It takes the rest of that day for my body to beat the remaining paralyzing nanos. At seven o’three in the evening, a full sixty-three days since leaving Natalie, the brutal attack on my nanocells had been completely vanquished. I stand and tense the muscles of my arms, back, neck and legs.
“I’ll be right back,” I say to Oscar just before fragging immediately to Natalie’s and Livia’s room. It’s dark inside the room. Not a single light is on. They both should be here sleeping, but the room is empty. To make matters worse, the place is completely ransacked. The mattresses are gone, and most everything else is knocked over or shoved onto the floor.
