The Package

Idiots like Ryan had quite interesting lives. Great adventures were done by him and his friend Mark. The term adventure could mean potential danger or even death but they were to optimistic to know the difference. Ryan was getting ready to go to Mark's house to play video games. It was strange because he was an hour late and Mark didn't even text him to hurry up. He picked up his phone and called him but ended up going directly to voice mail. "Hey dude, sorry I'm sort of late. I'm just heading out the door just now.", he hung up and left the house. Getting there Ryan realized something was strange, the front door was open. Various thoughts rushed through Ryan's head as he picked up a baseball bat from the front lawn and quietly entered the house. It was silent and soft murmuring could be heard coming from the living room. Ryan knelt down to peak through the keyhole. Before he could get a clear view someone from the other side opened the door making him topple over into the living room. "What are your doing?", Mark asked, holding the door open. Ryan was about to answer sarcastically but stopped short when he looked up at the couch. A strange man was sitting looking at him with raised eyebrows. "Who is that creepy dude?", Ryan asked clearly not comfortable. "I can hear you.", the man said in a deep voice, looking off in a different direction. Mark started explaining the situation. The man was his cousin, Xavier, and he needed some help to get a very important package. "But he can't go because he's a wanted criminal", Mark ended the explanation. "I'm not a criminal, my twin is.", Xavier informed. "Why don't you ask anyone else?", Ryan asked. "Their lives matter more than you idiots.", Xavier answered. Having no choice and constant persuasion by Mark, Ryan slightly offended by being called an i***t agreed to help. Xavier handed them a piece of paper holding all the information required for getting the package. It had coordinates of the location. Mark had to google them and found out that it was conveniently located down the street in an abandoned warehouse. The first logical technique was to ask for it since Xavier said it was taken from him unjustly. When they got there, a crackhead came out and refused to give it to them. "What if we trade it?", Mark suggested. They offered money and even the console they both bought together, but the answer was still negative. Dejected, they went back and told Xavier the sad news. "You guys really are stupid. Just go in and take it from them, wimps.", He shot at them. They trudged back and waited for the perfect opportunity. It came after two hours when the two of them left the warehouse. Ryan entered through an open window and Mark soon followed. They looked for the package as described by Xavier. They found it, grabbed it and went for the window. Before they got out the door opened, the guys were back. They were not pleased to see them and took out their guns. Ryan and Mark made a run for it, deeper into the warehouse. It got deathly silent. the two guys split up and looked for the others. Mark nudged Ryan signalling towards the open door. They both slowly went over there and almost made it, but Mark's shoes squeaked. They made a run for it down the street and didn't look back. They made it back into the house, breathless. Xavier was still in the same position but he looked revealed that his cousin and friend were still alive with the package. He took the package from them and began opening it. Ryan and Mark sat next to him. The package contained..... a CAT?! "What the hell?", Mark gasped. "Thank God the box had holes in it.", Xavier mumbled as he picked up the cat. "Why is our life an acid trip?", Ryan asked Mark, shaking his head. The cat was cute though.
