A BEACH DAY OUT
They walked over to a young street girl who was obviously a runaway, lying down on a dirty blanket outside a dilapidated building that looked abandoned. The girl looked up at them, hugging her body as if fighting the cold in the warm weather. “Got a proposition for you. Interested?”

The sun glared and Liz squinted while putting on her sunglasses, the granules of sand warming the part of her calves not covered by the towel. Looking out over the water, swimmers splashed, screaming with laughter, and couples strolled hand in hand along the shore.
