Chapter 1
Worlds within one whole world. That “whole world” was named as “The Kanastron” which is made up of tiny different worlds that are rarely referred to as “The Kardinalis Locale.” Each Kardinalis Locale or a world is inhabited by multifarious races be it fairies, vampires, witches, demons, giants, and humans. Each world like that had a ruler and its citizens in peace. Among those many worlds, there is this tiny peaceable world named Emberi. Emberi is a reposeful human world and is typically a town of humans.
Emberi is rich and so are its people. Many people believe that Emberi is nothing but a dream. Where the land of humans and the seashore meet is Emberi"s Cymopoleia coastline. Nobody knows what exists beyond the big blue sea Cymopoleia. It is the sea that separates different worlds belonging to different races.
The unusually perfect weather of this town is what makes it a unique place. Although on no occasion humans living here confronted magic, the magical recipes of this town were extraordinarily palatable. The cooks and restaurateurs owned every guest and no less the people of the town. But what owned these cooks and restaurateurs is the magical harvest and resources of Emberi. Yes, farmers own them. Being a farmer in Emberi is their honor and a farmer here is the richest.
There is no king or a queen in Emberi but a chief who rules the entire human world. Extending his black suspenders around his blue shirt, the chief of Emberi smiled gaping beyond the sea as if he could see the magical world outwith the land of humans. Being a reputed farmer, Mr.Carlos owns a million square yards of land out of which he distributed along with his wealth, a quarter of it to win the elections of that year. He is quite a tempered person who valued nothing but his face as a chief.
His decisions were always as fast as the lightning bolt whether just or unjust. Five days after his glorious victory in the election against Mr.Atticus Montague, he was expecting a guest from overseas.
“Mommy, Mommy, Come out! Look who"s visiting Emberi,” bellowed an exhilarated young girl pointing her finger towards the seaport. He arrived. A striking young man, decently dressed, easy on the eye, as likely as not he was a giant blaming his height, his compelling eyes that could make anyone fall head over heels for him. People crowded around this “celebrity” who set his foot in the land of humans for the first time. “Azul! Azul!” all around the village.
Azul Maverick, a celebrated traveler, who is supposedly not a human and his race unknown, traveled around all the different worlds belonging to different races. This time he was engrossed about Emberi, which means a “human”.
“We are delighted to have you among us, Mr.Azul. As we heard, you surely look like a wonderful person to us. I, Carlos Alston as the chief, welcome you to our beauteous Emberi,” Carlos was gladdened.
“My sincere appreciation Chief Carlos. The weather in Emberi is pleasing me. Azul was meant to be here today. I can tell just by looking at the cloudless blue sky,” he says gaping at the sky. “Undoubtedly, Mr.Azul,” Chief Carlos laughed.
Chief Carlos introduces his traveler guest to guide Erix Evans to show him every corner of Emberi. The guide Erix is notable for his sense of justice and loyalty. Blue hat on his head, not so tall but muscular body, he shakes his veiny hands with those of Azul"s. While the people are crowded around Azul to bless their eyes with his handsomeness, a mob arrived.
On the spur of that moment, the people of Emberi separated two parts. One group of people warmly welcomed Azul and the other protested. A decent-sized group of protesters and their placards saying “Go away Azul", “ No place for those whose race is unknown", “ Close the border", “We are not safe here". Yes, Azul’s race is unknown and people were insecure about it. The people hesitated while protesting but they also thought about the possibility of him being a demon.
Azul was blown over to see people dismayed by his arrival. It was his first time running into such opposition evolving due to his disclosed race. On the first day of his trip to Emberi, he encountered a scene of contretemps before his eyes. Exasperate Carlos orders his officials and officers to belay the protestors. He whispers to one of his men “even if it is necessary to thwack them".
“Alas, Chief Carlos, do not hurt them,” Azul took out his concern on the people.
“They are nothing more or less than bandits, Mr.Azul. I would counsel you not to be bothered by the situation. I sincerely apologize on behalf of them. A great number of people are here to support and serve you.”
Carlos"s brawny muscular officers commence to follow his orders to deal with the protestors physically and jostled among them. “Let go! We can’t let a stranger visit Emberi! He might be a demon!” shouted protestors as they began to erode by the officers. People fell, people were trampled on, people were injured and people were belittled, yet people jostled amongst officers to protect their land from casualty arising from Azul’s choice of keeping his race a top secret.
“What an embarrassment,” sighed the chief paying no heed to the cry of his people as he perceived the situation as insensitive where he commenced another group of soldiers to stop the people from protesting.
