Lucian’s POV
I ended the call slowly, then looked back at her. This time, I didn’t look away, nor did she.
She kept on looking at me, without removing her eyes as if she was trying to figure out something unexpected. For a moment, I became shy.
I should have looked away but I didn’t.
And something in that silence… changed.
She was the first to break eye contact, reaching for her cup and taking a slow sip, her gaze dropping briefly before meeting mine again as if nothing had happened.
I followed a second later.
“You have interesting timing,” she said quietly.
My brow lifted slightly. “For what?”
“For this,” she said, pointing between us. “Inviting me out and not letting me avoid you.”
I watched her for a moment. “Is there anything wrong with it?”
