Liam’s POV The door clicked shut behind her, the sound echoing through the suffocating silence she left in her wake. My chest tightened. My hands curled into fists at my sides, my nails digging into my palms hard enough to sting. Damn it. I turned sharply, my breath coming too fast, too uneven, as frustration surged through me like wildfire. Ava’s words kept playing in my head, each one cutting deeper than the last. I can’t do this, Liam. Not this time. She thought I didn’t fight for us. That I didn’t want to fight for us. She had no idea. I ran a hand through my hair, my fingers clenching at the roots as I exhaled harshly. My pulse pounded against my skull, a relentless rhythm of frustration and something dangerously close to desperation. This wasn’t how this was supposed to go.
