CHAPTER 03 Moving in with Mr Knight.

I whispered, "Won't that be a little bit unprofessional?" Mrs. Johnson seemed to be trying a little too hard, licking her lips like she forgot she's married. Ezekiel didn't let her get inside him. Like Alice tried but failed. Ezekiel was definitely a hard nut to crack. "Give me a moment to talk to your boss for a few hours," Alice requested, giving me a jealous look. Seriously, she thinks I'm into Zeke? I laughed under my breath and whispered, "Don't worry, I'm not into Zeke so it's not a competition. You might be older, but I'm more mature." "I'm with pleasure," I said as I bowed down and left the office. Outside the office. Everyone was staring at me. I don't blame them. Even while wearing this 1990s look, I still look like a ten, even Ezekiel can agree I do. "Should I call your dad?" Kylie asked. Ryan was sitting on the ground floor couch, keeping a nice distance between people. "That won't be necessary," I said, breaking the one-meter rule. Kylie tried to warn me, but I crossed it, a few steps away from the couch. "What are you doing here?" Ryan asked, speaking for the first time since he got to Knightdale. "I should be asking you the same question," I replied, looking at him. He seemed uneasy, probably because of the looks he got from people around him. "Okay, how about we go to the cafeteria and grab something to eat?" I suggested, seeing how uncomfortable he was. Ryan asked a question that I couldn't answer, "Mom, why don't you move in with me and Daddy?" "My sister won't allow that," I replied. Ryan asked, "Oh, you have a sister? Is she as cute as you?" I corrected him, "Oh no, I have twin sisters, Shantel and Antenna." Ryan told me, "Well, the first day I saw you, I thought you were a model." Ryan and I chatted for hours until he fell asleep on my lap, along with me. Zayn, who is a shareholder, just annoyed the heck out of me. "Do I pay you to sleep?" he shouted. Ezekiel defended me while I was sleeping, "Corrections, you don't pay her, I do. Zayn, do I pay you to shout at my staff?" The noise woke Ryan and me up. "Dad, what's going on here?" Ryan asked, looking more than cute after a nap. Ezekiel gave a simple answer, "Nothing." Alice came from out of nowhere, "Is everything okay?" she asked. Ezekiel replied, "Yes." "I don't like that woman," I said loudly. I thought I said that using my mind. Ezekiel asked, "Are you jealous that she's hotter than you?" "You wish," I replied, rolling my eyes at him. I checked the time and told him, "I'm going home." Ezekiel seemed happy, and I felt that in my blood. "Sure. Thank goodness I won't wake up to your ugly face." It's Time: 20:30 p.m., and I'm driving straight to my apartment after a long day at work. I stopped and collected a few burgers to use them to trick Shantel into not wanting a mountain of news from me. "Please, dear God, save me from the Emperor of darkness," I pleaded. Shantel caught me when I was trying to crawl my way to my room. "I just hope he can save you from me," Shantel said, leaving no space for me to breathe. "Yhoo God, my worst nightmare has come to life. The emperor of darkness is in front of me," I shouted as I teased my favorite twin. Shantel said, "I thought you were referring to Antenna." "Don't tell me that Antenna is here," I said, very shocked. Antenna was the last person I wanted to see. Shantel asked me, "You can just look outside." I opened the curtains and saw Antenna's car. Damn, that black Lamborghini Urus only belongs to Antenna. I double-checked the number plate. I said it about five times, "ANT 7877." Antenna just got inside the house and was like, "What's up, bitches?" Don't worry; this ain't an insult; it's just Antenna's everyday happy mood. "Hello would be a little bit nicer," I told her as I put the burgers on the table, prepared to run to my room as soon as they dug in. Shantel and Antenna were staring at me weirdly. I returned the eye too. "Can you two just cut the crap?" Antenna was scared. "You have crabs here?!" She screamed. Shantel and I laughed at our silly sister, the one who is afraid of crabs but is able to order them in a seafood restaurant. Antenna asked, "Phew, then what did you mean, 'cut the crab'?" "I meant 'cut the crap' figuratively so," I told her, but I didn't stop laughing; this was so funny. Shantel said, "Is that your way of distracting us so we don't ask where were you last night?" Shantel didn't get the burger distraction well today. Antenna was shocked because I'm known for sleeping in one place, and that's my apartment. She