CHAPTER ONE: A Father's Love
Lexi Kiyoshi was in her room with the nanny, getting ready for the family's traditional wedding proposal. The longing caused her to have a romantic imagination. Marrying the man of her dreams was just a dream, but now it will slowly come true. She was busy humming as she continued to feel the rhythm of the music made by Haru's song. After a while, a gentle tug on his elbow woke her from her reverie. "Hey, Lexi?" Her father's voice echoed twice before it brought him back to the present. “Oh! Yes Dad?" His face lit up. "Hurry up, the Hvjosk Family has arrived!" Every time she heard "Hvjosk," it brought a strange joy, and excitement enveloped her. Her big brown eyes twinkled with laughter. The whole pinkish lips curled because of a smile she gave her father. No matter how many times she watches Haru's television drama and how many times she listens to his singing voice, she never gets bored of it. It's just one of those great memories from back when she was just a fan that she should cherish. But the smiles faded as they walked into the living room and heard an argument. "But I don't want to marry her!" Haru's voice surprised everyone, especially Lexi, who was currently facing downward. Mr. Kiyoshi squeezed Lexi's hand with gentleness. Lexi's chest tightened, and each breath seemed suddenly heavier as they entered the scene. The marriage contract was scattered on the floor. His skin trembled, and he swallowed as he slowly picked up those papers. "Sorry Dad, I'm not really ready to get married yet." Her eyes were shaking with tears as she handed the papers to her worried father. Mrs. and Mr. Hvjosk's faces were confused because of what she said, as was Haru's because he didn't expect the girl to react like that. Lexi didn't wait for her father's answer, so she just left them after bowing. “He is the man of my dreams, and marrying him for the sake of business is just nonsense!” She whimpered after entering her room and jumping into her bed. Mr. Kiyoshi took pity on his daughter. He knew Lexi so well that seeing her not happy seemed like a dagger buried in his chest. Then he remembered how everything had led to this. Yuu’s POV: Flashback; Stella Agatha and I used to be lovers, so I was very excited when I found out that she finally went back home from France. We lost communication for a long time because her parents were against our love before, but I believe she is also excited to see me again. “Stella?” I even went to the airport to pick her up, but was disappointed to see her with another man. All I could think was that she came home for me because I waited for her return as she had promised. With anger, I forced myself to love others. It's just that I don't want others to look at me with sympathy because my girlfriend cheated on me. She fell in love with someone else, and I'm sure I can do it as well. Therefore, I met Leigh and got another chance to enter into a relationship again. After being together for a few years, Leigh and I had a child. From then on, I promised myself that I would love our child more than I could ever love Leigh. But fate was cruel for taking Leigh from me so soon. Because of what happened, I was almost discouraged. However, I still persisted in supporting my daughter alone until I succeeded in life. There were many times when I almost gave up, but I couldn't bear to see my daughter struggling. I used to be a book author for Caelo Publishing Company, but when the owner of the company I was working for died, I did not expect that he would bequeath the company to me. A few years passed before Stella and I met again. "Yuu?" "Is that you?” Stella has changed a lot; she has become more elegant, but I realized that my feelings for her are still the same. "Oh, thank you, and you are fine," she said before hugging me. I don't know how I should feel—whether I should be hurt or angry because she cheated on me. "That's enough," I said softly to her before she pulled away from hugging me. I felt my chest tighten as I watched the tears form in her eyes. “Yuu, I miss you.” She started sobbing, which made my heart ache even more. "Forgive me for what I have done to you.” She demured, and I just shrugged. “I didn't want to ruin our relationship." She cries it to me while holding my hand. “That day, Vonn and I didn't have a relationship yet. I called you, Yuu. I chased you, but you didn't turn around. You didn't give me a chance to explain. Yuu, you were wrong to think I cheated on you. I can't do that to you.” She explained that, slowly, my tears ran down my cheeks. "But still, I want to say sorry.” She apologized while she was crying. If so, I'm the one who made a mistake. I let my emotions work alone without even thinking. I hugged her back before speaking, “Shhh, I understand you now." "It's not your fault.” We both sobbed louder and only stopped when we felt someone coming. "Dad?" I wiped my face and then fixed myself, and Stella did the same. “Dad, are you crying?" Lexi approached me worriedly while patting my back. “Ah, nope..." “Tita Stella?” Lexi called her in shock. Stella couldn't believe it and shyly agreed. "You know me?" Stella asked my daughter in surprise. "Of