King Avner was waiting for them. It was already midnight.
Dino and Ernani were also awake. They led the children to a room.
"I'll get some of Egon's night clothes," Lady Lumina offered. "Clean the children, please," she asked Dino and Ernani nicely.
"Yes, King-Mother!" The two bowed their heads and obeyed the gentle order. They washed the children in the bathroom. The kids even brushed their teeth.
There were fifteen rescued youngsters. A young maid had delivered the night clothes.
"Lady Lumina is cleaning herself," the maid announced shyly. "I'll help you dress the children."
"Thank you, Inez," Dino said gratefully.
"Come to our room, Daphne. The children are in good hands," King Avner whispered to her.
Daphne was already asleep on her feet when King Avner had carried her.