“Tread back your combat boots right away!” boldly roared an invisible voice. This unknown voice seemed to be the solace of people. The chief began casting around for the origin of the voice while the protesters are hyped up at once.
Protestors spread around the quarter savvied about the upcoming panorama. The unknown voice tingled a strange behavior in Carlos’s officers. In lieu of immobilizing the group of people protesting, the officers started to act weirdly. Tensed about the situation, Azul murmurs to the person guarding him from front. “Chief Carlos, why do the officers look like they’re gamboling in this severe situation?” “Gamboling? Definitely not Mr.Azul.”
Cluster of Spiders larger than ordinary, one by one impending from the horizon followed by an overcast that began to devore up the bright blue sky. Spiders mounting up from the boots to the heads of Carlos"s officers is the reason why they looked like gamboling. They ran around, jumped around, laughed around, and played around, well the spiders.
“This is clearly why the leader told your officers to tread back their boots Mr.Outlawed!” it was a different voice this time.
“Who is intruding on this notable festive in Emberi!?” the chief was irked. “Chief, are you certain that you do not know them? Please look at the sky,” instructed Erix who was pointing his finger towards the sky. “I do not desiderate Erix. I wish it is not them. I will pretend not to know them,” chief Carlos whispered. “But it is them,” Erix disappointed the Chief.
Cloudless blues completely turned into an overcast that somehow looked innoxious to people. They stunningly ingress. Five conical crowns with a wide brim, valiant eyes that they were compelled to have, flaunting on their contrasting voguish gowns and pointed heels, seated on their magical broomsticks that added to their fearful yet ballsy stance. “COVEN!” exclaimed the people of Emberi.
Coven, a group of five fortitude Witches,
NOVELLE, the leader of Coven is feared the most not only for contemptuous looks but also for her audacious attitude that goes well with it. She might give out an impression of being insolent but as a leader, she is self-aware and prioritizes the welfare of others.
HAZEL, as waggish as her behavior is, she is the most sensible and competent. Her special talent is making sure that she gets on others’ nerves once in a while or maybe always.
MATILDA, mama of the group with alluring eyes and charming smile that snatches away all the attention towards her and that charisma she uses as a weapon to make her enemies go awry.
CARINA is more brains than brawn and tricks than long-drawn-out battle. Her crafty ideas never go in vain and keeps things simple while living a life carefree without rules and regulations.
CELESTE, the therapist of the group who doesn’t hang back from treating anyone mentally and sometimes physically too. Fond of things that look fancy and attractive, she’s a devoted follower of fashion.
“Who is this stranger? This man is on it again. Exploiting Emberi for his own benefits!” Hazel exaggerated. “Put the lid on your mouth, you witch,” the chief yelled from the ground.
“I’m Azul Maverick, by occupation a traveler,” he introduced himself wondering if he was in the right place. “Mr.Azul, let me deal with them. Tumble down to the land you darned witches!” the chief interfered.
Coven land near the port where Chief and others are standing. “Mr.Carlos, are you sure that this world belongs to “just humans”? Azul whispered. Novelle suspiciously walks towards the edgy Azul while the Chief tries to block her way. “Novelle, I hope you know your place as the leader of those 4 darned witches. Things would be better if you stop interrupting this event,” he warned her. “Chief, huh sorry, Mr.Carlos, you know that people love me better than you,” she says as she shows him a scene of people make a way for her towards Azul.
“No demon wings, no fairy wings, no witch’s hat, no demon horns, no wands in your hand, and you’re neither a dwarf nor a giant. I see normal teeth, black eyeballs and human skin and above all no magical sensation, to me you look like a normal human but strangely you’re not,” she hypothesized as she inspected by looking at the unknown traveler
“I’ve never disclosed my race in any world that I’ve visited until now,” he replies to Novelle.
“As you witnessed, the people of Emberi do not appreciate your intention of not disclosing your race,” said Novelle to which Hazel interfered “so, sweep yourself away from Emberi.”
“But you are permitted to stay in Emberi,” Novelle shocked everyone.
“Emberi would be flagrant if we kick out our guest on his first day. As long as Coven is with people, we will, in no way let anything that can cause distress. To maintain both the dignity and safety of Emberi, I’m suggesting you, Chief Carlos.”
“That’s cool, Leader!” Azul exclaimed.
“Let"s get going Mr.Azul,” the chief pulled him.
The five witches who seem to be living in the land of humans glided away to their place on their magical broomsticks before the seaport returns to tranquil.
