Chapter one
"Who's there?" His voice boomed through the dim room. "Sienna, is that you?" "I've been waiting." He added sharply. Cara froze in place. She stopped at the door with her hands still on the doorknob and looked back to confirm the room number. “Room 114.” It was the right room. This particular room was flagged for turndown service and she had eleven more rooms before her night shift ended. She had pulled the door open slowly, assuming the room was empty. It was certainly not. The rooms that were occupied were always noted, so it was shocking to find someone inside. She took gentle steps forward, her eyes scanning through the room in search of whoever owned the voice. "I've been waiting for you." He exhaled slowly. "Sir, I think…" She was about to explain that there must have been a mix-up. The room was dim, the only light coming from the bedside lamp that threw a warm amber glow across the walls. The curtains were drawn tight. She could make out the shape of someone on the bed but not much else. She got totally lost in this strange man's golden brown eyes. Tall, large, powerfully built .. a typical “big boy”. Fair skinned with full dark hair that hit the back of his neck, with strands that fell onto his forehead. He drew himself closer and laid his hands on her waist gently, like he was afraid she would break. "What are you doing?" she asked, eyes wide. She could tell the man was drunk and didn't know what he was doing …. but he was so good looking she couldn't resist even if she tried. "Aaah…." she gasped as he lifted her like she weighed nothing, his large hands gripping her waist and pulling her up until her legs wrapped around him naturally, crossing at the small of his back. Now they were face to face. She could feel the man's desire from being this close, her arms finding his shoulders to steady herself. The air between them was warm and close, their breath mixing, his forehead almost touching hers. She lifted her right hand from his shoulder and parted the strands of hair falling on his face. The action was involuntary ….but that was when she realised nothing was stopping the moment. Even if anything could ….it certainly wouldn't be her. He leaned forward and gave her a smooch that turned into a passionate French kiss, like two people who had been abstinent for years. ………. She woke up and found the strange man asleep. She could not help but stare with a smile that reached her eyes. She was definitely counting herself lucky for being with a man this hot. Her head slowly turned from him and landed on the clock. “9:02pm.” "I'm going to lose my job. I'm going to lose my job. I'm going to lose my job." She cried out. She got up from the bed and picked up her clothes from the floor one by one and put them back on. She looked normal now … black skirt, white blouse, black stockings, hair in a bun that had loosened slightly, with a few loose strands falling around her face. She knew better than to lose this job. Even with this job her financial life was miserable...imagine her with no job at all. Spending a night with a client was unprofessional and unethical. She could get fired for it. But she was only thinking about it now, after having the best night of her life. "I'll just make up an excuse," she thought out loud, pacing the room. "Yes! I'll tell the hotel manager I'm tired and sick and fell asleep in one of the rooms." "I need to get out of here." She muttered to herself and left the room in panic, not turning back to look at the bed .. the tangle of white sheets, the pillows scattered, the duvet twisted to one side, and the strange man laid on it fast asleep. Evidence of a night she was already trying to convince herself had not happened. She did as she planned. The manager didn't suspect a thing. She had been diligent and hardworking for years. If the manager had a list of his best employees, she would not just be on it, she would appear five times before any other name. He granted her request without question, even though she still had at least two hours left on her shift. ……….. Sienna's phone buzzed on the nightstand. *Incoming Call ….Dante with red love emoji “ She sat up and answered. "About last night…." His voice came through low and even. "I'm so sorry about that." He muttered. Sienna froze. She should be the one apologising. Nobody likes to be kept waiting for almost three hours …. and certainly not the Devil himself. She had texted Dante to meet her at the hotel but hadn't arrived on time herself because her car had broken down. Anyone else in a hurry would have considered taking a cab. Anyone else except Sienna. A cab was for low class people and she was certainly not one. Even if she were dead she wouldn't let her corpse be put in a cab. She loved money and flashy living. Her family was struggling with debt but she chose to live in her fantasy rather than face reality. "It should not have happened. We are friends Sienna. I don't want anything to come between that." He confessed sincerely. That statement brought her back to reality. How she hated him calling her his friend …. she had feelings for him for the longest time. "I should be the one apologising, D." She said carefully, keeping her voice soft and steady. "What happened last night was wrong and it was entirely my fault, not yours." "I was just too drunk. It was a wonderful night but I prefer us as friends." He concluded and hung up. Her jaw dropped. Eyes wide open. She didn't even realise her hand had moved to cover her mouth. She understood it now …. all of it. He had spent the night with another woman and thought it was her. She had initially asked the bartender to drug his drinks before her car broke down and ruined everything. This explained the apology. There she was thinking her plan had failed …but it had actually gotten better. She hadn't even been in that room and somehow it had still worked.o A slow smile spread across Sienna Holt's perfectly painted lips. “ I won't just get married to the soon-to-be mafia boss,”she thought. “I'll make sure my child gets a better and more secured future.” She smiled like a villain.
