Josey closed her eyes and let out a low moan. She wanted him to touch her more. He studied every curve and fine line on her horns. Then he quickly took a step back. When he released her horn, she slowly opened his eyes. She looked shaken, like she would burst into tears at any moment. “What have I done?” Valin asked himself. He was fully prepared to die instantly if not by Queen Sueli then by the twins.
“I…I..I’m sorry.” He stuttered and grabbed the last guideline books from the shelf and the ones in her arms and headed for the table. He put the books down and almost trotted out of the library.
His touch and the look in his eyes made her truest fear come to light. The main reason why she did not want to be in the castle that week. A thought that had been lingering in the back of her mind, since he requested to see her succubus form. “Did we enchant him?” Sueli whispered as Josey collapsed to her knees.
“This is all my fault. If I hadn’t put us out there, we wouldn’t have needed saving. I put our relationship with him on the line!” Josey and Sueli started to cry in that dark corner of the library. Josey sat back against the bookshelf, staring upward. “It’s okay Sueli. Let’s keep moving. Now all we can do is enjoy our time with him. If it isn’t true then at least we get to have his handsome child. “ Josey giggled as tears continued to roll down her face. “Get up Josey.”Sueli said in a low emotional voice.
She pulled herself up and gathered the papers, that were once in her hands, from the floor. “Co…”
“Don’t you dare call for him!” Sueli screamed.
“What? Why?”
“I don’t want him to see us like this! This is…” Sueli fell silent. Josey waited for her sentence to end.
“This is pathetic.” Josey’s heart felt like it was caught in her throat. Sueli’s words cut deep. She knew that she didn’t mean that Josey’s struggle to live was pathetic but that's what it felt like.
“Ahhh.. right. You’re right.” Josey stood up. Her body felt heavier than usual. She pushed herself to move. She sat at the table and completed the instructions for the week. She wanted to rush so that she could get to his side.
She was surprised that the twins had not come in yet. She was sure they had heard everything. She could whisper her instructions and they would already be moving full steam ahead. She disliked that they knew her so intimately but they not only protected her body but also her reputation. So having a grasp of her secrets was important.
She left the instructions, books, and individual checklists at the head of the table. As soon as she reached for the door, Liv opened the door slowly. She walked out.
“My Queen, King Valin, dropped off this invitation.” Adiv handed her a lavender colored envelope with blue flowers printed on it. She started moving forward while keeping the invitation at her side. She would open it once she got home.
When she walked through the DT, Cofer was roughly pleasuring himself on their bed. She had showed up just in time to see his DNA land on a silk towel he prepared.
“Thinking about me?” She smiled and touched the corner of her top lip with the tip of her tongue. Cofer was still breathing hard as he grinned seductively. Josey put her stuff down as the DT closed. She folded the silk towel and licked the tip of his length. He rubbed his hands on the back of her neck as she took his length into her mouth. He leaned back on the large bed post, his eyes rolled in his head, his bottom lip hiding behind his teeth.
“Feels like you missed me more!” He growled and pushed himself up into her throat. He had just come and his length was stiff and throbbing all over again. [Josey.]
After Cofer came, Josey sat back and swallowed, then used her index finger to wipe her lips. He began to crawl over to her then stopped half way.
“What’s wrong, my lilac?” He continued to stare into her eyes. He was sure whatever it was had something to do with his spike of severe depression about an hour or so ago. She burst into tears then told him about Valin’s actions in the library.
“Now I can’t even tell what is real or not. After I told you about that day on the boat. It has been on my mind. I was hoping……” She took several deep breaths trying to pause her tears so she could tell him what was going on.
“I know. “ He pulled her into his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and continued to cry. After she calmed down, he gave her another handkerchief. She cleaned up her tears and nose and pressed her face to his, kissing the corner of his mouth.
“Maybe we should…I mean…I’m not saying I’m prepared to die..but we should not forget it's a possibility.”
“I will be right next to you, whether it is in this life or the next.” He pushed his forehead against her then rubbed her belly.
“I figure since I will be here this week, I will work with Shion to sort all the baby stuff from our people…..I think you should at least stay with Amasai until Yanrana calls him home.”
“I will. Oh…and it's probably a little more critical that I find that stone. Since I won’t be here to protect the kingdom. I figured I would put it in your grandfather’s hands when I…….. join you.” He pulled her body closer and started to rock back and forth.