Carlos deeply apologizes to Mr.Azul convincing him that something like this never happens again. “I understand Chief, It’s not their fault but mine. I shall enjoy my time in Emberi so don’t lose sleep. Also, I wish to meet Novelle again. Where does she live?”
“The government of Emberi is not interested in them witches, Mr.Azul,” the chief put forward an answer to his question.
“Then why do they live here?” Azul sounded curious.
“The government of Emberi is not interested in knowing that either, Mr.Azul,” that’s another “different” answer from the chief. Azul started packing his bag thinking that he might be inquiring the wrong person. “Anyways Mr.Azul, what’s beyond the sea?” the Chief was curious this time. “I’m not supposed to say that Mr.Carlos, because it’s the decision of the government of land of……,” he paused.
“Quite a scene at the port Novelle,” laughs out Carina as Coven enter their unseeable witch"s Castle, present in thin air, named as The Melian Castle. Present in the air, its entrance is made up of dark clouds which permits the entry only to Coven.
“Cosmos, Cosmos? What"s up Cosmos?” calls out Hazel to the one living in the castle with them. “No Hazel! Don’t search for it,” alerts Celeste as she began to prepare her magical broomstick to run away. Here it comes. Wobbling its huge ears side to side, hefty black paws bounded up on Celeste’s magical broomstick, tumbling along with Celeste onto the dark clouds surrounding the entrance. Cosmos starts out with nosing, l*****g, and jumping all over Celeste as he is a humongous demon familiar belonging to her.
Familiars are low-ranking demons that can take the form of any animal, probably as the possessor desires. Familiars of Coven were hellhounds which are fearful dogs with terrifying fangs and claws that served these witches since their day in the human world. They are Novelle"s Pansy, Hazel"s Peony, Matilda"s Ivy, Carina"s Thistle, and Celeste"s Cosmos.
Meanwhile, out there in the town soaking in broad day light, the Guide Erix, is having his hands full with the guest Azul Maverick in Emberi"s Market. Emberi"s one and only large market has all kinds of goods but magical items.
“So that’s where every human on this world makes their purchases,” Erix hollered and spread out his arms. “Is that a market or another city?” Azul seemed confused. “I would say, it’s another city,” Erix put forward his views. “But it’s after all a market,” seemed like Azul belittled it.
“You will know once you enter it. If anything I’m proud of in Emberi as a guide, it is this market. I have never been able to decipher its extent,” he marveled. “But it’s still a market!”Azul argued.
“By the way, Mr.Azul, what’s beyond the sea?” Erix was curious this time. “Something that humans mustn’t know,” Azul warned him.
“Do you, by any chance, know where the witches who showed up earlier live? I mean, I asked around people and hardly anyone told me about it,” Azul was expecting an answer.
“It’s somewhere a traveler mustn’t be,” Erix disappointed him.
“Come on, Mr.Erix. I would give one pleasing feedback on you as a guide before I return back to my place.”
“Really? Well, I would say they live up in the air,” his answer seemed unconvincing. “My eyes are looking forward to see Novelle again. Her personality and aura must have captured my heart,” Azul murmured. “Are you a warlock? Seems to me like that since your attentiveness is more towards Novelle rather than Emberi,” Erix guessed.
“Tell me their whereabouts Mr.Erix. As my guide, you must help me find Novelle, then I shall tell you what’s beyond the sea,” Azul insisted further.
“Mr. Azul, I have had enough of hearing the leader"s name ever since we left the Chief’s office. Even if I tell you where Novelle is, it’s impossible for you to see her since she lives in a place that no has perceived. Also, I exactly know what’s beyond Cymopoleia!” Erix was annoyed. “And what is it?” Azul asked.
“The world of evil!” yelled Erix. “Isn’t Emberi evil since the witches are inhabitant here?” Azul laughed “At least we know what they are, unlike someone,” Erix was really annoyed.
“And you choose not to tell me where Novelle is, right?” questioned Azul as the argument heated up. “I do not know, you, nosy young man!” annoyed Erix tosses his hat off to the ground and leaves.
“He"s gone.” “What does he take me for? I have self-restrained but Novelle will not,” Erix snapped.
Some unsatisfactory screech was heard from the market of Emberi. Erix ran worriedly and came across the supervisor of the market who looked guilty and downhearted. Erix anxiously enquired about the situation. It seems that there was a robbery. A total robbery of an entire harvest in one of their largest barns. “Who in the world would steal such a huge amount of harvest stockpiled in the barn in just a speck of time?” Erix inquired. “Guide Erix, there was no one close to the barn. Moreover, the lock was in one piece as if it wasn’t opened at all. There are possibly any suspects. We have received no reports on the time of robbery. It looks like the harvest disappeared on its own,” the supervisor was worried.
