Sueli took another step forward, the smell of blood and tar filled the air. The lights that kept the garden well lit, kept dimming and brightening. The women continued weeping and screaming. Laila forced herself backwards. “So this is my true queen?” Laila thought she felt her soul waver. Sueli’s wings began to flap as her fangs descended. A thick gooey saliva dripped from them onto Laila’s face, burning through her skin. Laila screamed at the top of her lungs. [Acid?]
Before she could taste Laila, Liv and Adiv were bowing deeply in front of her. Her screeching and wailing translated immediately to them. “I said not to interfere!” They telepathically spoke back to her, “My omnipotent queen please forgive us, we are thinking of your vessel's….. reputation.”
Sueli’s anger started to fizzle out almost immediately. She had made a pretty big mistake. She looked up towards the sky, then stepped backwards until she was firmly settled back into the cloud of souls. The darkness twisted and flew around Josey’s body as she fell unconscious from the black tornado.
Liv caught her body, then picked her up in his arms. Zelah watched on from the gazebo as the two guards disappeared with Josey. She was terrified but she also wanted to see Her again. “She is one interesting woman.” She thought to herself, haughtily smiling.
Adiv had been trying to locate and mind-link with Cofer from the moment Sueli told them not to interfere. He was sure the trance she had put them in also kept them from calling for help. At that moment they were unable to disobey her. It took them what felt like hours to at least move. They had also noticed that no guards or DAs had come to the garden. When they left 20 or more guards were running towards the garden along with a DA system.
Their hearts were racing. Sueli’s entrance could cause strife between the kingdoms. They knew she was powerful but this was the first time they felt helpless. They weren’t allowed to enter their queen’s bedroom but if Cofer didn’t respond soon, they would have to take the chance.
When they arrived at her door, Cofer was also approaching.

Josey’s death had flashed before Cofer’s eyes. Sueli’s scent tormented his senses. He left the cavern as soon as he could. He had planned on mindlinking with Adiv and Liv once he got there. When he saw her limp body in Liv’s arms, he wanted to kill them for not protecting her. He took her body from Liv and commanded that they follow him.
After he had her checked out, he needed details or their souls. He rushed through the portal and Liv and Adiv followed closely behind him.

When Valin looked up from his paperwork, more than twenty minutes had passed. A knock came to his door and William leaned in and proclaimed that there was an intruder in the garden. Several guards entered his office and stood next to the door and three more stood on the outside. They needed to gauge the threat level.
“Why did the DAs not send a notification?” Valin yelled.
“Sir. I don’t know. We can check the camera footage while we wait.”
They had not had a threat since Cofer entered the castle and his father had handled that. William pressed the front of Valin’s desk and a small monitor popped out. He walked around Valin’s desk and said, “Show me the last 45 minutes in the Moon Garden.”
The monitor showed a loading symbol then started to play the footage. The image looked like a television show about noble women.
Then Valin saw Laila approach Zelah and Josey’s table. “Turn the volume up 4 decibels.”
He listened to her words in complete and utter shock. Soon after was when the mood changed and the screaming began. Valin gasped and jumped up from his chair while William covered his mouth. What they saw was something out of old horror movies. Then a thought so paralysing hit him. “What if Queen Sueli had put everyone in the castle in a trance like on the boat?” Everyone in front of the dark mass, with the exception of Laila, were still as statues. Those who were behind her screamed and ran for cover, unaffected.
As soon as he started to comment, a DA alert sounded. It stated that the threat had been neutralized and a report would be generated. Valin dismissed the guards and William. He needed time to take in the seriousness of the matter.