course!" Lexi exclaimed, "since you're my father's first love." “So you already have a daughter, Yuu.” Stella said this, causing me to feel awkward. Because of our meeting again, I found out that Stella also has a child. After that, we went to my son's house. While I was driving, I noticed that my daughter seemed to be out of her mind while smiling. “Lex, are you alright?” I asked her, and she laughed softly. "Dad, think about that. Aunt Stella's son is my celebrity crush, Haru.” Lexi was very happy while looking at her phone, which made me smile when I remembered my childhood with Stella. A few days later, I was surprised when Stella suddenly visited our house with her husband. "We came over here to make a deal," said Vonn, Stella's husband. "Make a deal?" I asked in surprise. “Our son is about to be 26 years old so we thought of getting him married as soon as possible." Vonn said seriously. I suddenly feel something strange about their plan. “We would like you to be Vonn's business partner, if it's okay with you to let Lexi marry Haru, our son." Stella said modestly and my daughter Lexi exposed herself to me in shock. I wanted to object at first but I did nothing after hearing my daughter agree to the couple's offer. However, I am happy for my daughter because I did not expect her to be so happy because of what happened. In the evening I received a call from Stella. “Yuu, I know you were planning to reject our offer earlier but I hope you understand that I'm doing this because I still love you." She sobbed as she uttered each word. I blown out a strong wind before I thought to speak. "Why is it my daughter have to take the risk? Stella, you know the feeling of being forced to marriage, don't you? I hope you thought about how our children might feel because of the agreement we made." I don't know why I'm angry. Is it because I'm afraid to see my daughter fail in love? Stella's cries grew louder, "I know, Yuu. But I don't know what I feel now. It's hard for me to accept that our love has gone to this. If the time machine could be bought, I would buy it just to go back in time. I will change the fate that destroyed our love." “Stella, that's enough. No matter what miracle is available to use, I still would never want to go back in time. I love you, Stella. I loved you so much that I couldn't love Leigh, Lexi's mother back then. I suffered a lot because of what happened but not once do I regret anything. The reason why I am happy now is because of my daughter. I have nothing to fix in our past, Stella. Because I'm proud for having a child like Lexi and I don't want that to change just so we can get along." There is a trace of sincerity in my words but beyond that is the overflowing heartaches. “I understand, Yuu. Even if I'm honest, I'm confused. I could only think of reconciling Haru with your daughter for the healing of my heart. I don't want to fix what we have if it puts our children in danger. So instead of us being the ones to stay together, why don't we let it happen to our children?" I was glad to hear that her voice gradually calmed down. "Well, I can see that my daughter is happy with her decision to accept your offer so I will just support her. Just promise me that your son will never lay a hand on my daughter. My daughter has never been hurt by me so once he hurts Lexi, I will not hesitate to take her away from him." Back to the present... Mr. Kiyoshi's phone rang, four hours later. Haru's mom is calling. “Couldn't able to sleep?” “Now that I know, my daughter is devastated so she lock herself off in her room and don't even want to open the door for me whenever I call her. Do you think that would allow me to sleep?” I told her as she releases a deep sighs. "What?!" the shocked voice of Mrs. Hvjosk calmed him down but that little giggle echoed through him. “Seriously? Are you mocking on me?" Mr. Kiyoshi sighed in annoyance. “W-Wait, listen? Just calm down, ok? HAHA I didn't mean to do that, she just made me remind of someone.” In her statement, Mr. Kiyoshi knew was she referring to. The man who locks himself in his room and doesn't eat whenever they had a misunderstanding. A silly memory that she will never forget and is very important to her. Listening to each other's laughter takes them back to their oldest days. Three decades and nine years have passed, but the compassion is still there. Maybe they weren't really meant for each other but at least seeing Haru and Lexi continue their unfinished love story is a remedy to heal their wounded hearts. They end their conversation with a plan on how they can force Haru to marry Lexi. Getting Haru to take viagra to get him to move Lexi is not a good idea and they may seem selfish but it's the only way they can think of. Mr. Kiyoshi told the maid about the plan and she learned it well. I hope they succeed. And their plan will begin. One two Three... Mr. Kiyoshi went in the kitchen to drink water when he suddenly collapsed. The broken glass made a loud noise as it shattered into pieces. The maid heard that so she ran closer and panicked. “Sir?” she keeps yelling while carefully avoiding the broken glasses. No Lexi came out. So Mr. Kiyoshi whispered to the maid, “Knock