Midnight Sky
"What time are you going home love?" I clicked the button 'send' and continue preparing the meal I made for us. It's already 10 pm and I haven't eaten dinner yet. I'm still waiting for Gia even though I know that she will come home late because this happens, everyday.
Levi starts barking so I took a glance at him. "Sorry bub, I think your mom will come home late again. I'll just finish this and cuddle with you later okay." He stopped barking and peacefully sat and watch me do things like he really understand what I just said.
While I'm holding Levi hours later, I heard my phone beeped so I immediately went to it. I smiled when I saw her name popped up on my screen but it disappeared when I read her message.
"Don't wait for me."
That's just a simple phrase yet it hurts big time. Maybe she's just busy with her work right now. I went to the dining and fix the food. She'll just microwave it when she comes. I thought.
It's already 2 am and I still can't sleep. I heard someone opens the door and there I saw her silhouette. I quickly rose and before I can give her a hug, she spoke.
"Don't."
My heart broke into pieces when I noticed she can't even look in my eyes. She just continue removing her clothes while here I am froze in my spot.
Where did we go wrong?
Getting all my courage, I asked. "Do we have a problem love?"
"None. And stop calling me that."
"But why won't you let me call you our endearment?
"Why won't you let me hug you?
"Why can't you look at my eyes?
"Why won't you let me wait for you?
"Why are you coming home late always?
"W-why did you changed?" I stopped my tears for falling because for sure, if these falls, I can't talk and ask her anymore.
She placed her things on our study table. "I'm just tired."
"Of me?" I asked while hands shaking.
And then...
She finally looked straight to my eyes.
"Okay let's add some honesty here. Back to you question earlier, 'why did I change?' Hah, we all know that I did not. This is me from the start. This is me even before you came into my life. This is the real me."
"But, you've changed. You've already change. W-when we get to know more with each other, I know you've changed. Everyone knows, love."
"No! Don't be such a fool. You are not me to tell who really I am. So don't insist things to me."
"Even our relationship?" I nervously asked.
"Maybe it's really time. Let's break up Madisson. Ah, I waited many times to finally say this."
So she's really planning to break up with me even before huh? I felt like I just stabbed multiple times in my heart. "Why? Did I do something wrong? D-did you love someone else now?"
"Do you really want to know?"
I nod as I heard Levi walking to our room.
"There's no new, but I know it's not you anymore. That's it, I fell out of love. Do you have more questions?"
I just stood there and our eyes never left each others. Minutes have passed and I nod again and smiled as an indication that I understood. I understood to the point that it hurts so much. "You should never question the love of others for someone. Okay." I get my bag and walked through my closet as I get some of my things.
"What are you doing?" I felt her presence behind my back.
"I'm leaving." I sipped my bag and then looked at her. "So that you can live your life peacefully now. No one's gonna disturb you now.
"We can just file our divorce the other day." I went through the main door and slowly opens it.
She followed me so I looked at her again. "Always check the stove. Buy fruits and veggies and not just alcoholic beverages and junk foods when you buy groceries. Call a friend and let them drive you here if you're drunk. Don't skip meals. Sleep early and set an alarm so that you won't be late at your work. Don't stress yourself too much. Take care of Levi please.
"And please, take care Georgia. I love you." I walked through the door and held my tears. Ah f**k, my speech also made me emotional.
I turned my back and looked at her once again.
And there I saw pain in her eyes.