just got outside the page, suggesting that I have a man. Bloody Antenna. "No, it's not like that," there was no way I'm giving them a man without having a man. Antenna asked, "How was it?" "How was what?" I was confused. What is this girl talking about? Shantel said, "Under the sheets," she gave me an all-knowing look. "I don't know," I answered plainly. Antenna told me, "Playing dumb, I see," she smiled. "I'm not playing dumb; I was with Ryan Qin," I told them the truth. Antenna was shocked. "You mean like Ezekiel Qin's son?" Shantel asked, "The sociopath?" "He's not a sociopath; he's..." I wanted to defend my Ryan. Shantel wasn't curious about the kid. "Don't tell me about the kid; tell me about the hottest bachelor of the state." "No, no, I'm not going to talk about the motherfucker," I protested. Antenna said, "Tsk, you know you're boring." Shantel asked, "Is he a 'die for' meat?" "Don't forget you have a boyfriend," I had to remind her. Shantel said, with no shame left on that body of hers, "Forget about him. I can dump him just to be with Ezekiel." I giggled. "Can you even be a mother?" Antenna said, "Take a close look," pointing at herself. "This is a structure of a perfect wife and mother." They started talking non-stop about Ezekiel Knight. "Now I'm starting to think I was meant to be the older one," I said. Later that night, we slept late because Antenna and Shantel didn't stop talking about Ezekiel Knight. The next morning, Antenna woke me up when I was busy dreaming. "What the f**k, Antenna? You made me sleep out late last night, and now you're making me wake up early. Like, who created you?" I was pretty annoyed at her this time. I picked up my pillow and threw it hard at her. "Obviously, G-O-D," for no good reason, she was happy. Like, more happy than normal. One can say she's crazy. "What do you want?" I didn't wake up from my warm, sweet bed. Antenna just broke the ice. "Mr. Knight and his son are waiting outside for you." "What the..." My eyes opened wide. I rose up and went to the living room. There he was, Mr. Knight, sipping coffee, sitting on my couch. My coffee. Mine! "S-sir, what are you doing here? It's Saturday," I was unable to overcome my surprised look. Ezekiel asked, "Can you excuse us?" Antenna introduced herself and left. "Did you miss me?" I just had to lighten up the mood, but guess what? If thinking was an everyday job, I was definitely going to be unemployed. Ezekiel said, "Never. That will be in your dreams and in my nightmares." His statement was cold like ice. Ryan asked, "Mommy, you told me you won't leave us. Where were you last night?" He looked like he didn't sleep. It seemed like he was crying the whole night. I hugged him. He embraced me tightly, like he wasn't going to let go. "How did you find my address?" I had to ask because I don't remember throwing my address around. Ezekiel insulted me. "Are you stupid, or are you just pretending to be stupid? I saw your address in your profile." "Oh, the profile," I remembered. Ezekiel asked, annoyed, "What did you do to my son?" "Nothing," I replied. "Then why was I woken up early just so my son can see your face?" Ezekiel was impatiently waiting for my answer. Ryan begged me, "Mommy, will you please move in with us? I promise I will be a good boy and do my best at school. And one day be the best." "Sorry, but my sisters won't allow that," I told them. Antenna and Shantel said, "Says who, you?" Why are they my sisters? I did a facepalm. Antenna said, "Stop being a drama queen and pack up your things." "You're kicking me out?!" I was shocked. "We're not kicking you out," Shantel said. "Ezekiel said, 'Don't worry, I will pay you $300.00 every month.'" That was a lot of money for me to be there for his son. Was he trying to buy me with money? Who does he think he is? Ryan never left my hand. He wanted me to agree. I promised him I wouldn't leave him, and I just had to keep my word. Was I really ready for the responsibilities? "That won't be necessary. I care about Ryan as if he's my own son," I told him, refusing to be bought with money. Antenna was shocked. Well, she knows I won't reject money like that. Shantel was happy. One can say it's because she was a few feet away from Mr. Knight. "Ezekiel said, 'Okay, I will send someone over to pick up your stuff.'" During the conversation, Ezekiel was different. I mean, one would say he's going through s**t. But I couldn't figure out why. Ryan didn't want to leave with his dad. After ten minutes I finally convinced him to go along with his dad.
