Chapter 23: Imperial Academy

748 Words
Finally after three days and three nights of long journey, I finally arrived at the Royal Capital. When I was born, I was carried out of the Royal Palace under the moon by the guards, so I never got to see the capital. Looking at it now, it's actually quite big, I have never been in a royal capital in my past life so I don't know how it compares to others. Clip-Clop... Clip-Clop... Clip-Clop... The private carriage that I was riding on came to a final stop and so I got out with a small suitcase in hand. That's right, I didn't bring any servants with me. Since Nina won't do, the other servants are all discontent with me so they won't do too and so I ended up declining. Mother disagreed at first but reluctantly agreed in the end after a long discussion. I looked toward the huge castle in front of me and became shocked by the huge structures. Just from the look of the outside, one can easily tell how luxurious it must be. The entire place is decorated with the colour gold, even the wall surrounding it was coloured in gold. If one don't look closely, one may think its made out of sand instead. The place was well maintained and heavily guarded by knights in gold coloured armours. Some of the boulcany was decorated with rich plants. My expression later turn wryly. Just how much did they spend on this? I quickly headed towards the entrance and handed over my enrolment letter before heading inside. Once I was inside, I was greeted by an male attendant. "Greeting, I am the head staff in charged of the male dormitory, please show me your enrolment letter and I shall guide you to your assigned dorm." I handed the letter without question. "Alright, then please follow me. Oh, by the way where is your servant?" "I didn't bring a servant with me." I replied truthfully. Hearing that, the attendant immediately looked at me with disdain, before turning around and continued the lead without speaking again. Wait! Don't tell me he thought that I was from an poor noble in name! So this is what mother meant when she said that bringing a servant along is important for upholding an image as a noble. Since I didn't bring a servant, the attendant thought that I'm from a poor noble, despite my status as an Earl's son, I am now being treated no different to a commoner here. Well, I guess it doesn't matter. When we finally arrive in my desalinated dorm room, the attendant looked at me and rubbed his fingers. It was a sign to give him tips, but I don't want to! Wait... "Ah right! Here." I took out a palm size coin bag. The attendant looked at the coin with sleepy eyes, he must have thought that I was giving him copper coins. When the attendant opened the coin bag, his eyes shot wide opened! He look at me in shock for a second before bowing, "Young master, I sincerely apologise for my previous behaviour. From now on, I will ensure to serve young master well, if young master needs anyth-" Before the attendant finished his sentence, I quickly interrupted and said, "It's alright, I'll be in your care in the future." "Yes, of course. I will do my best!" The attendant replied with a face as if he had found a treasure. "Alright then, I am tired from the journey so I will rest for now." "Yes, please rest well! I shall leave for now, if you require anything then feel free to call me at anytime." "Yes yes, goodbye." The attendant joyfully left the room, I closed the door and my face slowly etched with a smug face. Do you really think that I will give you anything after looking at me with that disdainful gaze? That was only illusion magic! The gold coins were all rocks that I created with creation magic and shaped into gold coins with illusion magics. By tomorrow morning, the coins would have already transformed back into regular pebbles. ... The next day we were all assembled in a large battle stadium. "Welcome everyone, I am delighted to see that everyone managed to make it here on time. I am your school principal, Frosten Ray." The person who introduced himself was an middle-aged elderly man wearing a black robe, similar to that of an Royal Court Magicians. "Today you will have a mock battle so that we can gorge all of your strength level. Of course, one must all use a blunt wooden sword, magic is also allowed but deadly assaults are prohibited."