“That’s strange. Listen, do not tell this to anyone. Keep it concealed, okay? I would suggest you not to inform anyone especially the chief,” Erix insisted.
“Where on Earth did you disappear?” Azul sneered as he appeared out of nowhere.
“You startled me! I’m sorry Mr.Azul. I’m taking my day off today. Please continue exploring.”
“What an incompetent guide they’ve appointed. How could you abandon me!?” Azul shouted.
Robbery of an entire barn in the broad daylight with zero suspicions had the people go about Emberi to spread the news like a wildfire. “This market sees no end, it feels like another city! Wait! Did I just agree with what Erix said earlier!? No, it’s after all a market.” sighs Azul wandering in the market with no way of coming out. Wandering throughout he finally bumps into a person he’s familiar with. “What a blessed morning after ages Mr.Azul,” smiled Chief Carlos.
“Sadly, not for me Chief. I’ve lost my way in big busy Emberi. All I know in Emberi is Chief Carlos and this market.”
“What are you talking about Mr.Azul? Where is Erix?”
“He left me abandoned!” Azul cried.
“Bring that bastard to me right now!” the chief commanded.
A dome structure, number of pilasters with hundreds of rooms, and several stairs leading to the Cheif"s chair, the Chief"s office was basically the Castle of Human world, but a much modernized and simple one. The Chief"s office looked luxurious given that the sky was crystal clear which contrasted well with the mustard-colored building. The newly appointed Chief sat high on his chair with ministers, cops, and officials on either side of his seat. The cops bring Erix to the Chief"s court.
“Are you in a hurry to get expelled from your job, Mr.Erix?” the chief questioned.
“I just took a day off Chief. The next morning, I certainly led myself to his stay where he was not found.”
“How would you expect me to be present in my stay after abandoning me in that enormous market!?” Azul was trembled.
“But it’s after all a market,” Erix smirked.
“You know it’s another city in Emberi,” the chief informed.
“And I certainly warned Mr.Azul about it,” Erix smirked once again.
“Well, ugh, I’m okay with him taking off a day Chief. Back then I was too anxious and I apologize for that. It’s after all a market, yeah. Let"s get going Mr.Erix.”
“How do you call yourself a traveler when you’re afraid of losing your way?” asked Erix as they both head out of the office.
“My insecurity is my strength Mr.Erix. It can make me a pioneer.”
“Gibberish,” sighed Erix.
Meanwhile, at the heart of Emberi, Easton Morris, one of the richest men and obviously a farmer held a grand birthday celebration for his 5-year-old granddaughter. Easton Morris is known for the kindness he portrays among the people. With black greyish hair, he was in his mid-fifties and wore golden spectacles. This real gentleman looked very healthy showing that he could live for another sixty years.
Easton would effortlessly fall for people in need of help if they beseech humbly. The sufferings of others, whether they mean it or not, could instantly melt his heart.
The celebration was overcrowded by the people as the main magnetism was held by Coven. Remembering his granddaughter"s claim that they were her role models, he insists Coven to train her, the witchcraft.
“That"s gratifying Mr.Easton, we will surely show her how the spells work,” Matilda was delighted. “Jessamyn is going to be a witch!” Celeste cheered. “There"s no denying it Mr.Easton. We’re overjoyed to show off our spells and gems to Jessamyn as much as she is interested in getting trained,” said the leader of Coven. “Seeing how Mr.Easton named his granddaughter, it seems like he"s also a fan of flowers,” Carina smiled. “Just like Novelle,” Hazel looked at her. “I’m amazed by your love and enthusiasm towards flowers Novelle,” Easton praised.
“Just like, no love but enthusiasm towards me, Mr.Easton?” enters another great man holding in his hand a bunch of keys. Gareth Powell, whose part-time job is to vex his greatest rival and the nearest neighbor Easton Morris, makes an appearance in the ceremony. Well-built physically with a devious look on his face, Gareth is particularly a self-praiser and a fall guy for those who praise him. Anyone could boast about him and his wealth just to benefit from him. He treasures his late mother"s golden watch to his life and doesn’t let the shadow of people fall on it. Although Gareth, who is also a farmer, is younger than his rival, and in terms of wealth they lie on the same level.
“No disgrace to an uninvited guest,” Easton was disappointed on his appearance.
