Episode 8: Dangerous Secrets

VIVIAN'S POV Arghh! This was supposed to go perfect but no! Alpha Kieran's stupid beta just had to butt in! We were going to stand there to watch the girl die but we heard some footsteps coming from the distance, so we had to run. We hid among the trees to see who it was and then that stupid Marcus walked out of the shadows. Without another word, he carried the bleeding Elena away. I wonder how much he knows. I wonder if he saw us. Oh no. No, no,no. That cannot happen. What if he tells Kerian! No, he wouldn't. I don't think he saw us. We ran away before he got there, so there's no way that he could have seen us. I did my best to keep the thoughts and fear away from my mind as I walked back into the palace using one of the tunnels whose entrance was hidden among the bushes. I walked through the hallway, hoping and praying that no one would see me. I have blood smeared on my dress, my hair and face has dirt on them. Seeing me will raise a lot of questions and suspicions that was why I opted to use the less busy hallway. Besides, all the girls will be outside by this time, so it is highly unlikely that I will be caught. I continued to tiptoe as I walked through the hallway.and then the broad lounging center. I had almost gotten to my room when the sound of someone's footsteps stopped me. My breath hitched in my throat, I turned around slowly to meet Sophie's questioning gaze. Shit! “Wh…where are you coming from?” She stuttered. Her eyes looked in my disheveled look. Her eyes dragged to the large blood stain slouched on my dress. “Wh…what is that?” She asked, her eyes widened in what looked like fear. I panicked but I knew I had to take control of the whole situation. “Since when did you start monitoring me? Huh Sophie?” I said defensively. Her eyes stayed glued to the blood stain on my dress which tried to cover with my palm even though that was impossible. Sophie looked like she had seen a ghost. “I heard that Elena had been stabbed. Did you do it?” She asked as drops of tears fell from her eyes, the startled look she had originally had turned into a horrified one. “I…I…” I stuttered. I wanted to defend myself, to lie that I did not do it but for some reason the words would come. “I have to tell Alpha Kieran about this,” Sophie said as she made to walk away. No, I cannot let her do that! If she tells Alpha Kieran about the blood, if she tells him about me sneaking out, about my involvement in what happened to Elena, then I'm done-for. Sophie turned, she looked determined to tattle-tell, but luckily for me I know how to shut her up. Everybody has a secret, you just have to find the right time to blackmail them with those secrets. “You can tell him if you want, I am not even going to try to stop you. Although I don't think the Alpha will spare you if he finds out about Brittany,” I said, and as I presumed, the mention of Brittany's name made Sophie stop dead in her tracks. I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. These bedwarmers, sometimes I just have to show them who's boss. “Wh…what do you know about Brittany,” she stuttered. I could see the fear in her face, her voice was literally trembling. So much for being determined to tell Alpha Kieran. “Nothing except that she's your daughter, and you know what happens to bed warmers with children? No, actually this doesn't affect you, it only affects your daughter, Brittany,” I taunted. Her eyes were beginning to well up in tears, she was starting to sniffle. Pathetic. “Please don't. H…he will kill my baby. Please don't tell him,” she begged. Tears coursed down her face, her hands trembled. It looked like the porcelain tea cup she was holding was going to fall but somehow it didn't. Hmmm. “But you know the rules. You know that a bed warmer is not supposed to have a child unless that child is killed by Alpha Kieran himself,” I said, taunting her. She looked like she wanted to disappear. Pathetic. At this point, I know that I had her in my palms. She will do whatever I want, she will even kill me if I ask. It is a really strange thing; the bound between a mother and child. Such a shame that I have to blackmail Sophie with that bound, but I really don't care because I'll end up getting what I want. “Please don't tell,” she cried. Like a predator sizing up it's prey, I walked around her in a circle. I like how much power I have over her right now. “Well, the way I see it, we can both help each,” I said, and then waited a bit for that to sink it. Dramatic pause… they call it. “You can help me by not telling Alpha Kieran what you saw, and I will help you by not mentioning Brittany to him. That way we are both safe. Your daughter, Brittany and I,” I concluded with a triumphant smile. “But you hurt her. I cannot just keep my mouth shut. She is my friend,” she cried. Arrgh! “Okay then, I will have to tell Alpha Kieran about Brit. Can I call her that? Since we are both becoming fast friends,” I replied doing my best to hide my panic. What if she decides that getting justice for Elena is more important than keeping her daughter alive? What if this backfires and Alpha Kieran somehow doesn't believe me when I tell him about Sophie's child? I mean I had thought the whole thing was a rumor until today… until now when she basically confirmed it. “Okay fine. I won't say anything,” Sophie finally conceded. “I'm glad we have an understanding.” The Palace bell went off. This means that Alpha wants everyone in the large hall. Sophie and I both dispersed. With our veils on we made our way to the hall. We walked in to our designated space in the back row of the sitting space meant for the elites. Sophie quickly moved to sit next to her friend Marina while I sat with Amber and Estelle. We all rose from our seats as Alpha Kieran walked in. Normally, he walks in with his Luna by his side, but his third Luna died from pneumonia three months ago, Elena was supposed to be his new Luna, but thankfully, she tried to commit suicide, and now she's one of us; a lowly bed warmer. Well she was, now she is most likely dead. I smiled to myself. Soon Alpha Kieran will be mine forever. Alpha Kieran sat down on his throne. We all sat down too. His beta, Marcus, walked in. “How is she?” Alpha Kieran asked. He looks angry…way angrier than usual. “She's not doing well Alpha,” Marcus answered. Wait, she's still alive? Dammit! “She is of royal blood, we had dared to do that to her!” Alpha Kieran growled. His eyes shone amber. The whole court went into a panicked frenzy. “Silence!” Alpha Kieran yelled, shutting everybody down quickly. "Whoever did this will feel my wrath. Their head will be hung at the highest pinnacle of the palace as a warning to others," he said. His hands balled in a fist. “Marcus,” he called. “Yes Alpha.” “Find out who tried to do this!” Kieran growled. “There will be no need for that. I already know who had tried to kill Elena,” Marcus answered, looking directly at me. Oh no!
