THE PERPETRATOR
Two nights later, Liz entered the police station and met Marco who led her to an interview room. She stared at the evidence bag. “That’s the mask my attacker wore. I mean, it looked exactly like that one.” She flinched at the memory of the attack. “Is he the guy who hurt me?”
Marco nodded. “It appears that way. The results of the DNA showed his identity, and with pure luck, he was arrested a number of years ago for armed robbery and assault. The mask was found in his bag. Apparently, he took over on a casual basis at the cafe near your home for the past few months to get close to you. The medication he used to drug you was also found in his bag. He stated he was ordered to drug you with your usual coffee.” Marco took a deep breath.
