“What are you doing here?” Ice furrowed her brows as she hurried towards Jay, who leaned against the door frame, hands casually shoved in his pockets. “I came to pick up my wife,” he replied, his eyes lingering on Bianca. Mike was right, the dress would fit perfectly, it only appeared loose because she hasn't zipped up yet. “Why is her face red?” He thought, his eyes narrowing at her. “As you can see, she's not fully dressed,” Ice shot back, a glare forming on her face. “And that's such a warm welcome,” he said, brushing past Ice. Bianca gulped, scratching her neck as Jay approached her. “Get seated, Love. I can't slide you into your shoes while you're standing,” he instructed, pulling her zipper up. His scent enveloping her as she swallowed. “I didn't ask for your help, Jay,” she retorted, trying to maintain some control. “Sit.” His intense gaze left her with little choice but to comply. He gently slid her feet into the shoes, buckling them with care. For a fleeting moment, she entertained the thought of getting back at him by sinking the heels into his eyesockets, but dismissed it; Jay hardly looked like an enemy at that point. He extended his arm, urging her, “Get up quickly. We’ll be late.” His voice was low, yet commanding. Taking his arm, she rose from the bed, both of them heading toward the door where Ice stood dumbstruck. “The necklace,” Jay gestured to Ice who quietly placed the glittering piece in his stretched out arm. “Turn around, Love.” Bianca was reluctant but complied pulling her hair to the side while he fastened the jewellery around her neck. “If anything happens to her, you'll have me to contend with!” Ice grumbled while her gaze locked on Jay, who merely looked away before guiding Bianca out the door, holding her soft arm firmly. As they approached the car, Jay whispered, “What happened to your face? It looks a bit swollen” “None of your business” “I hope you didn’t tell anyone about the contract.” “I almost did,” she snapped and looked away. “Lucky you. Just be a sweet wife, and you’ll be free in two months,” he reassured, and she nodded. Was that supposed to make her feel better? He opened the rear door for her, and as Bianca stepped in, she noticed Mike had already started the engine. Jay got in and with a burst of speed, they navigated to a bustling building entrance, filled with reporters and flashing cameras. “Put this on,” Jay urged her, handing over a ring as the car halted. Bianca slid it onto her finger just as her door opened, and the hum of paparazzi drones erupted around her. Mike stood protectively until Jay joined her, and together, they entered the hall. “You’ll have your blood tested first before we get our tickets,” Jay leaned closer, his voice barely above a whisper as the paparazzi noises faded. The clinic smell hit her, making her instinctively cover her nose. “I hope you’re free of STDs,” he added, a hint of seriousness in his tone. “You mean the STD you might have given me?” she shot back, raising an eyebrow. “I already had my blood test and it's negative of such.” A nurse approached them and took a sample of Bianca's blood. “Don’t let your recklessness disqualify me from this conference,” he warned once the nurse was gone. “Well, I hope it does,” she replied defiantly. Her reply caught him off guard. If she's gaining any momentum of confidence he had to destroy it to the minimum. “I hope so too, so I can have a reason to post your s****l moves online. Snap or i********:?your choice, Love” Another nurse gestured for them to go into the doctor's office and they did. Bianca's heart raced as they stood, ready to confront whatever fate awaited her in the doctor’s office. “What if you turn out HIV positive?” The thought flashed through her mind, but she quickly pushed it away, trying to remain focused. “Misses…” the doctor began, fiddling with a piece of paper. “Bianca Jayden,” Jay completed, his tone steady. “Yes,” the doctor nodded. “Mrs. Jayden,” he called out, and Bianca’s heart lifted, her palms clammy with anticipation. “Here are your results,” the doctor said, handing her the paper, but Jay snatched it quickly, scanning the information. His expression darkened as he read, and Bianca’s heart sank. “How could Noah do this to me?” she thought, her heart breaking, but she couldn’t let the tears fall, at least not yet. “Unbelievable!” Jay exclaimed, crumpling the paper and tossing it towards her. “Calm down, Sir,” the doctor said evenly, but Bianca felt the weight of tension in the room. With trembling hands, she picked up the paper from her lap and slowly unfolded it. “Oh Noah, this isn’t the love you promised me?” thoughts raced through her mind with each unfolding. “Congratulations, Ma'am,” the doctor stated, as she finally glanced at the paper, her mind still spinning. “You’re three weeks pregnant,” he announced. “H_how?” She stammered. “What do you mean ‘how’, Love? We should be happy,” Jay smiled. He took her hand and kissed it, “I'm sorry I acted unhappy at first, I was only pulling your legs.” The switch in his tone steered a mix in her emotions. Should she be happy that she is HIV negative or should she be sad that pregnancy decided to show up, when she had a contract to compete for? “I'm so proud of you, Love,” he kissed her hand again. “Is he mocking me?” She thought as he lifted his gaze to hers. “The pregnancy is obviously Raph's. Jay had better not use this as an excuse to post that video.” “Aren't you happy, ma'am?” The doctor asked. “Why should I be?” She screamed in her head. “I am,” she smiled, wiping the tear that ran out of her left eye. “Tickets?” Jay leaned into his seat. The pregnancy is none of his business. All he needs right now is the ticket to the business conference. “They are a true couple!” The doctor announced, giving a thumbs up to the camera at the top corner of the room. “What?” Bianca's eyes glared while Jay held a straight face at the doctor. “Your blood sample is okay, ma'am.” “And our baby?” Jay raised a brow. He had to sound interested. Isn't that what husbands do? “It was a fake result to see if you both are a true couple.” “How dare you call us fake?” Jay growled. “Not at all. Different tests were carried out for different couples.” Jay sighed. “Here are your tickets,” the doctor added, sliding two black cards to Jay, “enjoy the conference.” “What was that about?” Bianca pulled herself away from him as soon as they got out of the clinic area. “A friendly reminder that you should always treat me as your husband.” “You are not my…” “Don't,” Jay held her chin, clenching his fingers between her jaws as he pinned her to the wall. “I would let you finish your statement next time and trust me, the consequences would trend,” he added and her eyes widened. He released his grip, leaning to her ear as he whispered, “There's a camera at one O'Clock.” She glanced at it and swallowed as she felt his breathe on her neck. It had been ages that she felt such warm breathe, especially on that region. “That's enough for them,” he leaned back and they continued into the conference room. “It wasn't a red themed party after all?” She said, glancing around the bustling crowd, the smell of expensive colognes filling her senses. “Who said it was?” “You did. In the note you put in the bag, dummy.” “Sorry what did you just call me,” his eyes narrowed at her and she bit her lip in regret. What was he going to do to her now?
