Prologue

225 Words
As much as Elizabeth Brown was trying, she couldn't help but let things repeat themselves in her head. Memories, sequences, little things that gathered together hurt much more than someone could ever imagine. Things that, for worse or better — this was still to be seen — leaded her where she was now, in a train to New York City. To another city that would bring her happiness — well, that was what she hoped at least — that would make her forget every toxic relationship she had built in her hometown, or at least would make her remember what was best from them, what was worth remembering. When Elizabeth stepped foot outside of the train and saw nothing but gigantic buildings in front of her, she felt like she was reborn and lost on the same time. The idea of living in an metropolitan center had always scared and excited her in equal measures. Walking down skyscrapers that could almost block the view of the blue sky she loved the most, was a feeling she couldn't compare to anything else. It felt bigger than her, like she belonged to something incredibly important, yet lonely at the same time. And, as a literature major she was, she couldn't stop herself from quoting random authors, Joseph Conrad this time; "we live as we dream ― alone".
