Fighting The Cruel Fate.

Chapter 6

Ellie.

"Mum, what is happening? Why am I not allowed to go to school?" I ask my mum for the thousandth time, and I already know her response before she can even say the words.

"Nothing is wrong, honey. You will resume tomorrow," she says and continues to stir whatever she is cooking.

Since that morning my brothers brought me home, I haven't stepped outside the front door.

It's been two weeks and they are all acting weird. My brothers come home angrier than the previous day. My mum hasn't left the house either, and I am always at arm's length with her.

There are guards outside. Watching around as if they expect something to happen. I am also supposed to keep my gun on me, even when I go to the restroom.

I know something is happening out there, and I am dying to know what it is. Now I regret not taking Lisa's number.

I hate not knowing things, especially when they are of so much concern to me.

I wake up as early as I can and hurriedly prepare for school. I am going to find out why I have been locked up in my house for f*****g two weeks.

As expected, Justin insists on driving me and I am not surprised.

"Can you please tell me something?" It doesn't hurt to try so I ask again.

"It's nothing you should worry about" his response only irks me.

"Come on, Justin. Everyone keeps saying that but we both know something is happening "My brother pulls at the parking lot and hurriedly gets out of the car

Justin opens my door and instantly grips my hand in his and starts to lead me towards the huge building.

Unlike the other days, the school is eerily silent and everyone is watching me.

"I hate this " I mutter training my eyes on the floor

"You are coming with us to our class"

"Not again, " I quickly snatch my hand from his, and he helplessly looks at me. They attend private classes. The twins and Zane. Now I have to follow them there too?

"I will tell you everything you need to know. Let's just go okay?"I reluctantly follow them but as expected, no one tells me anything.

The boys are not even talking. Well, aside from frequent glances they keep sharing. I know they are talking through their minds.

"Ellie, we have to meet someone really fast. We will be back before you know it. Don't leave this room, okay?" Derek places their backpacks on chairs beside mine, and I watch them hurriedly walk out.

Of course, I won't just sit here and wait. I need to find Lisa.

However, the door opens and someone walks in before I can take a step. Did they send him here to watch me?

Please, no again.

"What do you want?" I groan and slump back in my seat.

Alpha Casper.

The cool guy I referred to on the first day. I regret coming to this place. f**k, I wish it had never existed.

"I have been meaning to talk to you, but you appear out of reach." Yeah, I have been guarded like a f*****g president.

"Yeah," I mumble and lean back in my seat.

The guy stares at me for so long, and I almost fidget in my seat, but luckily, he looks away.

Creepy much.

"I guess they didn't tell you, right?"

"Tell me what?" I whisper, suddenly feeling curious. Is he about to tell me what is going on around here?

Why everyone is acting weird?

"The reason no one is allowed close to you. Why your mate and brothers are keeping you away from everyone?"

"I don't know. Tell me?" I hurriedly whisper, and he chuckles. Probably the urgency in my voice is amusing to him. f**k, it's not funny. Nothing is anymore.

"For so long, we have been living like prisoners in our own homes. This rule, about rejecting mates, is ruining us. My father rejected my mum and married a witch. Unlike you, my mum wasn't lucky; they killed her."

My eyes widen in horror at his words. I don't want to imagine losing my mum.

"Most alphas here share the same predicament as you and me." Alpha Casper pulls one of the seats and gets himself comfortable.

"At first, people thought it was the best decision. Having a strong Luna matters a lot to wolves, but then, why are these alphas and betas replacing their mates with witches?"

"Why do the mates end up dead after finally giving them heirs?"

Fuck, now more than anything, I want to know what happened to my mum. The twins' father's wife is a witch. That means mum was only used to give them babies.

Does that mean these women are locked away until they eventually die? Dear God, don't let me end up like that. I'm still young and I know I haven't committed many sins so far.

"To protect our mates, we are forced to keep silent when we find them. Hide them for their safety because when we openly claim them, what is happening to you right now will happen to them." Casper continues with his saddening story and it only gets worse as he goes.

"What is happening, Casper?" I anxiously ask because he is dragging the main point. Damn, Zane, for claiming me openly. Didn't he know this would happen?

Fuck, what if he doesn't care? What if he just wants me to give him and that witch babies?

"Your mate is expected to marry that witch in two weeks on the full moon. Before the mating ceremony, he needs to get you laid. Make sure you are pregnant with the so-called heir. If he doesn't comply, the king will send for you, force you to go into heat, and there is no way your mate will resist you in that vulnerable state".

" They will lock you together in some room until it happens. Most alphas don't hesitate, but for some reason, Prince Zane is hesitating, and that alone is trouble for you."

Oh, God. This is worse than I thought.

"If they find out he wants to protect you, Ellie. Hell is going to break loose around here. They will come for you and goddess forbid..."

I stare into Casper's eyes, and my heart sinks. " I have a mate, you know. I am hiding her in the human city, and nothing will make me happy to have her close without fearing for her safety. That's why this needs to change."

"How" I get up and start to pace around. "How will we stop them. I don't want to die," my voice trembles. I have not even enjoyed my life yet. I haven't enjoyed that sports car. Damn, I haven't even shown it off to my friends.

"Zane's resistance is hope for us. Every alpha here and out there wants to put an end to this once and for all. All we wanted was a voice. Someone from the royal pack. Someone more powerful than the King"

"You mean, Zane?" I whisper, stopping to stare at him. Is he that strong?

"No. You " Casper murmurs, and I laugh, pointing at myself.

"I don't have a f*****g wolf, and I have never even slapped someone in my entire life. I only have a gun, Casper." Urgh, I sit back in my chair feeling hopeless.

And here I thought he had a solution.

Casper flicks my forehead and chuckles.

"Silly girl. You don't even know yourself. Your mate is fighting for you, take that chance and fight for him too and when the time comes, every alpha, Luna, betas and gammas will join you. I promise you, Ellie, their time is up"

I stare into his eyes and I want to believe him so badly, but a voice keeps murmuring in my head. What if it doesn't work?

What if they succeed?

"How do I fight for him? What if he really wants to marry her?" My voice lowers and I feel that ache in my chest again. I haven't seen the guy in two weeks. Maybe he doesn't miss me like I do.

"He doesn't. If you haven't realized something around here, wolves have a deep hate for witches. I am sorry to say this but if your mate was into that witch, the whole school would have known. I mean, Zane f***s anything on two legs but he has never touched her no matter how much she tries to get closer"

"Did you have to say that?" I groan in frustration. How can one be that horny? So everyone here knows his bed?

"I am sorry," Casper chuckles, and I actually think I like him. "I heard you that day you know. I can assure you, though, I have enough experience in bed," the guy whispers and smirks at my dumbfounded face.

Of course, he heard me. He is a damn wolf.

"Urgh, get out of here," I haul a book at him, and he laughs, walking out of the room.

"Okay, Okay" Casper raises his hands up in mock surrender but stops at the doorway to look at me, "I am so honored to be your type, Ellie" he winks and I find myself returning his smile anyway.

He's cute.
