Chapter Eleven

*s****l Abuse Trigger Warning* Mel peeked out from her window that had a view of the driveway. She watched as an expensive-looking, black car pulled in. Her parents, the Alpha pair, and the Beta pair flocked to the car. Mel contemplated going down the stairs and seeing what had her parents and the other leader so on edge, but she was quickly reminded that was a bad idea. "Rocco," Mel said, pulling the rock out of her pocket. "I think my mommy and dad are scared. They yelled at me a lot to not to come out of my room until they said too." The small girl stared at the rock as if it were answering her back. "They didn't tell me who was coming. I asked, but dad just slapped me, hard." Mel narrowed her eyes at the rock and shoved it back into her pocket. "I can't run away, Rocco. They'll catch me and hurt me more. I need to see why mommy and dad are so scared." Mel focused her eyes out of the window just in time to see the car door open. Her eyes were glued as a giant, papery-skinned man crammed himself out of the car. The man looked terrifying as he stood talking to the leader of her pack. All of them were shaking in his presents. "Rocco," Mel whispered. "I get why they're scared now." The man, with his arms, crossed over his chest began to look around. Mel knew at that moment that he had heard her, yet she couldn't move. She watched as the man's eyes slowly glided to her window and froze on her. They were black and lifeless. Like the man had lost himself long ago and was only a shell. Not even acknowledging her parents further, the man gave Mel the most frightening smile she had ever seen. His teeth were perfectly straight, but they were stained a deep maroon as if he had eaten paint. But Mel knew, they were not stained with paint, but blood. Even as Mel came back into the moment she stayed as still as when she was disassociated. Not much had come back to her, but it was enough to know nothing good was coming of this. Every nerve in her body was screaming at her to run. To run until she passed out and would never wake up. But at the same time, she knew there was no running from this. He was coming for her because he wanted her dead. He wasn't just going to stop because she ran. "I want to go back to the packhouse." Mel was certain Jax and Achilles were talking, but frankly, all she could hear was noise. She just got up and started walking. Mel didn't care if they were following her, she just wanted to go to her bed and hide. Eventually, she shifted with no care for her clothes. She just ran until she got to the packhouse. Then she shifted in the woods and stole somebody's hidden clothes. Everything was blurry until she got into her room. That's when the tears began to flow. They flowed because she was scared, but also because she couldn't remember why she should be. Mel pulled her body off of her bed and to the mirror. She looked at her puffy eyes and felt hatred seep out of her. "Why can't you remember anything!" She shouted at herself. "Why are you so useless and stupid! People are going to die because of you!" She raised the sides of her balled hands and began to slam them into the mirror. "Nobody will ever care about you because you don't deserve it. I hope he kills you and ends it all. You pathetic b***h!" Mel collapsed into a lump of blood in tears on the bathroom floor, efficiently passing out. Achilles dashed through the door just as she hit the ground. He lifted his mate effortlessly and put her on the bed. Her hands were bleeding and not healing, just as before. He softly growled at himself. I should have been here earlier, he growled to himself. Jax slowly walked into the room to see Achilles leaning over a bleeding Mel. His brain was quick to try and locate what they would need to fix her up, but getting Achilles away from her would be a different story. "Achilles," Jax said. "You need to give her some space. You're letting her bleed quite a bit and that is not helping her." Achilles growled but got up, "I'm mind-linking the pack doctor and my Gamma as we speak. If anybody is not helping it's you." "Yeah, okay," Jax scoffed as he grabbed a dish towel and a first aid kit. He wetted the dish towel and glanced at the mirror, "I think I found the culprit." Achilles walked to his side and nodded. He had already figured that was the case but was in too much of a stupor of self-hatred and mind-link to care. Jax sat next to Mel and opened the first aid kit. He could feel Achilles' eyes on the back of his head and he grabbed the tweezers from the set. Jax began to pull small shards out of Mel's hand. Luckily his doctoring was short-lived as two people entered the room. He put down the tweezers as a short woman in scrubs came over to Mel. "Alpha," she greeted while bowing her head. "I'll fix her up quickly and check on her when she wakes up." "Good," Achilles said with brevity. Jax followed Achilles to the corner of the room, with who must have been his Gamma. She was rather tall with dark skin and hair. She also had a noticeable scar just above her right eyebrow that made her look tough as nails. "This is Beta Jax from Dark Fang," Achilles introduced quickly. "I'm Brianna, the Gamma. It's great to meet you Beta." Jax shook her hand, "It's nice to meet you too. And call me Jax." She shot him a pearly smile which Jax returned. "Brianna, I need you to figure out why she isn't healing. I know you are good at this stuff." "Straight to the point as always, " Brianna laughed. "But, yeah. I can take some blood and then when she wakes up I can..." Brianna trailed off as her mind went through all of the tests and possibilities as it always did. She eyed Mel and immediately began to wander to her and