15. She's Dangerous.

~XANDER~ Having breakfast before leaving for work... It had been a long time since I tried that. Let's just say from the time my company picked up pace. I'd usually buy takeout on my way to work if I were hungry or during lunch hour. But the realization that she was thoughtful enough to make me breakfast—even though it wasn't just me she made it for—tugged at my heartstrings. I had never eaten any food prepared by any lady I had anything to do with. Then why did I agree to sit tight while she dished out the food? The answer was simple, because she was slowly becoming more than just the girl I had something with. That should scare me and drive me into running off. But here I was, watching her set the plate down with hands that seemed like they knew what they were doing, and a smile that stirred something deep within my soul. She was trouble. The fact that my body was reacting to her in that manner made her dangerous. "Very dangerous," my thoughts screamed, but I sat right, even angry that Ace referred to me as a fairy godmother. But I wasn't just angry at Ace. The main anger was at myself. I had lived the past years of my life, committed to hiding away from the very people who killed my parents. Those whom I knew were still looking for me. I had to change my last name to Andy's family name right after they adopted me during my teenage years. That way, I stayed hidden, in plain sight, while exhausting the list of people Andy and I drew as my parents' possible killers. My revenge plan hadn't fully kicked in because I had yet to nail the assassin and his cohorts to the ground. We were already close— my boys, Andy and I. So this is the worst timing for my heart to betray my resolve. Andy had advised against any romantic feelings. At least until my parents' deaths were avenged. Then what was my heart doing? Not just my heart, the rest of my damn body, my c**k especially, that would twitch at the sight of her. Just like now. I had instructed her to eat with us. Where was my earlier resolve to shove down my feelings and be neutral with her? But then I mentally shrugged. It was absolutely right for her to eat with us. Of course, my c**k agreed with me, twitching in response to my gaze that was rolling up and down her lusciously, curvaceous figure as she neared the dining table with her plate of noodles in hand and a glass of juice on the other. That smile she sported when I'd asked her to join us was still there, as she resettled beside me, pouting slightly. My mouth watered, and I mentally slapped myself. ‘You were supposed to be getting over this silly feeling, Xander.’ "Hmmm! Yummy!" Ace hummed beside me after taking a forkful of noodles, alerting me that there was also a plate in front of me. I dragged my gaze away from Luna's pouty lips to the sumptuous-looking noodles, garnished with eggs, both fried and boiled, with veggies, just as I liked them. Yummy. My mouth watered, and I was thankful that it wasn't because of Luna's lips this time. "God! Luna!" Ace moaned over a mouthful of noodles, causing my body to stiffen as I grabbed hold of the fork. "What do I have to do to get you to make this meal for me every day?" He asked, causing me to eye him with a cutting look, which he was oblivious to. A soft chuckle escaped Luna's lips, dragging my gaze to her. "It's no biggie, I can make it every day if you want." My hold on the fork tightened alongside my jaw as I contemplated throwing it at Ace or digging into the noodles instead. "You don't like noodles?" Her voice halted my inner contemplation, sliding my gaze up to her. Apparently, she mistook my inner turmoil for reluctance. God! No. "Of course, I do," I muttered, throwing her a convincing look as I decided against throwing Ace the fork and using it on the noodles that were calling for my attention. I brought a forkful of noodles to my lips, aware of her hopeful gaze as I brought it to my lips, using my lips to drag the noodles into my mouth. As soon as it hit my taste buds, a deep throaty groan escaped my lips, my eyes snapping shut to savor the sweetness of the noodles. "God! I had never had noodles this bloody tasty." As much as I wanted to kill Ace for suggesting she make it for him every day, I couldn't help but see reasons for his request. But that didn't mean it was happening anyway. When my eyes finally fluttered open to meet her gaze and gauge her reaction, she was grinning. A hearty, smug grin that hit right into my soul, prompting an equally hearty smile from my lips. The first of its kind since today. "I take it that you like it?" She asked, her eyes laced with a hopeful glint. "Was I not being obvious enough, dewdrop?" I desperately wanted to say, but settled for, "I love it." Her eyes flashed, that hopeful glint replaced with a spark that emphasized how excited she was. God! Her smile... "So that means you are in on her making it for us every day, yeah?" My killing thought was resurrected again. I sliced a murderous look his way. I bloody couldn't help it. Ace had recently developed a flair for riling me up. "If you wanna have noodles every day, fine by me, but you don't need to turn her into a personal chef to achieve that, Ace," I grunted out, enjoying the surprised look that registered on her face. Luna's chuckles filled the room. "I seem to remember that she said it's no biggie. Why is your butt itching?" I had a revenge plan on my head; if not, I didn't mind going to jail for slicing and dicing Ace. Still, the thought seemed very charming. Tempting. "There are people who are paid to do that, Ace. She's not turning into your personal chef when we have one." I replied in a lethally soft voice that I was sure carried the desired venom, as I slid in another forkful of noodles. God! I could get used to this heavenly meal. "But—" I sliced him a scowl, amid my silent chewing. "Enjoy the one you got. It's getting cold." A groan of protest left his lips, but I couldn't care less as I chewed on, taking a sip of the juice Ace got from the freezer. "Don't worry, Ace. I will make another." I heard her pacify, and my gaze flew to her. The pleading look in her eyes and the way she slightly ducked her head made my heart flutter. Repeatedly. God! Luna! I blinked before blessing her with a smile, which she returned without hesitation. As far as neutrality went, I was probably halfway there. Hopefully.