When Josey woke up, she was fully clothed and tucked under Cofer’s muscular naked body. She wiggled herself from under him and made her way to the bathroom. On her way back, she picked up the invitation and then sat on the edge of the bed.
She peeled back the seal and her heart jumped. She chuckled. “Of course. Why wouldn’t she have a baby shower, I mean she is 'having' a baby.”
She proceeded to take off her clothing, forgoing putting on a gown, and pushed herself as close as possible to Cofer.
Throughout the week, Cofer made his short trips to the caverns. He wanted to make sure he could get back to her nightly even if it was just for that week. She was so fragile at times, he almost forgot that she harbored a demon soul within her. He was sure what kept her sad was the upcoming moonlit baby shower.
That night he would crossover into Wilshana with her then start his preliminary search of the cavern under the castle. He would have to be careful not to kill anyone since Josey had installed security DAs all over the country.
He sat and watched her getting ready. She was going fairly casual in an oversized knitted sweater dress and boots.
“Are you sure you are going to be okay?” He asked one more time before they entered their room in Wilshana.
She kissed his cheek and told him to be careful. He left her in the twins' hands and they went their separate ways.

The baby shower was nothing short of fabulous. She didn’t expect anything less. It was being held under a full moon and clear star filled skies, in a beautiful garden filled with blue roses. Many noble women were in attendance including the Queen, Zelah.
She floated over to Queen Zelah while she mingled with the noble woman.
“Queen Sueli, I am so glad you could make it.” Her smile, the way she moved, everything about her was graceful.
Josey bowed and smiled. She really didn’t want to stand to chat with them. She did want to see the lady of the hour though. By a table filled with gifts, Dsa sat in a large blue satin throne that was trimmed in silver. It shimmered under the moonlight making her look like a goddess, judging the common folk.
“Dsa, congrats and high regard to your upcoming delivery of a bouncing baby boy.”
“Thank you Queen Sueli. That is very lovely of you to say.” Before Josey could continue, Zelah inserted herself into the conversation. “Isn’t it a glorious coincidence that you guys are due right around the same time.” She said then giggled.
“Yes it is.” Josey laughed along with her.
“Josey, come have a seat at my table.” Josey waved to Dsa then followed behind Zelah.
She sat and ate an assortment of snacks and desserts with the Queen. She thought she was quite a charming and intelligent woman. They talked about their projects, books, and their study habits. It was unusual for a woman of her stature to want to discuss these things. They normally listened to gossip or discussed politics.
“I need to make a toast and an announcement.” She said to Josey like she was forgetting to take care of something. Zelah stood up and clanged her wine glass with a fork.
“Thanks everyone for coming to the baby shower for the Crowned Prince of Wilshana. {claps} I would like to announce that the crowned prince will be followed by his first sister or brother.” Every mouth in the garden dropped open. Then all of the women started to clap and congratulate Zelah. Many came over to her and asked her about when she found out and when she was due. The party's focus had completely shifted.
“Zelah, that was tacky but you seem to be having fun.” A low slurring voice said in their direction.
“Laila slow down on the drinks and watch your tone.” Zelah said then smiled.
“My tone..uhm? Not only did you announce your baby during a baby shower for our King’s first child but you are being chummy with a demon queen.”
Zelah gasped while the rest of the women fell silent. “How dare you!” Zelah scoffed. Josey felt like a fire had broken out within her soul and the only thing that could extinguish it was Laila’s death.
“And above all things, your weird bedroom habits have changed our King!” Zelah looked like she was going to faint from embarrassment.
“Laila was it? Find your seat and sit.” Josey said sternly.
“You aren’t the boss of me!”
Josey stood but she had no control over her body. Black particles of smoke started to engulf her. Her horns extended high and proud from her head. Her eyes glowed bright purple. Laila stumbled backwards while keeping her eyes on what looked like a doorway to Hell.
A foot covered and dripping with tar took a step off the cloud of souls that Josey traveled on. Her wings folded out. They were pitch black and the tips dripped with the same black tar like substance. When its foot touched the ground, the grass sizzled and burned. Then it let out a screeching roar. All of the women screamed and gathered together, hiding behind tables and anything they could find. By the time the second foot touched the ground, Sueli had taken the form of pure darkness.
No one understood her but Laila and Dsa, heard her loud and clear.
“Speak unnecessary words and die necessary deaths.”
