Kane’s POV
I hear my phone vibrating on the chair next to Ila’s hospital bed. My overly large body is stiff from sleeping like a contortionist, but I couldn’t be happier. Ila’s legs and arms sprawl all over my body. Ila’s head rests against my chest, and some drool glistens on her lower lip. Her peaceful sleeping form, nestled in my arms, is so perfect that I commit every detail of this moment to memory. A quick glance at my phone elicits a groan; the sun is nowhere in sight, but I know I have to get moving.
After wiggling my way out of her hold, I make sure she is still sound asleep. In her dreamy state, she reaches for me, so I place my scent filled pillow in her arms to comfort her. A sigh of content brushes cross her delicate features as she holds the fabric close to her cheek.
