LYRA
I didn’t let Kael go. Not even for a moment.
I stayed glued to him like if I loosened my grip, everything would fall apart. My arms were wrapped around him as he moved around the room, and I followed him everywhere like a shadow. If he stopped, I stopped. If he turned, I turned with him.
Kael noticed, of course. “You know you’re attached to me like a pup, right?” he said softly, glancing down at me.
“I don’t care,” I replied without hesitation. “Don’t tell me to let go.”
He didn’t. That was the strange part.
He only smiled and continued whatever he was doing, like having me stuck to him was the most natural thing in the world. And somehow, that made my chest feel warm.