“I’m not here for the sake of ceremony but the sake of you, Mr.Easton”
“Cut to the chase, Gareth.”
“Stories spread in Emberi about the robbery in one of the biggest barns and it seems like the owner is unaware of it,” Gareth stated the reason for his appearance.
“What’s with the keys Gareth? Did you rob them by any chance?” Easton couldn’t get a grasp of the situation. “Absolutely not, Mr.Easton. I’m guarding my barn since my rival’s barn is almost empty,” Gareth specified.
“My lord, you must hurry over to the barn right now! It’s completely empty!” informs a supervisor of Easton’s barn. He ends the celebration and sprints worriedly towards the market along with Coven only to descry an empty barn. He learns from the supervisor that there were no suspicions and no evidence was found near the barn and that Guide Erix told them to keep it secret. He takes the matter to Chief while Erix who was with Azul is summoned to the Chief"s office once again.
“I would prefer not to keep tabs on the same person in a single day Mr.Easton,” Carlos was tired of Erix. “I told them to keep it confidential only from the likes of you sir. However, I was taking the matter to Coven as they’re much more capable and promising,” Erix sounded louder.
“How dare you? Since when did you pick up the guts to talk against me Erix?” “This is exactly what I’ve been wanting Mr.Erix. Call for them!” Azul exclaimed in middle of the fuss. “Mr.Azul, Coven is a group of 5 witches who do not belong to human world, more of a reason why we try to keep them afar,” Carlos explained to Azul. “Only the chief does. Mr.Easton, I would suggest you to seek the help of Coven since you know that they’re capable of finding the real looter,” Erix put forward.
“Erix, you are fired. Mr.Easton, there’s no need of proceeding with what Erix just suggested. I shall order a thorough investigation,” the chief made a sudden decision. “So, there’s no guide for me in Emberi right now,” Azul said calmly. “Mr.Azul. We do have another guide who’s as capable as Erix. I shall introduce him right away,” Carlos provided a solution.
“That’s fine Chief, I shall take my leave tomorrow since I’ve witnessed most of this miraculous place and I’m entirely satisfied.”
“As you wish, Mr.Azul,” the chief let him go.
The next morning, at the port, Azul was receiving a warm-hearted send-off by his fans along with Carlos and Gareth. “Isn’t he just a human?”, “He might be a fairy, he looks angelic!” “He’s a demon!” “He’s a witch, I’m sure of it”, “He’s a vampire, look at his teeth,” the people kept repeating.
“I apologize for the inconvenience Mr.Azul. I desiderate that Emberi be reminded as pleasing and serviceable place in your memories,” the Chief sobbed.
“The locket looks good on you Mr.Azul, was it a gift?” Gareth was curious.
“Thank you, Mr.Gareth. It was, yeah, something like a gift,” Azul replied.
“I’m as pleased as Punch to send you off Mr.Azul although I couldn’t welcome you.” Gareth hugged Azul. “And a punch targetting your serene is awaiting, Gareth,” a voice very familiar to him said. “And what is it Mr.Easton?” Gareth looked at him. “Robbery at your barn,” Easton’s answer was direct.
“That"s humorless, Mr.Easton. You might have lost your mind after losing your harvest,” Gareth gazed at him.
“I hope your mission of visiting Emberi was successful, Mr.Azul,” said Chief Carlos bidding a farewell to the unknown traveler. Gareth’s barn"s custodian later at the market explained about the robbery that took place yesterday night.
“It must be you, Easton! You were envious of me still intact with my wealth and desired to drag me down along with you,” Gareth alleged. “That is all foolish conjectures, Gareth. Why would I, who first reported about the robbery, be involved in it?”
“Of course, to seem less suspicious. I’m reporting you to the Chief, you looter!”
“Perhaps it is not him, Lord Gareth. Look what grabbed my attention. The evidence,” said the custodian showing him a blue hat. “Is this the guide"s hat?” “Did he steal my ginormous harvest?” they started suspecting Erix. Gareth and Easton report the guide to the chief, where he is summoned once again.
“Destiny bringing us together even after you’re fired. Was it you Erix? Is this why you told them to keep it secret? Is the Coven supporting you to haul the harvest?” the Chief seemed exhausted. “It is not me Chief. I haven’t had my eyes on this hat ever since I was summoned here for the first time. Never mind the times I confess that it isn’t me, you will still end up with your decision of locking me up in the prison, but I still request you for an investigation and Coven has nothing to do with this,” Erix seemed like he gave up.
“Lock him up right away!” The chief commanded.
