The Beckoning

“Grove…. I’m looking for Grove…” Rowan says to the lady at the front desk in panic. “Down the hall to the left Sir…” the nurse responds, not giving it a second thought, Rowan Runs. As soon as he reaches his destination he stops in a Holt. “Mom?” He asks, “Good… we were only waiting for you…” She responds, Gesturing to all his other siblings waiting patiently. She walks towards the door and opens it slightly. Phoenix the first to enter, being the oldest. He soon follows… Stone, Pagan, Demetria and Valkyrie follow him. It was like a gust of wind was hit out of each other them. Phoenix and Rowan walk to the bedside of the man they once knew and love wholeheartedly. The man that tucked all of them to bed at night. The man that was with them most of their lives. Until only a few years ago. “Dad…” Phoenix says with a slight tear in her eye. Rowan grabs his sisters hand and squeezes it. Calum’s Eyes lift slightly, droopy as they may be, he recognized his kids in the room. “All six of you…” He says his voice raspy. “And my love… My Twin flame…” He refers to Their mother, reaching his hand out for hers in which she takes. “It’s my time to go…” He says again. Amethyst nods tears running down her face. “You were so good to me… Even when I had to leave you…” She rests her head on Calum’s shoulder. Her tears wet his bed gown. “Come closer kids…” He calls all six of his children closer. Which they comply. “It’s all your turn… I want you all to go to the Pentagram Graceland… It’s in the right of passage, the sacred six. You are all so sacred… I will always love you my children. I have to be with Nana now…” He says referring the last part to Phoenix. With that the vital Machine starts to beat slowly. His chest starts to move with the same beat as his slow heart, a sudden drop in breath and the heart monitor Machine flat lines. Not a second after a surge of wind suddenly rushes through each and every one of the Sacred six. Starting from Phoenix and ending with Valkyrie, Lifting each of them slightly off the ground and dropping them gently on the floor. After a brief knock out, Valkyrie was the first to lift her body up from the ground. “Mom?” She says looking around on the floor at the other five siblings starting to gain consciousness. Amethyst sit on a one seater couch in the corner of the room looking at Calum’s lifeless body. “It was cancer… He had it for about four years now…” “Okay what just happened?” Stone asks lifting himself steadily. “He went away because He was called to work… We were never divorced…” Amethyst says again, not answering stone. Stone helps Pagan up then Demetria. “What are you saying?” Pagan asks. Rowan starts to lift himself up. “ It’s not that he didn’t want to be with his kids… It’s that he couldn’t… We had to keep it from you all. He felt like he was letting you kids down…” They stare at her in disbelief. What on earth is she talking about? Maybe she was still in shock. “Oh Phoenix… Phoenix! We have to get her out of here! NOW!” She shouts suddenly looking at her oldest child getting up… “Huh?” Phoenix grunts slightly rubbing her painful head, as though she got knock pretty hard from that fall. All of them look directly to Phoenix who hoists herself up from the ground slowly. She stumbles back looking between her bed and her mother. She rubs her eyes… “Daddy?” She says pointing to the bed and to the man standing behind her mother with his hand on her shoulder. “Oh my baby… I know… But you need to get out of here…. I need you to run out of here. You need to cover your ears baby… Don’t be afraid to cover your eyes… I will explain everything when I get home okay…” Amethyst says, her siblings look at her as if she’s crazy. Except one… Rowan. He holds her hand. “I will take you home…” He say with a small comforting smile on his face. “Who are you?” She points to an empty corner. Everyone looks in the direction she’s pointed. “there’s no one there Nix… your freaking me out…” Valkyrie says looking at her sister weirdly. Phoenix has a crazed look in her eyes. “Okay breath Nix… Just breath… It’s just a hallucination…” she mumbles to herself. Rubbing her face with the hand Rowans not holding. “It’s Nana dearie… Don’t you remember Me?” the old women in the corner says. She doesn’t feel like a threat, but Phoenix is seeing this for the first time in many years, it is unmistakably overwhelming. “Did anyone else just hear that?” She shouts, “Hear what?” Valkyrie asks. They all look at her confused. “Rowan… Take your sister home… put her in a wheelchair, if there is one empty. Just to get her out of the hospital. She needs to be blind folded… You need to cover your ears Phoenix… Do you hear me?” Amethyst says Rowan nods and leaves to get a wheelchair for his sister. “Don’t be so Narrow Minded! All of you… You have no clue as to what is about to happen and what your sister is going through…” Amethyst shouts at the four of them still in the room. Excluding Phoenix. “Just what the hell is she going through…” Pagan Asks, “Oh you will all see… I want all of you back at the house In twenty minutes. I have my dead husband to take care of!” She says basically Chasing them out. By that time Rowan had returned with the wheel chair. “Don’t take the blindfold off Phoenix…” She says to Phoenix, “Don’t stop, no matter what Rowan…” She says to her son helping his sister. He nods. She put the makeshift blindfold on. Blocking her ears with her fingers as soon as she sits in the chair. “I will get you out here in no time…” He says to his sister although she cannot hear him.

