Chapter 24
As soon as Nova woke she knew something was wrong. The covers weren’t as warm as they should be. Normally having both her and Karina under them made for a comfortable warmth, despite the chill temperature of the hub, but today that was missing.
Panic gripped her. She knew she’d secured Karina and herself the night before. Karina must have gotten loose somehow, and that meant she was having a bad day. She and Nova had discussed the bad days enough that Karina was happy to tolerate them being bound together while asleep when she was having good days.
The ripped up sheet she used for the purpose was still attached to her. She moved and was surprised to feel resistance. Had Karina tied something else in place to make it less likely Nova would notice?
