Jake’s POV
“It was nice doing business with you,” I said while shaking the hand of the new business partner my company had acquired.
“Likewise, Mr. Jake Evans,” Daniel Woods responded.
My secretary comes in and leads in out of my office.
I had just closed another contract. This was a multi-billion dollar contract.
My company Evans Dynasty is a family owned company. It started from my grandfather who built it from the scratch. Both of my parents had died while I was young in an airplane crash. I was then raised by my grandparents.
Now, my grandmother is the only surviving family I have. I have made the family proud by expanding the company and increasing the company’s stocks in just 5 years of my joining the company.
I gather the files that I had to review on my table. But then my eyes swayed to the picture frame on my desk. It was a picture of my daughter, Katie. I picked up the frame and trace her cute smile with my fingers.
I closed my eyes and I could see Katie smiling at me while running to hug me like she does whenever I return home from woke.
“Welcome daddy. How was your day,” she would always ask.
Her smile was the only thing he needed to relieve his stress.
Only if it was possible to turn back the hands of time and be the one to pick up his daughter from school instead….
My dear Katie wouldn’t have died.
Just as I was still staring into Katie’s picture, a hand reaches out and takes the picture out of my hand gently.
I was shocked as I hadn’t felt the presence of anyone around but later relaxed when I realized it was my cousin, Gabriel.
We both look into each other’s eyes and it carries a lot of weight in it.
Understanding. He understood what I was going through.
Gabriel has been my closest pal ever since I lost my parents. He knows me best.
“It’s high time you get over your loss Jake,” he said.
He looks at Katie’s picture in his hands. He had this smile on his face as he probably was remembering fond memories with her. I know he was also hurt. He was her favorite uncle.
“We all loved Katie as much as you did. But she isn’t coming back to us. You have to move past this phase of your life,” he said as he dropped the frame on the table.
“Man, I am trying but it’s hard trying to forget about the only bundle of joy I had in my life,” I said.
“You are not supposed to forget about her, Jake. All you have to do is try to live with the pain. While believing that she is in a better place,” Gabriel responded.
“I am trying,” I replied.
“Well, try harder. It’s been 8 months. I am sure Katie wouldn’t be happy knowing you are living your life like this,” Gabriel retorted.
“I am sure she would want her daddy to stay happy and this is why I am here,” he added.
“I wonder what you have planned this time…..” I replied as I am tired of him always planning hang-outs for me. I have been generally cold ever since her Katie’s death, not wanting to socialize.
“Before you say you aren’t interested. I guess it’s true then that you have forgotten that tonight is my bachelor’s party,” he quickly
“Oh s**t, that’s true,” I exclaimed.
Damn, I was a failure as a best man and a friend. I was supposed to help in relieving some duties of the wedding but I had left everything to him.
“I am so sorry, dude. I have been so caught up in my problems that I am failed in my duties as a best man,” I quickly added feeling sober.
“Don’t worry. I understand the phase you have been in,” he said trying to cheer me up.
“….but as compensation you have to be at the party,” he added.
I knew there was no way of escaping this. I had to consent. I already felt too bad to say “NO”.
“Sure, I wouldn’t miss it”
That sure made him excited. I felt a bit relieved about this.
He has always been by my side through rough times. This is the least I could do.
He explained about the arrangement of the party and the venue. He also explained that rooms have been paid for in the hotel room which was close to the lounge, the party would be hosted.

Victoria’s POV
I guess it’s time I played my cards. She picks up her phone to make a call.
“I just got information that Jake is going to be at the bachelor’s party of his cousin,” she said over the phone.
“I have a plan and I want it to be in motion tonight. Note this two things, spike his drink and get the girl ready for the show” she added.
“By tomorrow the headline should be POPULAR BUSINESSMAN, JAKE EVANS INVOLVED IN A SCANDAL. Get your men over there now and do as I have instructed,” she said while ending the call.
She sends the location to her men and smiled wickedly while chuckling at the possible outcome of tonight’s event.
“I would finally get the revenge I have yearned for,” she says while laughing out.

Jake’s POV
I had just arrived at the party. I could see everyone buzzing around and dancing. Ladies were on another section of the room. I couldn’t bring myself to look at them. How I loathed that gender!!
It seemed like I looked over dressed for the occasion.
I came to this place straight from the office with George. I left my suit in the car and I was putting on a grey shirt and pants.
The shirt hugged my chest like second skin accentuating my broad shoulders and abs. I tried loosening up my shirt and fold my sleeves so that I could look less serious. I could now feel the stirs from some ladies in the lounge. This was a normal reaction I get whenever they caught sight of me and it disgusts me.
Gabriel and the other guys around were just having fun and taking their drinks but I felt suffocated there. So, I stood up and walked up to the bartender’s desk to order for some shots.
“Can I get 3 shots of whiskey, please,” I say to the bartender.
“Okay, coming right up sir,” the bartender replied.
“I guess I need to loosen up while I am here,” I thought.
I didn’t want to put up a sorry face at the party and ruin Gabriel’s day by being dull.
“Here you go sir,” the bartender offers me the it to me.
I take it and in one gulp I take them all down.
“Wow, that was really strong,” I said to bartender while he smiled at me.
After a while, my head started tingling and I could feel hot sensation around my body.
“What was happening, was the drink that strong,”
I tried to walk off from that area and use the toilet. Possibly I would feel much better.
As I stood up to leave, a girl who was coming out from the toilet bumps into me and when she looks up at me.
I couldn’t believe that a person could be this beautiful…..
“Heeeeeeeyyyyyyyy,” she slurs out and almost slumps.
