CHAPTER 42 A warm flush filled Sara Beth’s cheeks as the moonshine burned its way to her stomach. Or maybe it was Layken’s powerful arms holding her so close she could feel his heart beating. Either way, she’d never felt more alive. She smiled and waved to townspeople she recognized, although most turned away with no response. Layken tugged her hand. “Come on. I see the Cokes.” Following him through the crowd, she raised her chin and lifted her shoulders. She was Mrs. Layken Martin, and it didn’t matter what any of these people thought of her.
