ARIA VERA: The Black Star

When anyone think of stars, twinkling brighness is the first thing that comes to your mind. However, I'm not that kind of star. I consume light to take all of it and eliminate any shine. I'm a black star, or we all know as a black hole. "Turn on your lights you vampire wanna be!" Mia exclaimed as she struggles to find the light switch in my room. "I call it conserving energy and saving mother earth, aw!" i squinted my eyes as the light from the fluorecent attacked me. "Get up and eat some dinner!" she marched to my bed and started yanking my left arm. "This is an example of moments that make me wonder why the hell am I living with you." She just laughed and pulled me harder that actually felt like my whole left arm will pop off. When I finally got up she started clapping like i should be proud of myself for simply standing up. She continue pulling me to the dining area so we can have our dinner. "Where did you get the extra energy to cook after killing our souls with multiple final exams?!" We sat down and started stuffing our faces. We silently ate while we looking to our phones. She suddenly dropped her fork and when i looked at her she was at shock. "Whats wrong?" "Kino... He got into a car accident!" Its his "best friend" but I do know she loves him. She stood up and started dragging her plate to the sink but it fell since her eyes never left her phone. I bolted to her and stopped her from picking the broken plate. "Hey, look at me." The moment she did, I felt her fear and worry. Wait, not just that. I read everything in her mind. She is so scared and want to drive immediately to the hospital. Shes in shock and its a mess inside her head. Mia thinks that she shouldve told Kino how she feels because accidents like this happens. Shes afraid that she will loose Kino without telling him how much she loves him. "I'll get an uber to take you to the hospital. Get dressed. I'm coming with you." Mia looks like shes lost in her thoughts. I put my hands on her shoulders and finally got her attention. "Get ready, we are going to see if hes okay." She nods fast and started crying. "Hey, hey its alright. Hurry take a shower first. We are going right away. Come on, stand up." I cleaned up and started getting ready to go. A few minutes later we got to the hospital and immediately saw Kino's mom crying. Mia ran to her, hugged her tight and started bawling. "Hi Mr. Mendez, hows your son doing?" I shook his hand but as we had an eye contact i know that Kino is still in the operating room for a surgery. I sat in one corner of the waiting area and watch people who are terrified that their love ones are in a middle of life and death. The woman beside me hasn't stopped crying. I handed her the tissue box beside my seat and as we meet eyes I found out that her infant is having a high risk surgery that can paralyze the child if anything goes wrong. "Thank you dear." she said. "Everything will be fine mam. Do you want some coffee? I'm. about to get one myself." We walked to the coffee machines just beside the waiting area. She told me about her daughter and the condition the infant is dealing with even though I know more than what she told me. She only have a thousand dollars in her account and this surgery wasnt covered by her insurance. She needs $83,000 to pay the whole surgery and other medical expenses. I quickly opened my phone and switched to the anonymous organization I created to pay medical bills of who I found in need. "I'm sure the doctors are doing their best." My ability to read minds gave me a great advantage in life. Although I live like an average person, I own multiple properties around the word. A round or poker can pay a few dozen medical bills of whos in need. I may be cheating by having my mind reading skill but I try to keep my life low profile to avoid suspicion of where I get all my income. I'm technically a teen billionare from all businesses, properties and accounts I accumulated from gambling and finding the best investments. I always win since I'm one step ahead of everyone. "Mom?" A guy around my age looked at me like hes trying to remember if he knows me. Our eyes meet but...wait. "Is there any update yet?" he ask Mrs. Saxon. "Not yet, Tri." Trisko Saxon...
