Chapter 1

1143 Words
Sophia’s POV My phone began to ring as I walked out of the wedding dress shop. I picked it out from my bag and it was Amy calling. I could have invited her to tag along with me, if I had known that Chloe, my sister wouldn’t be able to join me. “Hey, Amy. Good morning,” I said. “Hello, love. Good morning and how are you?” she replied. “I am fine. Asides from feeling awkward that I had to test out my wedding dresses alone without anybody here with me,” I said while pouting my lips. “Why is that? Wasn’t your sister supposed to go with you,” she probed further. “She isn’t picking her calls. I guess she forgot,” I replied. “I don’t believe that, I am sure she just didn’t want to join you,” Amy retorted. I rolled my eyes inwardly, there she goes again. Amy is my best friend but she feels she gets this bad air whenever she is around Chloe. She believes that Chloe is a pretender and doesn’t look out for my best interest.  “Seriously? So, I believe that at this point, there won’t be an end to your dislike for my sister,” I said. “Not until you realize the kind of person she is. Anyways, you should have called me to come help you out,” she replied. “I felt you would be busy at work,” I said while straighten my hair that was blown scattered by the wind. I love to leave my long hair down. “I am never too busy for you, sweetheart. I have to get back to work now though, my boss is super angry today,” she quickly responded and ended the call. I could have made her my maid of honor but I decided to use Chloe instead since she is my only surviving family. I am glad Amy understood anyways. Chloe might always seem cold and distant but she is still my sister. When the call ended, I decided to check on the notification I received while on the call with Amy. I found out that it was a mail from a company I had applied to right after college. I closed my eyes and said a little prayer before I summoned up courage to open the mail. I finally opened it and I had to keep staring intently at my phone to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I couldn’t believe what I saw I felt like crying. Actually, don’t get that wrong. I meant tears of joy. “Dear Sophia Reeds, Here within lies your employment letter……” I couldn’t get enough of reading the mail, I was brimming with happiness. “Finally,” I screamed at the top of my voice and jumped around dancing with my hands up. I could feel the stares coming from those around me but I didn’t care less. “They could look all they want for all I care,” I thought. I was so happy that my life was finally coming together as I have planned. I quickly took out my to-do list out of my bag which I always carry with me. I opened to the page where my life plans were clearly written out. Finish from high school- Checked Finish from college – Checked Get a job – I took out my pen and with a huge smile on my face. I scribbled “Checked”. I looked further down the list… Get married to Brian – Get intimate with Brian your husband – I smiled at how I could see the future and how I could finally see myself checking out the remaining part of the list. I was getting married to Brian my high school sweet heart in 3 weeks and finally we would be able to get intimate on our wedding night. I could not wait for that day. “Oh, s**t” And just like that I remembered that I had gotten so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn’t realize that I had to call Chloe to tell her about the good news. Chloe had always felt I was crazy having a plan for every stage of my life and she doesn’t believe that life can ever go as planned. So, I promised her that she would be the first person I would tell about my employment, if I am to get one right after college. I picked my phone to call her again and the phone keeps ringing but she doesn’t pick up. “I guess she is really busy at work, maybe I will just go wait for her at her place,” I thought. Yeah, you read that right. I and Chloe do not stay in the same house. We are orphans and we lost our parents when I was 8. Chloe is just a year older than I am. We grew up under different shelter homes because I never wanted to be away from her neither did I want us to be taken separately by foster parents. She has always been the sassy sister and the bolder one. She didn’t go to college and instead dropped off at high school because she felt it was a waste of her time. We finally grew off each other and then she said she wanted to stay in a different place. I couldn’t question it at that time because I felt we were now of age to live our lives the way we wanted. I had finally arrived at Sophia’s house, so I put in the spare key I had. But, it seems the door wasn’t actually locked. P.S The reason why I have her spare key is a topic for another day.  “I guess she is at home,” I thought. That’s weird because she isn’t always home by this time. Is she okay? I pushed the door open and entered her apartment. I could see clothes littered everywhere on the floor and chair and everywhere. “Chloe….,” I called out. I looked around for her then I finally see my sister naked underneath a man at the far end of the living room. “Oh my God, I….. I….. I am sorry,” I was about to shield my face in disgust and unlook what I had just seen. I quickly looked back to be sure of what I had seen. Lo and behold…. “Brian…..,” I choked out. I couldn’t even call out his name amidst the tears that were brimming in my burning hot eyes at this point. They weren’t even trying to cover themselves up…….. It finally registered in my brain. I had just caught Brian my fiancé on top of Chloe, my sister having s*x!!!!!!!!!!!
