An unexpected surprise
SIA POV
Two days!
That’s how long I have to wait before getting married to the love of my life, Nolan Reeds.
Our wedding was only two days away, yet I felt like it was an eternity. I still couldn’t get over the happiness of knowing that I would soon become the wife of the only man I had ever loved.
Nolan had been my childhood friend and our parents approved of our relationship. Everyone knew we would end up married, yet I cried for joy when he got on his knees in our favorite restaurant, La Basque, and asked me to marry him.
Now, as I pulled my car into the driveway of my parents house, I didn't expect to see Nolan's car parked outside.
"I need to pick up my suit from the designer" He had said an hour earlier, when I last spoke to him.
Why was his car outside my parents house? What exactly was he doing there?
I didn't think much about it until I walked into the house, as two bags of wedding supplies swing from NY hands.
My parents were at the dining table and as soon as I walked in, I sensed that something was not right.
My mother's fork fell from her hands, while my father's eyes widened with surprise—or shock.
"Mum? Dad?" I called out, confused.
I strolled over to the couch and placed the bags on it, then I edged close to the dining table.
"Are you okay? You look like you have seen a ghost!" I chuckled.
They exchanged a knowing glance with each other and an alarm rang through my mind.
"I told you I'll be coming over to show you the stuff I picked for my bridal shower, Mum" I said, ignoring the look on her face. "I also want Sienna to try them on too"
"You need to leave now" My father said with a sharp tone, rising from his chair.
The urgency or his words hit me with a force and I suddenly remembered Nolan's car that was parked outside the house.
"Where's Nolan?" I asked, my voice was barely above a whisper. "His car is outside. Did he come here?"
My father rushed at me, placed a firm hand on my shoulders and started to push me towards the door.
I pushed back at him, my frustration mounting.
Something was wrong and I had to know what it was!
I wriggled out of my father's grip and backed towards the wall.
"Is Nolan alright?" I asked, in a raised voice..
"Er-er. Baby, just leave, please" My mother muttered. Tears started to stream down her face as she approached me.
I flinched as she tried to touch me.
My father adjusted his glasses on his nose, shuffling his feet. "Sia, you don't listen" He said in a low groan.
My eyes darted between them.
It was only when my mother cast a furtive glance at the staircase that my sensed kicked in.
I stormed past them, shoving my father aside as he tried to grab my arm and I rushed at the staircase.
I skipped multiple steps as I ran up, not knowing where I was headed.
I didn't live with my parents, but Sienna, my elder sister did.
Without thinking, I rushed to her room and kicked the door open.
My mouth fell open as soon as I saw Sienna in bed with... a man!
My Nolan!
They were both sweaty and Sienna's upper body was bare as she straddled Nolan.
"What the h*ll?" I exclaimed, before I could get a hold of myself.
Sienna whipped her head back and her eyes met mine.
Then, her lips curved into a smile. Nolan pushed her off his body with speed and jumped out of the bed, grabbing his shorts from the chair besides the bed.
"Nolan...We're ge-getting married in two days and you're having s*x with my sister?" I cried out, almost choking on my words.
I grabbed the door knob and held on to it. I was giddy. My knees became weak and I felt as though I would fall to the floor.
"I can explain, Baby" Nolan said, as he struggled to put on his shorts. His eyes had a wild look, but I didn't care.
Rather, I looked past him at the only woman I trusted with my entire life —my elder sister.
She held the bedsheets against her chest and broke into a howling laughter.
"What do you want to explain to her, Nolan?" She asked, her eyes pinned on me.
Nolan went on his knees, clasping his hands in front of him, "It was going to be the last time"
"F*ck you, Nolan!" My sister hissed as she got out of the bed, still clutching the sheets to her chest, "Why don't you tell her how you belong to me, rather than her? Why don't you tell her that I am the only reason you still go ahead to marry her sorry ass?"
My eyes stung with tears and I staggered backwards. A sharp ache ran through my head.
Her words hung low in the air.
I turned to face Nolan.
"Have you been sleeping with my sister?" I asked Nolan, feeling the wetness of my tears on my face.
He nodded, "I love her, but I didn't want to hurt you. I am so sorry. I didn't mean for you to find out this way"
This was not true! A voice yelled at the back of my mind. This wasn't happening!
"Your sister deserves to be happy too" A deep, husky voice said behind me.
I threw my head back to see my mother and my father at the doorway. Mother was crying, and she looked at me with pity.
For the first time, I felt my mind go wild and the reality of what was happening swept through me..
"Sienna deserves to be happy too?" I shot back at my father. "I just caught her in bed with the man I'll be getting married to, and you see nothing wrong with that?"
"Baby, you will get another man. There are so many—" My mother started to say.
"To hell with you all!" I yelled, crying. Then, I turned and wagged my finger at Sienna. "I'll make sure you pay for this"
I stumbled out of the room, my vision blurry as a result of tears..
As soon as I got out of the house, I picked up a brick which laid in the driveway and smashed it at Nolan's windshield, shattering it.
Then, I rushed into my car and sped off.
