Chapter 1: The Throne That Refused A King
Long before humans walked the earth...
Before vampires ruled the night, before witches discovered the depths of ancient magic, before werewolves hunted beneath the moon, and before the supernatural races divided the world among themselves, there existed a kingdom feared by every living creature.
A kingdom built from black stone.
A kingdom where darkness never seemed to fade.
A kingdom ruled by blood.
It was known as the Demon Kingdom.
And at the heart of that kingdom stood a throne that had never belonged to anyone but one man.
Lucifer.
For thousands of years, his name had been whispered with fear.
He was the Devil.
The ruler of the Underworld.
The first and most powerful true demon to ever exist.
Even the most ancient supernatural creatures knew better than to challenge him.
But Lucifer had one weakness.
He had no heir.
And now, after centuries of ruling the demon realm, the lack of a successor had begun to threaten the stability of his kingdom.
The demons were becoming restless.
Some wanted the throne.
Others believed they deserved it.
And a few were already preparing for a war.
But there was one problem they had all overlooked.
The throne had never accepted anyone except Lucifer.
---
The Demon Kingdom stood beneath a blood-red sky.
Towering black mountains surrounded the ancient city, while rivers of dark crimson energy flowed between enormous stone buildings.
At the center stood the royal castle.
Its walls were carved with symbols older than any known supernatural language.
Inside the throne room, hundreds of demons stood silently along the walls.
No one dared speak.
No one dared move.
Because sitting upon the enormous black throne was their king.
Lucifer.
He sat with one leg crossed over the other, his fingers resting lazily against the arm of the throne.
His dark eyes swept across the room.
Not a single demon dared meet his gaze for long.
The silence was finally broken by approaching footsteps.
A man dressed in black robes entered the throne room and immediately lowered his head.
He was Aiden, Lucifer's most trusted assistant.
He stopped several feet away from the throne.
"Your Lordship."
Lucifer didn't respond.
Aiden swallowed.
He knew better than to speak until his master acknowledged him.
After several tense seconds, Lucifer finally lifted his eyes.
"What is it?"
Aiden bowed deeper.
"There is a matter concerning the succession."
Lucifer's expression remained emotionless.
"Speak."
Aiden hesitated.
"The demons are beginning to compete for your throne."
A faint smile appeared on Lucifer's lips.
"Are they?"
"Yes, Your Lordship."
Aiden's voice became quieter.
"They believe that because you have no heir, the throne will eventually belong to whoever proves themselves strongest."
Lucifer slowly rose from his throne.
The atmosphere in the room immediately changed.
A dark aura rolled from his body.
Several demons instinctively lowered their heads.
Aiden took one step backward.
Lucifer walked toward the throne and slowly ran his fingers across its ancient armrest.
"They are competing for my throne..."
He chuckled.
The sound echoed through the enormous chamber.
"And none of them have bothered to ask whether the throne wants them."
Aiden remained silent.
Lucifer turned toward him.
"You know our kind cannot mate with other beings."
"Yes, Your Lordship."
"So tell me..."
Lucifer's eyes narrowed.
"What exactly do they expect me to do?"
Aiden lowered his gaze.
"They believe you should choose one of them as your successor."
Lucifer laughed.
Not loudly.
Not joyfully.
It was a cold, unsettling laugh that made the demons standing nearby shudder.
"Choose one of them?"
He looked toward the throne.
"None of them can sit there."
Aiden looked up.
"Why?"
Lucifer's expression hardened.
"Because they are not true demons."
The room fell silent.
Lucifer stepped closer to the throne.
"This throne does not recognize strength."
His fingers brushed over an ancient symbol carved into the stone.
"It recognizes blood."
Aiden's eyes widened.
"Royal blood?"
Lucifer nodded.
"Only a true demon born from the royal bloodline can claim this throne."
Aiden's face fell.
"But, Your Lordship..."
He hesitated.
"You are the last one."
Lucifer's smile disappeared.
For the first time, something unreadable crossed his face.
Aiden immediately regretted speaking.
Everyone knew the truth.
Lucifer was the only remaining bearer of the Original Demon Blood.
There was no brother.
No sister.
No cousin.
No child.
No heir.
If Lucifer died without producing an heir, the royal demon bloodline would end with him.
And the throne would remain empty.
---
The demons of the kingdom were not all equal.
Their society was divided into three ranks.
The first were the True Demons.
They were born from the ancient royal bloodline.
Their blood was pure.
Their powers were stronger.
And they possessed abilities that ordinary demons could never obtain.
Lucifer was the last surviving True Demon.
The second rank was known as the Demon Hybrids.
They were born when demons of the royal race mixed with lower-ranking supernatural beings.
They possessed demon blood, but their bloodline was diluted.
They were powerful, but they could never inherit the royal throne.
The third were the Blood-Born Demons.
They were not born as demons.
They were created.
Through forbidden rituals, humans and other supernatural beings could be transformed by consuming demon blood.
The process gave them supernatural strength and abilities, but their blood could never be considered pure.
They could serve the kingdom.
They could become warriors.
They could even become powerful nobles.
But they could never become king.
Only True Demon Blood could rule the Demon Kingdom.
And that was precisely why the demons were fighting.
Everyone wanted Lucifer's throne.
Yet none possessed the blood required to claim it.
---
Aiden watched his master carefully.
"Your Lordship..."
Lucifer turned toward him.
"What?"
"What will happen if you never produce an heir?"
The question hung heavily in the air.
Lucifer's eyes darkened.
"Then the throne will remain empty."
"And the kingdom?"
Lucifer said nothing.
Aiden continued.
"The demon clans are already choosing sides. If you die without an heir, they will tear the kingdom apart."
Lucifer's jaw tightened.
He knew Aiden was right.
The demons were already becoming ambitious.
Some were secretly gathering armies.
Others were forming alliances.
There were even rumors that certain demon nobles were searching for forbidden ways to create royal blood.
Lucifer walked past Aiden.
"Let them fight."
Aiden stared at him.
"Your Lordship?"
Lucifer stopped at the doorway.
"They are fighting for something that doesn't belong to them."
He looked over his shoulder.
"Let them exhaust themselves."
Then he disappeared into the darkness of his chambers.
Aiden remained in the throne room.
He released a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding.
"He's planning something."
Aiden knew his master well.
Lucifer never smiled without a reason.
And tonight, that smile had frightened him more than any threat ever could.
---
Inside his private chambers, Lucifer stood before a massive window overlooking the Demon Kingdom.
Below him, thousands of demons moved through the ancient streets.
His kingdom.
His legacy.
His throne.
His bloodline.
All of it would disappear if he died without an heir.
Lucifer closed his eyes.
For the first time in centuries, he allowed himself to consider something he had never seriously considered before.
An heir.
But there was a problem.
A True Demon could not be born through an ordinary union.
There were no other beings who carried his pure blood.
Lucifer opened his eyes.
Then something occurred to him.
Something impossible.
Something forbidden.
His lips curved into a slow smile.
"If a True Demon cannot be born..."
He whispered to himself.
"...then perhaps one must be created."
A dark flame suddenly appeared in his palm.
The fire twisted around his fingers before disappearing.
Lucifer stared into the darkness.
He had no idea that the decision he was about to make would change the supernatural world forever.
He had no idea that his search for an heir would lead him to create something the world had never seen.
Something more powerful than a demon.
Something even the Devil himself would eventually fear.
And somewhere beyond the borders of the Demon Kingdom, hidden beneath an ancient prophecy, fate had already begun moving.
The throne was waiting.
But it wasn't waiting for another demon.
It was waiting for her.
