ch 1 the unwanted proposal
Emma Carter sat in her office, completely immersed in the blueprint of a luxury hotel project. Her sharp eyes scanned every detail, making sure everything was perfect. She was known for her perfectionism, her ability to turn any design into a masterpiece.
Her phone buzzed, breaking her concentration. It was her father.
"Emma, I need you to come home for dinner tonight. It’s important," his voice was firm.
Emma sighed. She had a meeting in an hour, but she knew her father well. If he said something was important, she had no choice but to go.

That evening, Emma walked into her parents' lavish mansion. The warm, golden lighting, expensive paintings, and elegant décor gave the house a regal feel. But something felt off. Her mother was unusually quiet, and her father had a serious look on his face.
"Emma, take a seat," her father, Mr. Carter, gestured towards the couch.
As she sat, a deep voice spoke from across the room. "Nice to meet you, Miss Carter."
Emma turned her head and found herself looking at a tall, handsome man in a navy-blue suit. His sharp jawline, piercing blue eyes, and confident aura made it obvious—this man was powerful.
"Ryan Walker," he introduced himself.
Emma’s heart skipped a beat. Ryan Walker—the billionaire businessman? The heartbreaker? What was he doing here?
Her father cleared his throat. "Emma, we’ve arranged your marriage with Ryan."
Emma’s eyes widened in shock. Marriage?
Ryan smirked, leaning back against the couch. "It’s just business, sweetheart. Nothing personal."
Emma clenched her fists. She had spent her entire life building her career, staying away from unnecessary drama. And now, out of nowhere, she was being pushed into a contract marriage with Ryan Walker?
Her voice was sharp. "I’m not interested in a marriage deal, Mr. Walker."
Ryan chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Neither am I, Miss Carter. But unfortunately, your father and mine have already decided. And trust me, saying no won’t be that easy."
Emma looked at her father, hoping he would stop this nonsense. But his face held no warmth.
"You will do this, Emma," Mr. Carter said firmly. "For the family."
Emma’s world tilted. A business deal? A forced marriage? And that too with Ryan Walker—the man known for his arrogance and charm?
She had always believed that love was not for her. But now, she was trapped in a situation where love wasn’t even an option.
Little did she know, sometimes, the most unexpected situations lead to the most unexpected love.
