With each step I took away from Ila, I felt more and more like a jerk. She didn’t deserve the sudden cold shoulder, but I gave it, anyway. When I offered to cook for Ila, I said it casually. Being around her more and more is making me fall into a perfect, blissful rhythm. Somehow, Ila’s soft edges fit the jagged puzzle pieces of my life. I want her desperately, but my pack’s laws regarding the Alpha’s mate, is more than I think Ila can handle, and if she dies in the process of becoming Luna, I won’t recover.
