What is love

1424 Words
“Darling. I said darling or do you now have problems with your hearing?” “I have a problem with you not wanting to dare me.” “Why did you ask me to marry you, when you can ask another girl to?” “Obviously, huh?” “Yeah. You could have just given her the bag you sent to me and a few bucks, settled.” “I chose you because you are the weakest and most gullible,” he replied and walked away from her. “Weak?” She mouthed. “Gullible?” She shook her head as she descended into one of the seats of an empty table. She pulled her phone out and typed out everything that happened, to Ice. Scrolling through i********:, the pictures of her and Jay were on every blog. “Click’s latest model, Bianca, finally reveals the man behind her ever-glowing smiles Bianca storms City X business conference with her hot husband” The face of a popular skincare brand finally reveals the treasure she has kept secret for two years,” she read aloud as she scrolled by. “Ignorant bloggers,” she muttered. She was a bit afraid because Noah would surely come across one of those posts, and that would hurt him so much. On the other hand, she was excited that she finally got a chance to make him jealous, except that it was with Jay, her blackmailer. “Good evening, dear,” a masculine voice came from behind her and she lifted her eyes towards its direction. A wide set of eyes cringed at her. “Do you mind if I join you?” He asked and she nodded, tucking her phone back into her purse. “You look familiar,” he squinted. “Oh! Forgive my manners. I'm Hart” he stretched out his arm. “Bianca,” she replied, after a long pause, ignoring his arm which he then retreated. “Yeah, Bianca. I'm sure I've met you somewhere. I just can't remember where.” “I'm a model. You probably might have come across my picture online.” “A model? What happened to your smile, model?” He smiled. “Aren't you supposed to be with your wife, Hart?” “Fair,” he chuckled. “Well, she ran off with her friends before I could say, Jack.” She nodded. He picked a bottle of champagne and poured it into two glasses, handing her one “for the lady.” “Thanks,” she said as she took a sip. “Your husband has got eyes for jewellery,” he said, staring at her necklace. “You think so?” She squinted touching the pendant. “I know so,” he dropped his glass gently on the table. “I got one this morning, not this type though. I got it for my wife but she rejected it?” “Really?” “Yeah. She then showed me a picture of another that looks exactly like yours and said it's what she wanted,” he scoffed. “Did you get it for her?” “I gave her the money for it on her request.” “Hmm.” “Yeah. I feel we're drifting apart?” “With your wife?” “Yeah. You know, she wasn't like this when we started, she was clingy and valued every note I wrote her. But now, she says that the papers are messing up the house.” “That’s sad,” Bianca shook her head. “Yeah. She's chilling with her friends leaving me on my own.” “Someone is jealous?” “Your thought but if I say I love someone, I wouldn't want to leave them for a second. My time, my value, my world, she just became everything,” his voice shaky. “Even if she hurts you?” “Teddy would never cheat on me, but if she wants my head on a platter I would willingly offer it,” he smiled, his eyes wet as he nodded. “I think you need some fresh air,” she smiled, rising from her seat. “I think I know a perfect spot to get it without the paparazzi interference,” he said as he stood up and offered her a hand. As they navigated through the crowd, a guy accidentally spilt a drink on Bianca's dress, soaking it all over her chest. He seemed too engrossed in his conversation and Hart tapped him to reality. “Apologize, man,” Hart said. “To who?” he rolled his eyes at Bianca. “You're not f*****g blind. Go ahead and apologize!” “Forget it, Hart,” Bianca said, holding Hart's arm. “No, dear. He ain't leaving until he apologizes.” “You better listen to her if you don't want to get your tickets seized after an iconic ass whooping,” the guy laughed. “Apologize to her!” Hart yelled and just then, a punch landed on the guy's face. No, it wasn't from Hart cause he received his too! “Jay!” She yelled, her brows knitted as the two men held their noses with bloodied hands. “Which of them touched you?” He growled. He had seen her walk with a man in a white shirt, but the two men he punched had white shirts. “You should have asked that before throwing fists!” she yelled and walked away. He followed her and gripped her hand leading her out of the hall. He had to protect her so history wouldn't repeat itself. He had caught her drunk two years ago, and that was how her s*x tape… their s*x tape was made. “I left you for five minutes,” he began as they walked down the hallway, “and you were already causing chaos with a random guy to fight for you.” “Your grip is too tight, Jay,” she winced. “Is that how you apologize for cheating on me?” His grip grew firmer. “Cheating on you? You're the motherfucking fellow who is bent on making me cheat on my husband!” She yelled. He chuckled. “You’ve cheated on him before, and I'm only doing you the favour of not letting him know,” he said, relieving his grip. She was silent, not because she didn't know what to say, but because reminding him that he drugged her that night might lead to consequences. “Talking about this husband of yours, why hasn't he called you for the past three hours?” he scoffed. “Three hours? It's been a whole week, bro,” she thought. “He called.” “When?” “When you abandoned me in the crowd.” “And you only spoke for less than five minutes?” He chuckled softly. “One can say that that's one of the reasons I detest long-term relationships. You get crazy about each other for a week or two, after which, you become strangers, if not enemies.” “So you don't believe in forever?” “Of course I do. Strangers forever.” She stopped walking, staring at him. “So you don't plan on ever getting married?” “I am married,” he said, pulling her to continue walking. “To another man's…” “Hello, handsome,” a lady interrupted. She was about to lay her hand on Jay's chest, but he caught it and flung it off, and they continued walking. If his mum thinks that sending ladies to seduce him would make him lose his inheritance, then she should get a seat and continue thinking. Two months living off his brother's leftovers had been everything but fun. She had known him to be a hooker and reckless spender hence she seized all his assets and sent him out of his country to attend a godarn business conference. It didn't make any sense to him until he found out that he had to be married before attending it. “We're leaving already?” “Of course, I only came here to mark myself present.” “They have an attendance list?” “Not exactly. People have to tell my grandpa that I indeed came for this boring conference with a wife.” “Whatever, as long as I'm going home,” she sighed. “Who said so? What is love if I don't take my wife to the club?”
