Chapter 39: Contract

1069 Words
Kayda's face stiffen upon being asked to sign a Master and Slave Contract. She truly believes that the person in front of her is capable of reviving her, but no matter how desperate she is, how can she easily drop the pride as a dragon, and be forced to lower her towards a weaker race. The reason she helped out the Kingdom of Everest during the war five hundred years ago was only due to a mutual partnership. They didn't even sign a contract, but now the person in front of her wants to sign a contract, what's more it's a slave contract! Signing a slave contract is no different to selling your soul. Once signed, you will have to obey every instructions being commanded to you, failure to do so will cause you to experience pain far worse than death. Just imagine what sort of humiliation she would suffer! No! Becoming a slave of a human is the most humiliating thing a dragon could do. With a solemn tone, she immediately replied, "I refused! How can I become a slave of a human child!" "Am I a normal human child?" Caine asked while tilting his head. Those words quickly reminded her back to the scene where Caine threatened to destroy the painting with a mysterious, yet dominating power. The thoughts quickly sent a shiver down her spine, how can she forget that scene, it was the scariest thing she had ever experienced, even death wasn't as scary as that. To wield such a dominating power, this "Human child" in front of her is by no mean normal, but… No matter how powerful he is, in the end he is still a human. A lesser race compared to dragon. After a long pause, Kayda finally replied, "...Even so I can not sign such a contract." Caine inwardly sighed Kayda's stubbornness. Well, it's not that Caine doesn't understand her pride since he himself was a powerful former ancient dragon. However, all of Caine's pride had long crumbled down ever since he reincarnated as a human baby. He had already experienced all kinds of humiliation as a human baby. Caine once again looked up to Kayda and asked, "Are you sure? If you accept the contract, I promise that I will not force you to do something that you don't want to. Also..." Caine suddenly released his dominating aura into the room, causing Kayda to shake intensely. Kayda quickly fell on her knees under the dominating pressure that Caine was emitting, despite using both of her hands to support her body, she was barely able to keep herself from falling flat on the floor. "T-This… Aura. I-Impossible! You are n-not a h-human! This a-aura is the same as us, the a-ancient dragon!" Kayda's eyes widened in shock as her lips twitched, barely able to utter her words properly. The pressure of the aura kept pushing her down, she felt like an entire mountain was now strapped behind he back. "That's right, this is indeed the aura that of an ancient dragon." Saying that, Caine momentarily retracted his aura. Realising that the dominating pressure is gone, Kayda slowly brought herself together and sat on the floor with her back against the wall. She was exhausted from fighting against the pressure. Kayda stared straight forward towards Caine's indifferent face. Her eyes were still shaking in shock. Kayda cleared her throat and asked, "You… A-Are you an ancient dragon?" Caine smiled and replied, "Yes. A former one to be exact." If he didn't reveal his true identity to her, she would very likely have persisted in rejecting the contract rather than choosing to revive her fleshy body. Kayda on the other hand kept staring at Caine, not knowing whether to believe his words or not. After all, she had never heard of any case where an ancient dragon transformed into a human. It's a mission impossible, it may be possible for a skilled dragon who specialized in the attribute of illusion, but that doesn't explain how she is able to detect his present and this dominating force. In the midst of Kayda's explosion of thoughts and questions, Caine interrupted and asked, "So knowing that I am an ancient dragon, will you now sign the contract?" Kayda quickly became comflicted, if what he said is true, then he really must be an powerful ancient dragon, and serving under a powerful ancient dragon as a slave wouldn't be so bad. With his protection, she probably won't have to worry about getting hunted down by human or other entities. However, his claim of being an ancient dragon is still unconfirmed. What happened if it was just a lie to get her to sign her life away as a slave? 'No! It has to be true, there is no other explanation for his dominating aura. Even if the claim of him being an ancient dragon is a lie, the fact that he is more powerful than an ancient dragon is enough of a reason.' Kayda thought. After much hesitation, Kayda finally finished deciding, "Alright, I'll sign the contract. However, you must keep the promise that you won't force me to do something that I don't like." As long as the other person promised not to force her to do something humiliating, then it wouldn't be so bad to accept the contract. She will gain the protection of this powerful being. Caine smiled and replied, "Of course, I have never broken any promise before." Caine momentarily reached out one hand in front of him then momentarily, purple hallows appeared floating upon his palm. The hallow had some sort of ancient language written on it. "Place one of your hands upon the hollow rings, after that the contract will be sealed." Caine instructed. Kayda momentarily hesitated for a second before finally reaching out one of her palm to reach out to the hollow rings. When Kayda's palm landed onto the hollow rings, the rings shined brightly and a sudden gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, blowing away the veil that covered her face and causing her hair to fluctuate in the air. The rings momentarily disappeared and her back started to shine brightly with the outline of a symbol that looked like a crest. It was a slave crest to be exact. With the contract sealed, Kayda's fate from now on will also be sealed in Caine's hand. Of course, Caine will keep his promise and won't force her to do anything that she doesn't want to. The only reason he insisted her to sign the contract was to ensure that she won't stir any trouble in the capital or the Earl's territory.