Sabrina, the pack doctor. "I can tell she loves her work. Mel's in good hands with them," Jax remarked. Achilles nodded and realized Jax was right, for once. Speaking of Jax, he needed to find out everything he knew. "Let's go to my office," Achilles all but demanded. "Yeah, probably smart." Achilles led Jax down the extensive halls and doors until they got to his office. He opened the door and sat behind his splintered desk. Achilles winced in remembrance and covered it in papers. "Are you sure that it is Circes that is after Mel? Because that is a big thing to just throw around." "You heard her, man. She remembers him and he is at Dark Fang borders as we speak. I'm not trying to mess with you, I don't want anybody to die." "How can we be sure? She can't even remember anything about her childhood!" Achilles shouted in frustration. "Don't you dare be mad at her. We don't know half of what she has been through. We need to be patient and make sure she tells us anything she remembers, but we can't push her or else she will break." Achilles fought the urge to smash his desk again, "Then how are we going to fight off Circes then? Huh? The crazy asshole eats other wolves. He is one of the only people in the world that I know could give me a fight. I do not doubt that he will kill your entire pack, Jax. So tell me, should we wait for him to find Mel and kill her?" "I don't know! If I could read minds you'd like me a whole lot more!" The two men sat breathing heavily. Jax tilted his head slightly, "You smell that?" "What the hell are you talking about? The door burst open to reveal a disheveled looking Bentley. His eyes immediately landed on Jax. "Mate," Bentley growled. "You've got to be f*****g kidding me," Achilles groaned out. Jax sat speechless as he stared at the man before him. He had finally found his mate. His tall, hunk of a mate. Jax stood up and gave Bentley the biggest grin he could muster. Bentley shared the same expression. "Okay, so I'm going to leave my office now." "I can't believe I finally found you, " Bentley said as the door shut. Jax responded by wrapping Bentley in a bear hug, which was short-lived as he pushed away growling. He could smell another man on his mate. Jax's wolf growled dangerously in his chest. "Wha- oh s**t! No, you don't get it!" "What?" Jax's growled. Bentley sighed, "All I did was hug Alpha Dawson. He's not even gay, just super friendly. And now I know more about helping Mel so it's fine right?" Jax felt relief flow through him, "Yes. Just as long as you know you're mine now. No more friendly hugs." Bentley smirked, "Got it, Cheif." Before Jax could say anything Bentley smashed his lips to Jax's. They moved together roughly and needily. They both had waited so long for this moment. They had finally met their other halves. ****************************** Mel and Achilles sat on the bed with their legs hanging over the end. Mel had been conscious for a few minutes before Achilles came through the door. "So they're really mates?" Mel asked. "Unfortunately for me, because that annoying brat is going to want to stay here." Mel laughed, "Jax isn't so bad. Besides, I think they are perfect for each other." Achilles shook his head, " A bit too perfect. They are going to kill me." "Not on my watch," Mel retorted. Achilles smiled at her before his face fell, "You know you're going to have to tell me what you saw soon." Mel shook her head violently, "I-I can't do that." Achilles felt a heavy feeling flood through his chest. He knew it was time. "Fine. When I was young, about seven I think, my parents got me and my sister a new babysitter. She must have been in her mid-thirties and was one of my mom's friends." Achilles drew in a deep breath. "My parents left for a conference one night and she was watching us. She put my sister to bed early, which she was not happy about. I didn't mind because that meant I could watch my cartoons instead of baby shows. She came down the stairs and sat close to me. Too close. She said that if I did what she said and didn't tell my parents then she would give me a new toy the next time she watched us." Achilles' eyes glassed over and his breathing became heavier, "I-I didn't know. I was so young and I trusted her. She touched me and made me touch her back. I can still remember the smell of her coconut and lime perfume. I can remember what she would say. Good job Illies. You're such a good little boy. So smart and handsome. My dark prince." Achilles stopped as he couldn't hold back the tears. He quickly whipped them away angrily. She didn't deserve to make him cry. "It went until I was fourteen. How didn't I know? I'm a guy, I'm supposed to be strong. I'm a f*****g Alpha I should have been able to stop it. But I was weak and stupid and-" "You were a kid, Achilles! That disgusting, vile, b***h of a woman is to blame. She violated a child. One that trusted her," Mel growled dangerously. "I'm going to kill her. I am going to tear her apart." "You-you're not ashamed of me?" Mel felt anger burning through her like a raging fire. Who had made him think like that? She would torture and kill them all slowly. "Achilles," she said looking into his eyes. "I will never be ashamed of you. You are strong, smart, and brave. If somebody made you feel like you should be ashamed, they are the ones that should be ashamed. Because they are horrible people that deserve to burn in Hell. I am proud to call you my mate. You deserve to be loved." Achilles wrapped his arms around Mel. She was right. He deserved love. And his parents didn't deserve his love anymore. *********** Boy, oh boy. That was a roller coaster. I hope you all enjoyed and aren't crying buckets like I am. Love you all.
