Chapter 1
Estelle.
I slowly take off my helmet and tuck away the few strands of hair that have escaped my ponytail. F*ck! My mum didn't mention that this would be a royal school.
"That was cool," a voice beside me exclaims, shifting my attention from assessing my new environment. I scrunch my face and look around me with less interest. I'm feeling bored already. I like my former school more.
"Thanks?" I whisper, even though I don't know what the girl meant when she said cool. A bunch of rich kids are wandering around in pairs, and for some reason, I feel uneasy. The way they are staring and whispering to themselves causes me to wonder if, by any chance, I am in the wrong place.
I don't know. These people seem... weird?
I still don't understand why my mum insisted on moving to this city and forced me to attend this particular school. I thought it was weird, but then again, I should have known from the countless rules she gave me.
"You are new. Goddess! Your eyes remind me of the beta twins. Are you perhaps their lost sister or a relative I don't know about?" I deeply furrow my brows at her confusing words. Beta twins? Are they the kind of celebrities that everyone should know about?
I don't know why this rich girl chooses to interact with me while the rest stare at me with distant, unwelcoming eyes.
My mother warned me against talking to people or asking questions. She wanted me to blend in with the crowd and pretend I was one of them.
"Forgive my nosy *ss. I am Lisa, by the way." She stretches her perfectly manicured hand forward, and I hesitantly take it.
"Ellie," I force a smile, and she beams in return. The countless tattoos on her skin and the piercings tell me she is a rebel.
"Welcome to Prison Royal School. It's hell around here," Lisa exasperatedly sighs, and I smile. I think I like her.
"I can tell," I say, getting off my bike and scowling at the group of people giving me disapproving looks. Is it so bad for a girl to ride a bike?
"Don't mind them, most of them are pretentious. Goddess, I hate the alphas more."She groans, and her words again don't ring a bell. " They pretend to be perfect, but in the dark, they are more wild."
Alphas? Beta? I guess this must be the trending vocabulary in this town.
Suddenly, screams break out, and a group of students start to rush towards the gate. Especially girls.
"This is the part I hate the most. That must be Prince Zane and his friends. Girls s*ck up to those guys like crazy. You should see how corky he is," Lisa grumbles, and I start to follow her wherever.
"Zane has f*ck*d almost every girl you see around. You just need to look at his way, and it's a done deal."
"Gross," I mutter and scrunch my face in disgust.
"Really gross. Please, tell me you are not the kind of girl who fawns over these rich boys."
"B*tch, please," I groan, and she laughs, slightly hitting my shoulder. "I don't do man whores. I prefer..." I look around at the guys passing by, and one of them catches my attention. "...the quiet type. You know, a guy who will have eyes only for me. If possible..." I lean closer to her ear so I can whisper," Less experienced in bed."
Lisa laughs and shakes her head in amusement.
"That's alpha Casper. And he has a mate by the way," she gestures to the guy I just used as an example, and for some reason, his eyes find mine.
D*mn, don't tell me he heard me. And what the f*ck is a mate?
"Well, then, you better stay away from Zane before every girl in this school turns you into an enemy. Trust me, you won't survive bullying, especially with you being..." She turns to me, and her eyes show guilt for a second. "No offense, but rogues are quite frowned upon around here."
"Rogues?" I raise my brow in question, and she stops walking.
"Goddess! Do you know what school this is?"
"Isn't it the most renowned private school around?"
"Yes, but only the big shots in our world attend. The future leaders, alphas, betas, and gammas. Vampire leaders and witches also come here. What position are your parents?"
"I am sorry, but I don't understand..."
Lisa stares at me for longer seconds, and her brows furrow deeply.
"You don't know, do you?" she whispers as if she just realized something.
"Know what?"
"The super..."
However, her words are cut short when a force so strong hauls me from my feet, and I find myself on the hard ground.
I groan and close my eyes to take deep breaths because, d*mn. Everywhere goes quiet. The once noisy school turns silent you can hear the sound of a pin dropping.
I open my eyes and stare at the most gorgeous green eyes to exist. My heart is beating wildly, and I lack the strength to push away the body pinning me to the ground.
"Mate," he whispers, and gasps sounds around us. Why am I not pushing him away? Is this normal? How does a guy you don't know just tackle you to the ground from nowhere?
It's as if time just stopped and everything around fades into nothing. I can't hear anything anymore. Well, apart from our erratic heartbeats.
The guy pinning me on the ground is breathtaking. F*ck, and here I thought I had seen all the good-looking guys. His jaw is sharper than anything I have seen.
The guy has brown, messy hair and a straight nose that complements his face perfectly. He doesn't have a single flaw. It is as if he has never walked under the sun a day. And his cologne, d*mn, I can smell it every day of my life.
It's strange. Does love at first sight still exist?
"Zane," a voice calls above us, and that breaks the awkward moment. Wait, he said, Zane? The guy who had f*ck*d everyone here.
I summon my strength and quickly push him away.
F*ck. So this is how he gets the girls to fall in his trap? How the hell does he do that?
The guy seems confused, and to my luck, Lisa appears beside me to pull me up, but an unexpected bloody scream escapes my lips when I see countless live wolves surrounding me.
Their yellow, gleaming eyes are on me, and their frequent low growls cause intense panic to arise in me.
"Shift back, please," Lisa yells, and my heart stops when the wolves turn to naked men.
But how?
"Don't worry, they are Prince Zion's guards," she mutters as she tries to get me up, but I flinch away. I don't want to be here anymore.
"Who is she?" the guy who called Zane asks as he strangely stares at me.
Maybe I am dreaming, because how the hell do these guys have my exact eyes? The bright blue with golden rims around the pupils. How is it possible?
"She's new," Lisa smiles as she looks from me to the boys. "I told you right, your eyes look like theirs," so they are the beta twins.
I watch as everyone assembles to watch us, and my stomach drops. I think something is wrong in this place.
I need to go back home as soon as possible. As they close up on me, my heartbeat accelerates, and I clench my sweaty palms. It's becoming suffocating, and I find it hard to breathe.
My vision starts to blur, and little did I know, stepping into this school was the biggest mistake of my life.
