Chapter 31I awoke the morning of the baptism and found that Maria was already up and downstairs. I lay in bed listening to the chatter downstairs and the clinking of dishes and glasses. The house was awake and buzzing with energy. I looked at my watch. It was 8:00, and the baptism was going to happen just before the 11:00 morning mass.
