Alexander: The moment I stepped out of her room, I regretted offering her anything. Something to do. A job. Work. Who the hell was I kidding? I didn’t want her wandering the pack grounds. I didn’t want her around unmated males. I didn’t want her anywhere near danger, or stress, or even a sharp object. I wanted her safe. Inside. Protected. Where I could see her. And all of that made me sound exactly like every overbearing Alpha she hated. I rubbed my hand across my jaw and exhaled sharply. Marcel stood at the end of the hall, arms crossed, watching me with the expression of a man who knew I was knee-deep in my own mess. “You look like a wolf who bit off something harder than bone,” he commented. “And it seems to me that you are going to rip someone’s head off.” I glared at him.