Rowan races down the passage with the wheelchair, pushing it, incredibly fast.  “Rowan? Are you working this late?” A familiar voice calls down the passage, He stops for a brief moment in panic mode. “No Tessa. My father just died…” He says bluntly trying to get out of conversation, with the women that makes him grind to the bone every day. “If you will excuse me… I have to go…” He says but before he could finish. Phoenix thought they were already out the hospital because of the complete stop. She lifts her blindfold and releases an earth moving scream. “I’m going, I’m going!” He says picking up complete speed. “MOVE!” He shouts abruptly to the people standing in the way. His only worry at this point was getting his sister out of the hospital and helping her…

Stone fastens his seat beat as Page starts the car. ‘What the actual f**k just happened…’ He hears her say. “I don’t know but I can Guarantee that Mom has an explanation for it…” Stone says looking at his sister. “What are you talking about I didn’t say anything?” Stone looks at her puzzled. “I could have sworn you said something now…” ‘Maybe you also going mental…’ She says again, “What like Phoenix? She isn’t mental. She is the most rational out of all of us.” He responds in defense of his sister. Pagan steps on breaks bringing them to a complete stop. “I didn’t say anything out my mouth…” She says turning to him wide eye and crazed, “Yes. You. did. Page… Why have you stopped the car?” He asks her putting his hands up in the air. “I did say something… I said it in my head!” she says, causing Stone to look at her in a worried Manner. “Page maybe you are the mental one… Please just go home so we can clear this stuff up…” He says now getting rather pissed off at his sister, he felt as though she was making fun of Phoenix. “No.no You see I didn’t say ‘you were going Mental’ out my mouth… I was thinking it!” Stone rolls his eyes unamused. “right! Show me then if that is the case…” he says staring at her. He had move his body in an angle that he was in line opposite to his sister.  ‘I think your shoes look cheap and you need a haircut!’ “They absolutely Do not!” He gasps as he responds. “Oh my God, Oh my God… I’m going Crazy… I just read your mind!” He says freaking out completely. “Okay calm down! There must be a rational explanation for this Stone…” Pagan says pulling away from where she had stopped.  Panicked she sped off home.

“Ri-Ri do you want coffee? Um while we wait for Mom and the others to get back?” Demetria asks her sister, taking a seat at the breakfast table. Valkyrie looks at her sister and rolls her eyes. “If that was a hint to make you coffee… Its not going to happen…” She responds leaning on the kitchen door frame. “Oh please be a dear… You know your my favorite little sister…” She responds, but gets taken aback. When her little sister suddenly straightens up and nods, She walks over to the pot. Boiling it for Coffee… “I should use that line more often…” Demetria says smirking. She stops smirking when her sister doesn’t respond to her little joke. “Coffee…” Valkyrie says putting the cup of freshly brewed coffee in front of her sister. Her tone was so cold and monotonous. “right… This isn’t creepy whatsoever…” Demetria says looking at her sisters weird eyes. ‘Arf-Arf!’ Demetria’s eyes fall to the floor. “Cato… Awe! Hello my beautiful boy…” She says getting off her chair and hugging her dog. “It feels like for ever since I’ve seen you…” She says again, petting her dogs head, as he wags his tail in happiness. ‘Because it has… Dog years Demi… Dog years….’ Valkyrie being out of her trance like state also saw this with her own two eyes. “Cato…. Cato just spoke!” Valkyrie stutters pointing a finger at the dog, that looks like his smiling. Demetria jumps back landing on the floor. “Okay what the hell did I take today… Maybe I’ve been drugged… Maybe I’m hallucinating… Oh my God!” Valkyrie mumbles, worry written on her face. “If you heard what I heard then we are both going crazy!” Demetria says hoisting herself up. She takes Cato to a downstairs bathroom and closes him in. She goes back into the kitchen releasing a visible and heavy sigh. “this day is getting crazier and crazier…” she say going back to her coffee taking a gulp.

Suddenly the front door is barge through. Rowan carries Phoenix upstairs. The two girls heard it from the kitchen. Soon following a panicked Rowan. “Mom said she mustn’t take her blind fold off…. I’m sure she’s fainted. She threw up in the car… She not okay! I don’t know what to do! I stopped for a second in the hospital and the avalanche began she took off her blind fold and then she threw up on the way here and now she’s lifeless!” He rambles on as he puts his sister down on her bed.  “Calm down!” Valkyrie says taking her sisters pulse. “She still has a strong pulse. Relax. Maybe lets just let her rest a bit and then when mom gets back she will know what to do.” The three of them retreat down stairs leaving their sister in solitude.

