Mysterious Man in My Room
Celine's Point of View
Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined myself being with someone genuine.
The feeling of being wanted was there. The anticipation and hope were there. As well as the thing everybody called fear.
All mixed up in my system, making it hard for me to choose a life-turning decision. Yet I know I shouldn't be bothered by being alone anymore. I was alone all of my life, and I never belonged anywhere.
I should get used to it.
I grabbed my phone and saw a lot of notifications popping up on my screen. One of them was from Kevin, the guy I met at the function. There's nothing special about him except that he's physically attractive and rich—but he never had a place in my heart.
"When can I see you again?" his message, sent almost an hour ago, said.
I rolled my eyes and cleared the notification bar before opening my online best friend's message. She was online even at this very late hour. I pressed the button to call her, which she eventually answered.
"Hello, Girl!" Sally exclaimed, completely opposite to what I am feeling right now. Through the screen, she saw the frown on my face that she immediately pointed out. "What's with that face, Cel?"
"Same old story," I told her.
"Kevin, again?" she snapped. "Cel, I told you many times, you were supposed to dump him! Why are you still in touch with that man?"
"I already did dump him, you know," I answered. "He just kept on pestering me. It's getting on my nerves!" I placed my phone on the bedside table before putting my chin on my hand and sighed.
"Block him!" Sally said. She has told me this a lot of times already. "What else do you want to hear from me? You know what, girl. I don't want to see you stressing out over a man, like?" She shrugged through the screen and rolled her eyes at me.
I didn't reply; I just watched her scolding me, which later sent a smile to my lips.
"You get what I mean?" she said. "All I thought was you were this independent, hardheaded woman—well, basically you are! You don't listen to me."
I just chuckled shortly when I heard her banter, but before I could even tell her a response, there was a sudden knock on my door. I paused for a minute, and the look on my face just gave Sally a sign.
"It's him again, isn't it?" she asked.
"I don't know." I stood up and took a peek in my doorway. "Wait a minute. Let me check," I said, went straight to the door, and left Sally on the table.
There, Kevin stood up, holding up some flowers in front of my face while smiling at me.
Without a word said, I closed the door.
"Wait—wait—!" he exclaimed and pushed the door open, stopping me from closing it.
I wrinkled my forehead and sharpened my eyes on him. "Haven't I told you not to come here or ever see me again!" I snapped.
"Look," Kevin muttered. "I know I disappointed you the moment I told you that I love you. I know that we were supposed to be just—"
"And let it stay that way—" I paused when I realized what I just said. "No, never mind about it. I am telling you something important right now, Kevin."
He took a small step backward when he got a signal of what I was about to say.
He isn't wrong about it. I know we were thinking the same thing.
"We are over."
When I was about to close the door again, he pushed it back open and held my arm. He dropped his flowers on the floor to get ahold of my other arm.
"Get off me!" I shouted and pulled my arms away from his grip. "Let me go!"
"What did you say?" His eyes widened. Not in shock or anger, there's something lingering inside his eyes I could barely name.
It was obsession.
That was the time I felt the fear inside me swirl. With all of my strength, I pulled my arms again, but his grip tightened on me until it hurt badly.
"Kevin, let go!" I almost cried when I saw how his finger was printed on my skin. "You are hurting me! Let me go!"
"What did you say?" he asked again as he took a step inside the door. "Did you just turn me down? After all I did for you, you just turned me down? Huh?"
His face hovered over mine. I averted my eyes, trying not to see how his eyes were conveying something.
This one is a psycho!
"Help! Somebody, please, help me!"
My outcries were never heard. Unusually, the hallway outside was empty. "Help!"
"Celine?!" Sally screamed from my phone. "Is there any problem in there?"
Kevin held me up on the wall, hands on my neck. I struggled to breathe and held his hand, hoping the soft touches would mend his anger—his spurned pride, to be exact.
"Who do you think you are for rejecting me!?" His voice cracked as his grip tightened. "I am rich; I am all you wanted! Why did you—" His line was cut off.
My body dropped on the floor when Kevin flew across the room. I held the front of my neck as I tried to catch my breath. Lack of oxygen made my vision slightly blurry, but I saw a huge figure holding Kevin up to the wall and throwing him multiple times.
Loud thuds.
Screams of pain.
Begs.
"S-stop..." Kevin mumbled between his breaths as he dragged himself away from the man.
Man...
He's not human.
"I can pay any amount you want," Kevin begged. "J-just don't—EURGH!"
The unknown silhouette raised him up again on the wall. "Do not..." a loud, growl-like voice said.
"Do not ever lay a finger on my Luna."
Consciousness drifting in and out, I tried to stay awake. I saw how Kevin nodded and went flying out of the door. Hurried steps were heard after it.
That coward ran away.
Heavy footsteps went toward me that made me drag myself away from it. I scoffed in my mind. My audacity to call Kevin a coward when I got scared of this dark figure.
The same dark figure that gradually changes into...
"Don't be scared..." he muttered. "I am not going to hurt you."
I stayed still in my place when his voice just rang right in my head. It seemed like he was telling me the truth.
That he isn't going to hurt me.
After losing a lot of energy, I let my eyes rest half-closed. I did not move even a little since the sense of safety rushed through me.
All of a sudden, he started sniffing my neck and said something that made me freeze before I lost myself in the void.
"Stay still," he said. "I smelled something on you..."
