For some random unknown reason, the bar was full of clients and to say it was becoming frustrating would be a big understatement.
She saw Alex coming inside only five minutes after she called him for help and a big smile formed in her face at the fact that he was always so ready to be there for her, despite everything that happened recently.
He joined her quickly, giving her a quick hug, putting on the uniform and started preparing some cocktails with her.
They were lost in their jobs when, after probably half of an hour, her eyes laid on Mr. Ambrose coming inside the bar and she felt her heartbeats increasing by the second.
'What's wrong with you?' She yelled at herself, remembering how he behaved just yesterday.
But when he was in front of her, holding her eyes with his unreadable piercing crystal green ones, asking for his usual shot of vodka, she almost forgot how to breathe let alone to remember their previous conversation.
"Mr. Ambrose," Alex called surprised when he saw him there. It was obvious he liked the man but it wasn't hard to tell they didn't have mutual feelings.
"Mr. Smith," Daniel responded and Liz could feel the irony in his voice but in the same time she was sure she was the only one noticing.
"I didn't know you were a client here sir, Liz hasn't told me," Alex said while serving him his drink and Liz closed her eyes embarrassed.
"It has slipped from my mind," she mumbled, trying to get out if that situation quickly.
"Miss Brown hasn't told me you work here either," Daniel continued apparently not happy to see them that close.
"I'm actually only helping her."
Elizabeth decided it was the best thing not to answer, but as she was trying to get a bottle of whiskey from the big bar shelf, her foot slipped and she found herself losing complete control of her body, waiting to see herself in the floor with probably some back pain, but instead she found herself in Alex's arms that were holding her waist and her back. His worried face was the only thing she could see for three long seconds before she regained control and slowly pulled away from his hands, feeling some eyes piercing her skin and making her feel almost unconsciously guilty.
"Thank you," she mumbled awkwardly as Alex tried to smile to lift the tension and show her that everything was okay.
It took her some other seconds to take the courage to lay her eyes on Mr. Ambrose, but when she did, she saw some clouded green eyes, furrowed eyebrows and a clenched jaw.
"I'm going to use the washroom," she informed Alex lowly and made her way out of there, wanting nothing but to relax her heartbeats.
She washed her hands and put the palms of them in her already burning cheeks and neck, knowing she was behaving like a little girl but this was all too much to handle, it was confusing.
However she heard the door opening and then a figure was standing in front of her, closing it from behind.
Her breath got stuck in her throat and words weren't finding their way to her head.
It was no one else other than the one responsible for her condition.
"What- what are you doing here?" Her voice cracked despite her inner will to sound confident.
"This is it?" He demanded, even though his voice low, it felt dangerously hot. "Can you, for once, f*****g be somewhere without him following you around?"
She frowned.
Did he really curse in front of her? Because Alex was there with her?
"You're the last person in the world I'd ask with whom to stay," however, she clapped back, trying to pass beside him so she could open the door and go in fear of losing herself in his eyes, but he stopped her from grabbing her waist and pinning her against the wall, harshly, their bodies now extremely close to each other as if they were forming a puzzle.
Her body awakened, reacted by itself as she found her hands in his chest and she felt like she wanted to keep them there forever.
"You're doing this in purpose, right?" He whispered in her ear so seductively, feeling her chest pumping in his because of her heavy breathes. "You're with him to drive me insane?"
The tight grip in her waist and his breathes in her ear made her bit her bottom lip to the point it became white she wondered how it didn't bleed.
"I- I've told you, the world doesn't revolve around you," she tried her best to keep the show up, knowing damn well she was so screwed already.
He smirked teasingly, enjoying every reaction of hers. "And I've told you, love, yours does," he continued with the whispers in her ear and she already knew if he'd pull away she'd fall right there for her legs weren't doing their job at all right now.
Her lungs too by the way.
Knowing well what he was doing to her body, he started to brush her collarbones and her neck so lightly with his index finger and it sent shivers down to her burning core, her body trembling in his arms.
But he continued, his finger in her cheek, then in her chin, lifting it up so their eyes could meet, as it was making its way to her lips, brushing them softly. She parted them, having no control over her body whatsoever. His touch was burning her skin like a flame and she wanted nothing more but to feel his lips on hers, she was practically about to beg him but she barely stopped herself.
"Did you think of me when you kissed him?" He continued, his voice even huskier, completely turned on by everything that was happening.
Oh boy she was much more.
It took her a second more to realize he said 'kiss him'. How did he know she and Alex kissed?
But most importantly, how did he know she thought about him?
"I asked you a question, love," he whispered again, this time his voice more demanding as his lips were only a few inches away from hers and she could feel her insides burning for more.
"I- I don't know what you're talking a-about," she mumbled and she hated how little her voice came out with all her might, but he seemed to love it as he leaned a little more forward, brushing his lips against hers lightly.
She found herself leaning for a kiss, but for her biggest surprise, he pulled his head from her just a little so her lips wouldn't reach his.
It frustrated her so much and she tried it another time, but still to the same result.
A smirk made its way in Daniel's lips watching her desiring him that much but that only made Elizabeth come to her right senses as she tried to push him away, but to no success.
"You can be with him all you want, I'll never let you forget me, love," his seductive and almost threatening voice made its way in her ears and a shiver went down her spine at the overwhelming feelings inside her. "I'll always make sure to be the one you want, just like today."
The realization slapped her hard as she felt a burning thing down her throat. Tears. Anger tears to be more exact.
He had done it only to prove her he was the one she desired. Only for this, for his sick ego. Not because there was something in return from him, but because he was threatened by Alex's presence.
For her and his surprise both, she slapped him.
He blinked several times, still in shock of what had just happened.
"I hate you and your sick twisted ego!" She shouted out of nowhere. "From now on you'll stay away from me or—"
"Or what?" He cut her off, coldly, hiding the sudden urge to get her in his arms and say he was sorry and say how much he wanted to be with her, so much more than she'd imagine. But as much as he desired her, a million reasons stopped him from doing so.
She stood there, not having any idea what to say. What could she do anyway, it was her fault for wanting him in the first place. If she'd just be able to stop this foolishness her heart wouldn't ache this much right now.
"You can't make me want you Mr. Ambrose. Even if you try again and again and again, it'll have the same result. I'll never be yours. I'll never imagine you in someone else. You're a lost cause, just give up already," she snapped so bitterly, even though lying, but in the same time hiding how hurt she was before opening the door and crashing it in his face, tears making their way to burn her soft skin.

"Liz, what is it?" Alex asked worried when he saw her teary eyes. She had entirely forgotten he was still in the bar and now she didn't know how to lie to him.
Heck, she didn't even want to lie to him. She wanted to talk with somebody, the mixture of feelings eating her inside out.
But she couldn't. As much as she hated her professor right now, she couldn't risk for someone to know, even if it was her best friend.
Realizing she didn't want to talk, he wrapped his arms around her and she felt much more comfortable around him. Why couldn't she fall for Alex instead? He was such a sweet boy, funny, kind, charming. He was always there for her and he even had feelings for her. Why was it so hard with him? And why was it so easy with Daniel Ambrose?
"What is it?" Alex asked after some seconds, whispering sweetly to her as she wiped off the remaining tears.
"It's nothing, my head just starting hurting out of nowhere. I haven't eaten all day and I think I'm a little dizzy," she lied to him as he gave her some worried eyes.
When Mr. Ambrose came out he saw her in that boys' arms and he felt like he wanted to punch someone, hard. Someone blonde to be more exact.
But instead he left the dollars for his drink in the bar and ran off without anyone noticing.