Pagan Rushes in with Stone. He covers his ears with his inner palms, massaging the top his head with his fingertips. “Just don’t think anything!” She says hushing her brother and two sisters. They look at her puzzled. ‘What now?’ Valkyrie thinks, ‘what is she talking about?’ Demetria thinks, ‘Moms going to be so angry… I was suppose to protect her… I’m such a bad brother… ‘ is what was going through Rowans head. But they continued thinking. Thinking of everything and anything they could. “CAN YOU PEOPLE JUST SHUT UP!” stone shouts, spinning on his heels and stomping upstairs to his bedroom. He walks past Phoenix’s room, pausing in front of her door. “Open Yee Eyes my sweet child the witching hour has just begun, The protection of the Five shall sound thee heart, Don’t be deceived by the Fervorous mock sun, The sacred six will never be apart, they act as one…” he hears her through the door repeating it over and over again. He walks straight on to, his bedroom not stopping until he closed his bedroom door.

Waking up to Jinx licking her forehead. She scratches his head smiling. “Hello my baby Jinx… I’ve got a lot to tell you, I had this most outrageous dream…” ‘I’ve got so much to tell you too…’ The cat responds, she falls off the bed looking at him crazed.  ‘Don’t be scared… I’ve waited a long time for you to hear me, well um, hear me as a cat that is…’ He says again. Phoenix, massages her temples on her head thinking that will help take away the madness. “God take this away from me… Please… I don’t know what’s happening to me!” she says closing her eyes and putting her hands together in prayer. She opens her eyes and Jinx no longer sits on her bed looking at her. She sighs thinking it was just a part of her dream. ‘If your done with that, then we can talk… I mean you’ve never been that much of a holy person and all I don’t know what’s changed’ The cat says appearing at her feet. She lets out a scream. ‘hush now it’s not necessary for that noise!’ he says covering one ear with his paw. ‘Cats are highly sensitive. To noise you do realize this?’ Phoenix looks at him frozen in one spot. ‘Right let me introduce myself… My name is Mason Alexandro Dolus… You know me as Jinx…’ The cat says.  “Breath Nix… Breath… Its just a dream…” Phoenix says to herself. ‘I don’t know what exactly must happen to you for you to realize that it isn’t a dream…’ The cat says. Phoenix sheds a tear. ‘Oh no… No… I never wanted you to cry… I know how over whelming this may be… I mean twenty eight years old and only discovering you are a witch… and your Twin flame is a cat, must be difficult to take it all in at once…’ Her eyes widen with his words, wiping away the tears from her eyes. “A Witch?” ‘oh no… Amy didn’t tell you… Oh no… I’m sorry my beautiful Nix. I’m going to be quiet from here on out…” The cat says again now walking away from her with his tail in the air. “WAIT! Don’t go…” She shouts at the cat before he jumps on her desk to jump out the window. The cat turns back. ‘Maybe I need to come to you in my human form… you will be more, Um appreciative. But please don’t be angry…’ He says retreating into the closet. She stares at the closet, patiently waiting to see the cat. The door handle rustles, and slowly it opens. “What the actual f**k Mason!” She shouts, getting up from the ground. She recognized those Amber eyes that pierced through her emerald ones. “What the f**k is going on!” She shouts very angry. “If you would like, I can go back to the cat…” He responds a small smile on his face… “Mason you were my friend since birth. You have been for all these years. How is it possible you can be a cat, and your human, and I don’t know and I’m a witch? And I am so Confused? And I can see dead people? Like the sixth sense s**t kinda dead people, and I don’t know what’s happening, What are twin flames? and can you please just cover yourself!” She rambles on. she looks down at his naked body, His chiseled body, reminds her of the time he had taken her virginity. Mason, Well mason in his human form was a sort of a trickster, they would always get into trouble together, and her father didn’t like their relationship. She never took it off. He moves closer to her. Now concealing his man bits, he wraps his arms around her head pulling her close and into his chest. He was much taller than her. His black hair reached his earlobes and his lips were always pink. His eyes never freaked her out, as she too had a freaky eye color according to herself.  “You have a lot of questions… Sit and then you can ask me… I will answer what I can…” He says pulling her to her bed. She didn’t feel scared anymore. She felt comfortable with Mason. He sits next to her and takes her hand. “Shoot…” He smiles showing his dimples. “Okay so I’m a witch? How?” Phoenix asks, “You are and so is your mother… Your father is a Warlock…” “A witch and a Warlock…” Phoenix says out loud trying to wrap her head around things. He nods his head, “Okay, so why did I like, only come into whatever powers I have now? I’m a bit late in life aren’t I? And I mean what are my powers? Besides the seeing and hearing dead people?” “Well I cant exactly explain why… there is a lot of history behind it, But there was a spell put on you… to take the memory of ever having magic away. It paused your magic. I was told to be by your side but only discreetly. I was very small when your magic was taken away so I couldn’t contest. You have multiple gifts but Clairvoyance and Necromancy are two of them… It was direct orders given by your father to us… Um Familiar’s… All we were told was it was for the best. She shakes her head running out of the room, He follows suit, running after her. She makes her way down the spiral staircase.
