ELENA'S POV
My heart thudded rapidly in my chest. My mind replayed everything that had just happened. My body felt tingly from his touch, it felt alive in a way that it never had.
I traced my finger on my lips as the memory of his kiss replayed in my mind. I was starting to feel something for him that I most definitely shouldn't.
I wanted more of him and this made me feel disgusted. I shouldn’t want him! I should not be feeling what I am feeling! He is a monster.
I ignored my thoughts and continued to walked down the long passage way to my room. I was almost there when someone stopped me in my track.
Oh s**t it's Vivian!
I've not really spoken to her but according to the rest of the girls, she is not the nicest. According to Sophie and Marina, she is someone to be avoided at all cost.
I moved away from the right side of the passage-way to the left, to avoid bumping into her. I positioned my head to stare at the ground to avoid looking at her. I just want to keep a low profile as I try to understand what is really going on. As I try to understand why I am in this body, why I am now living this life as Elena when I used to be Sera. I have to keep a low profile until I figure everything out with Lyra and Thomas. I don't know why but something about them does not feel right and I feel really bad for even thinking that about Lyra since she is my… Elena's sister.
I just need to figure things out. I just need…
“Oh, hello there,” Vivian's voice startled me out of my thoughts. I froze. Sophie and Marina's warnings re-echoed in my head. Avoid Vivian at all cost!
I smiled at her politely and attempted to walk away but she blocked my way swiftly.
“ Why are you being weird? I'm just trying to be friendly or are you too posh to have friends?” She said with her arms folded on her chest and her face settled in a bratty pout.
“I…I…” I attempted to say something but instead stuttered.
Shit!
I soon heard two foot steps approaching and before I could say anything else, two other girls were standing by either of Vivian's sides. I flinched, I wanted more than anything to disappear but no such luck so I stood there praying to the moon goddess that I somehow come out of this alive.
“ Is she bothering you Vee?” One of them asked with a mean scowl on her face. She was a lot taller than the rest of us.
“Do you want us to teach her a lesson for you?” The other one added. I squirmed in fear, regretting all my life choices leading up to that moment.
“ No, no girls. We don't have to be violent all the time, right Elena?” Vivian said with a smile. I nodded quickly, begging them with my eyes and face to leave me alone.
“Besides, Elena over here is our new friend,” she added. The rest of us stood there in shock. Her two friends seemed to be wondering if she was okay while I just felt shocked but grateful that we had an understanding. I might have a slim chance of coming out of this alive.
I looked at the friendly smile on Vivian's face and begsn to wonder if Sophie and Marina had overreacted. Maybe she is not as bad as Sophie and Marina had said she was. Maybe she is just misunderstood.
“Thank you,” I mouthed. I felt giddy at the fact that Vivian considered me her friend.
“It's fine. We are going hunting in a few minutes, wanna come?” Vivian asked with the same smile on her face.
“Yes,” I smiled back. They all walked away while I skipped in happiness all the way to my room. I have friends! Maybe figuring out this new life wouldn't be so difficult after all.
I got to my room to see Sophie and Marina seated on my bed. They both had concerned looks on their faces.
“Are you alright?” Sophie asked, her brows furrowed with a mix of fear and worry.
“Was he too rough?” Marina added.
“Girls I'm fine,” I said, trying to calm them down.
“He barely even touched me,” I added and was shocked by the subtle disappointment edged in my voice. The look of disbelief on Sophie's face was identical to the one on Marina’s face.
“That is impossible. Alpha Kieran doesn't just let us bed warmers go. He sees us as nothing more than objects… objects to satisfy his beastly s****l urges,” Marina spat out in disgust.
“ I know you probably don't want to talk about it now but we are here whenever you are ready,” Sophie added as they both stood up from the bed.
“I have to go. I'm on Kitchen duties,” Sophie said after hugging me.
“Me too, I have to tend to the garden,” Marina interjected. I wanted to tell them again that Alpha Kieran had not done anything horrible to me but I knew that they would not believe me.
The little interaction I had with Vivian weighed heavily on my chest.
“Vivian invited me to go hunting with her,” I blurted out. They both turned to face me slowly, their face held looks of bewilderment.
“Don't.” Sophie said.
“Nothing good ever comes from hanging out with Vivian,” she added.
“But…” I started.
“ Elena listen to me! Vivian is worse than the devil! She is selfish, she is evil! Vivian is everything evil. Please don't go with her. It wouldn't end well for you.” Sophie interrupted. She looked like she was about to cry, Marina parted her slightly on the arm.
They don't know her. I just have to prove to them that Vivian is not as bad as they think she is. She is probably just misunderstood like I was… when I was Sera.
“She is not what you think. She was really nice to me today,” I smiled looking up at them.
“Elena Don…” Marina started.
“It's just a hunt and I'm going so don't try to change my mind,” I said and like clockwork the door flew open and one of Vivian's friends from earlier walked in.
“Vivian said to give you this,” she said with a sweet smile as she handed me some haunting gears. I looked over at Sophie and Marina. They shook their head, with a sigh they both walked away.
“Be downstairs in fifteen minutes. Vivian does not like waiting,” she added. The smile that she had morphed into a blank stare. Without another word she turned to leave.
“Wait,” I said, stopping her.
“We were never really introduced, I'm Elena, what is your name?” I asked.
“That's not of your business! Just get dressed and come downstairs,” she said with an eye roll which caught me off guard. She walked out but I could hear her muttering something under her breath.
I looked at the hunting clothes contemplatively.
Should I follow Marina and Sophie's advice and not go with Vivian and her friends? No. Sometimes friendships take time to develop. Vivian and her friends are good people, I just have to show the girls that.
I got dressed as quickly as I could and soon enough I was downstairs. After about forty-five minutes of waiting, Vivian walked in with her friends by her sides. We got horses from the stable and then we were on our way.
We continued to ride. I was enjoying the feeling of the breeze in my hair when Vivian abruptly asked us to stop for a quick break.
Things started to feel a bit awkward after we had tied our horses to the trees and they slowly started moving towards me in a circle.
Their faces held none of the fondness and smiles that it originally had. Their brows were furrowed in mean frowns. Their mouth pursed up in evil snarls and smirks.
I looked from Vivian to the other girls. I began to panic when I saw one of the girls pull a knife out of its sheath.
“Such a shame, she's quite pretty,” Vivian said as one of the girls shoved me hard against a tree with the silver knife in her hand.
