Chapter 15
Nova woke slowly. Her body was warm, something that rarely happened when waking up, and it made her mind want to remain asleep. Finally something wormed its way in, a thought that woke her fully with a start. Where was Karina?
She leapt up, eyes scanning what she could see of the room, but the old woman was nowhere to be seen. Nova started to panic. What if Karina had wandered off and triggered some alarms? Or gone directly to find one of the guards?
Heart pounding, Nova moved carefully around the central pillar, ears straining for any hint of other people waiting for her. She reached one corner, peeked around… and found Karina standing near one of the display screens, her arms crossed and a frown on her face. Nova let out her breath noisily, which made the old woman
