Kaya’s POV
Kaya lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, the quiet ticking of the clock on her wall becoming a maddening soundtrack to her spiraling thoughts. She hadn’t slept since her encounter with Josh and the disturbing tension it had left behind. Every time she closed her eyes, the world around her seemed darker, more threatening, as if shadows were lurking just beyond her reach. Her heart hadn’t stopped racing since.
She sat up, clutching the sheets close to her chest, as if they could offer her any semblance of comfort. I need answers. I need to know what’s going on. Blake had been acting strange too, his protectiveness a little too intense, too suspicious. The nagging feeling that she wasn’t seeing the full picture gnawed at her, and she needed to talk to him.