Liv and Adiv stayed bowed and on one knee next to the sitting area. Cofer was not going to let them get comfortable. A conjurer entered the room and immediately started to diagnose her, “Her succubus came forward, uh?” Cofer did not like this conjurer. He was full of sarcasm and jokes unlike the others but he was also the second highest ranked. He snarled at him then told him to get to the point.
“My apologies, my king. Once her soul shifts back into place. Josey will wake up. How long she will be asleep is dependent on how long they were separated. I would say an hour for every 15 minutes of separation. Some demons, like Josey, with multiple souls have a hierarchy system. The soul at the top commands the body and can quickly shift with the other more lowly souls. Since Josey is not the primary soul, she shouldn’t in reality have command over the hierarchy or the body. ”
“I’m f*****g aware of that. You are dismissed.” Cofer was irritated beyond belief. After the conjurer left he walked over to the twins.
“What happened?” He looked them dead into their eyes while his flame colored eyes burned.
They explained the trance they were in and how Sueli attempted to keep them from intervening.
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing but at the same time he could. If Josey’s human soul was fading, Sueli could unintentionally take the reins.
He sighed, then massaged his temples. “Stay here in Nethersigh until I talk to King Valin.”

As soon as the guards entered the gardening area the noble women ran to them and requested escorts to their homes, immediately. Zelah couldn’t blame them. What they had just witnessed was horrifying. She was sure they were fearful for their lives even though Queen Sueli’s wrath and malice was not aimed towards them. In all the commotion Zelah found herself getting angrier by the second.
She worked really hard to keep her composure while Laila berated her like she was a commoner. But her anger was not towards Laila. It was towards Valin. He had obviously told Laila about the arrangement and that it was affecting him mentally. She was hurting or inexplicably changing her king and he was just letting it happen.
“What does he have to gain from such anguish? Why tell her and not me?” Zelah said to herself while the guards walked out with the guests and the maids removed Dsa’s baby shower gifts.
Two guards stayed by the gazebo while she sat and gazed up at the stars. She needed a moment to take the day in before she ruined her marriage.

“I’m dead Dsa! Laila said while having a bandage placed over the burn on her face.
“Yea. I believe you are.” Dsa replied coldly to Laila.
“Why would you speak to her in such a manner?” Dsa questioned Laila as soon as they started walking back into the castle. Before she could answer, Dsa started laughing, “Our king married a true demon. I guess I wouldn’t have expected less.”
They arrived at Valin’s office and requested an emergency audience with the King. William walked into Valin’s office then came out quickly. He held the door as they entered. Valin was looking down at a stack of papers writing furiously.
“What is it?” his voice boomed and was full of anger.
“Okay. well I will get to the point.Queen Sueli should not be allowed to come back into the castle, nay, Wilshana. She is dangerous.” Dsa stated.
“I agree. That demon tried to kill me. Either you ban her or I’m leaving.” Laila added. She had already planned on leaving but if she could keep Queen Sueli from coming into the castle she might be alright.
“Laila you are leaving anyway.”
“What?” She said, startled by his statement.
“I heard what you said to Zelah. HOW f*****g DARE YOU!?” Valin stood up from his desk. Laila took several steps back. She had never seen him that angry.
“I trusted you!! And you spit in my face in front of my wife and her friends! Did you think I was going to be alright with that?”
“My King, please! I’m sorry. I was drunk. I didn’t do it intentionally.” Laila pleaded.
“Queen Sueli should have killed you. Done us both a favor….. Get out... NOW!.” Valin turned away from Laila and a couple of guards came in and escorted her to her room.
“No! My king, don't send me away! I’m so sorry! “ The guards had to grab Laila’s arms to keep her from running back into the office.
“As for you, I understand your concerns. I will take them into consideration.”
“That’s all I can ask. Thank you, my king. Please excuse me.” Dsa kept her eyes lowered but she was smiling big on the inside. Laila leaving and Queen Sueli becoming a demon at the baby shower, put her back in a great position with the king. She had heard what Laila said to Zelah which meant her chances of being his only love were high.
As the guard held the door open for her, Zelah was arriving.
She curtsied and said, “My Queen.” then proceeded to her room. She couldn’t ignore Zelah's contorted face. A person who seemed to only have one emotion was showing a very different face.
