home, Kino joins me. Kino: “My dear Angel, you look lovely.” Miki: “Kino, what did you mean by ‘at last we meet again’ when we were in the classroom?” Kino: “I think you know what I meant, my little Angel.” He leans over my frame. Kino: “I missed you, my sweet Angel. That was not the first time we met. However, with how many times father has electrocuted you, I feared you'd forget me. It seems my fears have come true. Someday I hope you'll remember me, my little Angel. Until then, I will take my leave.” He kisses my cheek and leaves. The next evening, I'm eating lunch in my classroom, when a girl walks up to me. I recognize her as Asuka, the girl who sits in front of me during class. Asuka: “Hi Miki-san. I was wondering if you could help me?” Miki: “That depends on what it is you want, Asuka.” Asuka: “Uh, well, I was wondering if maybe you could help me confess my feelings for your brother, Reiji.” I growl internally, about to reject her as I stand, but an idea strikes me before I respond. I smirk as I put a hand on her shoulder and smile. Miki: “I’d love to help. Why don’t you write a note asking him to meet you somewhere? That way you don’t have to confess in front of others. Like, let’s say, on the roof after school.” Asuka: “Oh, that's perfect. But how do I give him the note?” Miki: “I’ll deliver it.” Asuka: “Thank you, Miki-san. That is so nice of you.” I inwardly smirk as I give her the pen and paper. She quickly writes down what I suggested and hands me the note. I walk out of class and teleport to Reiji’s, leaving the note there. After class ends, I teleport to the roof, hiding to the side of the entrance, so I may listen to what happens. I see Reiji waiting on the roof. He looks toward me, but before he can spot me, Asuka comes out and shyly walks toward him. Reiji: “So you were the one who left the note.” Asuka: “Yes, Sakamaki-sama. I have something to tell you.” Reiji: “What is it?” Asuka: “I have been an admirer of yours for some time now, Sakamaki-sama, and I wish to be your sweetheart.” Reiji: “I decline. I know not who you are and do not find you interesting at all. Now leave and stop wasting my time.” She starts crying. Asuka: “H-How could you be so cold to me? You’re so cruel.” She runs away, crying even louder. I smirk and just as I am about to teleport to the limo, Reiji is in front of me. Reiji: “Miki, why are you spying on me?” Miki: “I-I wasn’t.” I look at the ground, but he lifts my chin, so my eyes meet his. Reiji: “I love you, my darling Miki. You are the only woman for me.” He kisses me passionately, making my knees weak. Miki: “Rei-nii, I love you too.” With that over, we get in the limo and return home with our brothers. I open my eyes to see my brothers surrounding me, each holding a hand out. All eleven of them. My father appears before me. Karlheinz: "You must choose one, before the blood moon." Miki: "What do you mean? What am I choosing for?" He and my brothers disappear as a sense of fear rushes over me. I look around frantically before a pair of wolves appear and start chasing me. I run as fast as my legs can carry me, to no avail. I am tackled from behind, feeling the claws sinking into my shoulders. A burning pain as if I am being ripped apart erupts from my back. I turn around to see a pair of golden predatory eyes staring at me, while blood drips from the wolf's fangs. I awaken from my nightmare with a jolt, finding myself in my room with Subaru’s hands on my shoulders and giving me a look of concern. Subaru: "Miki, are you alright?" Miki: "I'm okay, just a bad dream, Su-nii." He nods, I get out of bed after kissing his cheek and get ready for the evening. Subaru: "Where are you going?" Miki: "I have to go to work." Subaru: "Alright, I’m coming with you." He lets me get ready and escorts me to the studio. While recording, I feel like I'm completely dazed. Takao: "Alright, Miki, let's go ahead and take a break for 30 min, and then we'll jump back in." Miki: "Okay, sounds good." I walk over to Subaru, who is sitting on the couch. Subaru: "Miki, you seem distracted. What's wrong?" Miki: "It's nothing, just too many