Jess flinched as weapons fire struck just above his head. In theory the shield his implants generated should protect him against two or three strikes, but he wasn’t counting on that when facing robots built from similar technology to the Wanderer’s.
One of his robots and a drone immediately targeted the source of the attack, forcing the Guardian’s robot back into cover, but Jess knew it was a futile gesture. The attackers were getting closer and closer. Soon they’d be ready to attack in force.