on her door and shout that I fell.” He silently laughs at his foolishness. Then the maid followed him and Lexi came out triumphantly worried with messy make-up, hair and a noticeable paleness of her face, “Where's Daddy?” she sobbed as the two of them ran to the kitchen. “Oh no, Daddy!” she cried while hugging her father. Lexi stopped for a moment, and looked at the maid. "What are you looking at?... Go! Call an ambulance?!" The maid gave her a strange look because she didn't know what she could possibly do. Tears kept falling from her eyes. After that, Mr. Kiyoshi suddenly burst out laughing. “It's a prank!” They couldn't imagine Lexi's reaction. Was she angry or pleased at the thought that her father had not really collapsed. Regardless, she had to comfort his daughter. “Really Dad? How could you still pranked on me in this situation?” She frowned. “What? I am just testing how much you love me.” Mr. Kiyoshi teasingly stated. Lexi pouted then speak again, “Of course, I love you Dad. I can't live without you, you know.” “Please don't leave me alone, Dad.” She emphasized while looking straight on her dad's eyes. Mr. Kiyoshi slowly gave her a hug. “That won't happen, my princess.” He declared. Mr. Kiyoshi was a very loving father, that he would spoil Lexi with everything she wanted to get. Although his daughter is now a full-grown lady, he still acts like Lexi will always be her baby girl. So the people around them say that Lexi is very lucky to have the kind of father that he is. They are currently drinking after dinner as part of what is planned. Lexi was already a little drunk so it was unlikely that she could say no to Haru. Meanwhile, Haru just got home. Mrs. Hvjosk had been waiting for him. "Haru, we need to talk.” "I'm so tired. I need to rest already.” he growled because he knew his mommy would just convince him to marry Lexi. "Do you really have no care about her feelings?” He just ignored the question for a bit and his mom already knew the answer. "I don't care!" He whined. "How long will you hold your pride?" Mrs. Hvjosk trembled as he looked at her son. “What? What did you just say? Mom, am I really a pride? Then how about your pride to pushed me marry someone that I do not know when I don't want to. Didn't you think that it's also an act of being selfish? You think more about business than understanding your own son. I don't understand it. WittyClick is continuously growing well, there's no need to worry about. There's no need to force me to marry someone just to save other business, so sorry because I will not gonna accept that. As you can see, I am so much busy as an actor that having a wife is not on my vocabulary but if that so. Well, I will just gonna marry someone else.” Haru almost screamed while explaining to Mrs. Hvjosk cause her to be scared. And at the same time, Mr. Hvjosk and glared at him. “Haru, we've never raised you to just shout on us especially to your mom!” His father's face showed anger. Haru looked at his mom feeling guilty of what he had done when the phone suddenly rang, grabbing their attention. “Where is he? Lexi is almost...” he didn't let Mr. finish. Kiyoshi is his statement so he can tell lies to Haru and his wife. "Lexi is sick," said Mrs. Hvjosk. Haru turned around and spoke, "Just let her rest." Mr. Hvjosk just watched him walking away from them but his wife did not stop convincing their son. "She wants to see you." Mrs Hvjosk sighed. Haru grinned, “But why? Is she insane? I am not even a doctor." "Just go there for her father." She pleaded. Haru turned to her and her husband gave her a confused look. “I mean, Yuu told me that Lexi doesn't listen to him. He almost begged her to eat but she don't bothered to listen.” ”That's not my problem!" Haru was about to leave but his mommy spoke again. "Just think that you're doing this for a worried father that has no other will but to see his child at least okay," that statement reminded him of his childhood days. Seven-year-old Haru meets someone who is an employee under his Dad's agency. That employee named Primo was like a brother to him. They became close in fact almost every day after Haru's class, he always rushes to that place. Mr. Hvjosk knows about his son having a friend so he just let it go. Not until one day the employee he became close, disappeared. His father told him that his friend had quit and left something for him. A baby rabbit with the letter that says. [Hey Haru, my little bro! I don't want you to be sad so I decided to leave my child, just to give it to you. It's up to you whatever you want to call her. You are already her father so you better give her a pretty name, ok? I love you and take care.] Despite his sadness, he still managed to smile while holding the baby rabbit. “Izumi, don't be sad because I will take good care of you!” Haru took good care of Izumi as if she were his own child. He also remembered the time before Izumi passed away. He worked hard just to save his little pet. Begging Izumi not to leave him. He was often almost moved to tears to see how it gradually weakened. When Izumi got sick, he didn't even sleep just to watch over her. A true love and care that a father can give to his child.