nightmares lately. They've been so detailed that I can't seem to shake them once I wake up." Subaru: "Maybe you need to let off some steam." Miki: "Maybe when we get home." Takao comes back. Takao: “Miki, I want you to meet someone. Come with me.” Miki: “Sure Takao.” I follow him, along with Subaru. He leads us into another recording studio, where there is a guy around Reiji’s age singing Fairytale. His voice hypnotizes me. If it weren’t for Subaru putting his hand on my shoulder, I might not have realized this is real. Subaru: “Miki, are you listening?” Miki: “Of course I am.” Takao: “Well, this is Ryota, and he needs someone to sing a duet with him. We thought maybe you would like to help him out.” Miki: “Sure. I’ve never done a duet with a male before, but I would love to try.” Takao: “Great, I’ll let him know.” As Takao goes into the soundbooth, Subaru grabs my arm, making me turn to face him. Subaru: “Miki, what do you think you’re doing?” Miki: “My job. It would be nice to try out a duet with someone besides Yui. It’s not like I am being asked to do anything but sing with him.” Subaru: “Fine, but if he tries anything else with you, he’s dead.” Miki: “I know Su-nii.” I kiss his cheek and give him a hug. When we separate, we see Takao and Ryota come out of the soundbooth. Takao: "Miki, this is Ryota Fujioka. Ryota, this is Miki Sakamaki. I hope you two will work well together." Ryota: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miki." He kisses my hand. Miki: "Likewise, Ryota-san. I look forward to working with you." Subaru clears his throat, reminding me he is here. Miki: "This is Subaru, one of my older brothers." He holds his hand out for Subaru to shake. Ryota: "It's nice to meet you, Subaru." He takes Ryota's hand and squeezes it harshly. Subaru: "You as well. As long as you don’t try anything with my sister." Ryota just keeps smiling, laughing off Subaru's low-key threat, while Subaru glares at him. Ryota: "Of course, Subaru-san. This will be a purely professional relationship between us. Now if you would be so kind as to leave the room, so we can start, that would be great." Miki: "You can wait outside the door, Nii-san." Subaru reluctantly leaves the room, hugging and kissing my forehead. Ryota: “Well, he sure is protective.” Miki: “All of my brothers are.” Ryota: “How many do you have?” Miki: “Eleven. Four of them are adopted. The other seven are half brothers.” Ryota: “Wow, that’s a lot. I have an older brother, but we’re not that close.” Miki: “That’s too bad. So what type of duet did you need my help with?” Ryota: “Let me show you.” He takes my hand, leading me into the soundbooth and hands me the lyrics. Miki: “This seems like a great song. Do you have the composition yet?” Ryota: “Yes, the only thing I was missing was someone to sing the female part of it. I asked Takao and he suggested you. You sound amazing, by the way. The moment I heard your voice, I knew you’d be perfect for the part.” Miki: "Alright, let's try it out." We sing Memories together. Miki: "I think that sounded pretty good." Ryota: "Maybe we could work together more often." Miki: "Maybe. Just not today. Can't make my brother wait around all day.” I give him a charming smile and take my leave. Ryota: “See you soon, Miki.” I shut the door. Subaru is giving me his angry eyes. Miki: “Su-nii, what’s wrong?” Subaru: “That kid needs to learn his place.” He makes his way toward the door. I block his path, embracing him, knowing I have to stop him from hurting my coworker. It just wouldn’t be good for my career if that boy were to go missing or die. Miki: “Subaru, please can we go home now? I want to spend the rest of the day with just you. Don’t let that boy distract you from me.” He groans before lifting me in his arms. Subaru: “Alright Miki. Let’s go home.” He takes me to the limo. When we get home, he takes me to his room. Caging me on his bed, he aggressively makes out with me, letting me hook my arms around his neck, so he can’t leave me. I just hope a night of pleasure will make me forget everything else for tonight. Miki: “Subaru, please…make me forget.”
