Chapter 12 - Buckle up babe

Nathalie POV

What a liar… “I can promise you that you will soon”.

That’s what he said, and now some more days had passed and just like last time at the club he had left me again with nothing. The only thing I knew more than last time was his name. Alexander Smith. And how my whole body reacted towards his presence and his touch. But I wouldn’t let it. I didn’t know this man and I was not about to fall for some random guy who always left me hanging. I didn’t know anything about him. He could be very much bad news as far as I knew.

It was Friday. Last day of school this week and I just needed to keep up the good work for one more week, then it was graduation time. One more week of suppressing the memories of this Alexander guy.

It hadn’t been so hard this time around after he left because this time I didn’t feel him around and neither was I getting the heats and tingling sensations all over my body. And even though this should make me glad it kind of made me disappointed, because I knew what that meant. That meant he wasn’t around anymore. Did he get what he wanted and now I was not that interesting anymore? I mean of course I don’t like the thought of someone stalking me and watching me in my sleep. But yeah, I just wish I hadn’t told Marie anything about our encounter if I had known I would never see him again. I still remember her reaction to it all. It was hilarious to see her excitement. Of course, I left out the creep stuff.

I just told her we met in town when I was out for a run and that he had saved me from getting run over by a car. That we had talked, and he had followed me home to drop me off. I also told her how handsome he was and how he said I would see him again soon all mysteriously. The prince on the white horse coming to rescue me, that’s what she called him. And now yeah look at that. What a prince leaving the princess behind… But we were two at playing that game. Out of sight out of mind.

I walked into school meeting the rest of the girls. We were heading for English class. What a bore. I actually liked English. I guess I was just bored by school in general.

Alice swung around her beautiful fierce red hair and put it into a messy bun before she turned to me.

“Shouldn’t we go to the club tonight and have some fun, I heard they are arranging some fun kind of speed date tournament and you can win some bottles?” she said with a wink and a smirk at me.

We were walking a little behind the others and while I didn’t crave going clubbing I needed the distraction.

“Sure thing! Sounds like fun! Have you asked the other girls?” I asked.

“Nope, not yet, I just found out” she shrugged and with that, in walked our english teacher.

The rest of the girls had thought it was a great idea. Everyone except Sofie but that wasn’t a surprise at all. She had a boyfriend or kind of. They had been on and off for years and she was way too good for him, and he was too afraid of getting attached. Therefor the on/off thing, but right at this moment they were in a great place and none of us wanted to ruin that. We just wanted to see her happy. We accepted that she wasn’t in on the speed dating, and even if she had not had a boyfriend, she wouldn’t have been either she was way too innocent and shy in her ways to go around doing stuff like that. But we persuaded her to at least come along with us as moral support and she accepted. Now we were just all waiting for the bell to go off so we could leave the school, get home, and get ready. This time we were meeting at Alice’s place since she lived the closest to the club and she was home alone. Marie’s dad was home this time and even though he had always had some kind of soft spot for me, neither of us wanted to get ready with a dad looking over our shoulders.

“… and that’s it for today kids, enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you on Monday for the last week of school.” by that everyone was no longer seated and went for the door of freedom.

“When should we meet later guys?” Marie tuned in as soon as we were outside.

“You can all just come by as soon as you are ready” Alice answered

“Great, I just need to get some stuff from home then I’ll be…” and I was cut off.

“Hey, that dude over there is really starring at you Nat.” Emma said nodding in a direction leading to the parking lot.

“OMG. It’s prince charming from the club.” Marie added gushing and I froze turning around to look in the direction Emma had nodded.

And there he was standing leaning up against a big black SUV wearing Black skinny jeans a black tee and a blue cowboy jacket. His hair was tussled just the right way and he was eating me raw with his gaze while running a hand through his black curls.

“How can he still be so tanned this time of year?” I heard Emma gossip behind me as I was pierced to the ground. I heard Marie hush at the girls and then she turned towards me.

“Well, we will leave you guys to it and see you later at Alice’s” she winked at me as she dragged the girls along with her towards the buss out of here.

And there I was, left alone in the parking lot with this guy, whom I was trying to ignore and avoid, of course Marie didn’t know that, because I hadn’t told her, but still I felt a little betrayed.

Then I saw him start moving and making his way towards me, and without even thinking I just turned around and walked the opposite way. I didn’t want to talk to him, and I didn’t want him near me. I was done being this lost little puppy he could just follow around and show himself to whenever he pleased. I heard his footsteps still behind me and I increased my speed, but he did as well.

“Nathalie don’t walk away from me” I heard him say in a stern voice behind me, I still didn’t know where he got my name from, cause I sure as hell didn’t tell him.

“Don’t ignore me like a child, come on.”

I turned around on the spot; “Like a child huh?! I’ll show you childish. At least I’m not the one just coming and walking away as it pleases me? Just leave please, I don’t even know you, but I know that’s what you’re good at!” I spit at him, not even knowing where the anger came from.

The next thing happened so quickly as he reached me and threw me over his shoulder. Suddenly I was back in the parking lot pierced against the side of his black SUV, with his body inches from mine and his hands holding me in place, placed on each side of my body.

He didn’t say a thing, he just stared right down at me breathing more heavily. I let out a deep breath as I met his dark and intense brown eyes.

“Just let me go, I have somewhere to be” I said as I let out a deep breath, I didn’t realize I was holding in.

“I thought girls liked getting picked up at school in a nice car” he just stated in a low sensual tone. “At least that’s what I heard” he smirked at me.

“I don’t care about your car, and yes we like to get picked up and feel cared for, but not by a stranger” I snapped.

“Don’t be like that, let me at least drive you home then?” he asked pleadingly. I just rolled my eyes at him not answering.

“Please bear with me. I’m new to all of this” he said with a shy smile. New to what? I couldn’t stand the closeness of his body for much longer or his penetrating gaze, so I gave in and nodded.

“You can drive me home, but that’s it” I answered him and gave him a stern look. He waved his hands above his head in surrender as he took a step back letting me breath and opened the door for me as I jumped in the passenger’s seat, and he ran around the car to get into the driver’s seat.

As he got into the car, he leaned in over me and his face was just inches from mine. I stopped breathing and closed my eyes as I waited for his next move, but he just chuckled against my neck at my reaction, so that I could feel his warm breath which gave me goosebumps all over. Then I heard the clicking sound of the seatbelt and I almost wanted to slap myself for being so stupid to think it was anything else he was up to and stupid for deep inside of me maybe hoping that he was up to more than that.

“Buckle up babe” he smirked as he leaned back into his own seat again winking at me and still chuckling as I opened my eyes, and he started driving.
