Lucas returned to the Romano Empire. He was the head of the empire and hadn’t set foot there in the past three years, but now he was back to take full control of his inheritance.
As he arrived at the entrance of the luxurious mansion, the grandeur of the place was truly astonishing. The grand gates reminded him of his responsibility and duty as the head of this empire. He entered the empire and was stopped by some security guards who recognized him based on his appearance.
“Why are you here? Who are you looking for?” they asked him curiously.
“I’m here to see Edward Spencer,” Lucas replied.
The security guards laughed at Lucas because he didn’t look like someone who would know a man like Edward Spencer. Lucas was dressed very simply and modestly, and his appearance didn’t command any authority or indicate that he could be the influential man capable of matching Edward Spencer’s level.
“If you know what’s good for you, you better start leaving before we throw you out of here,” the security guard said to Lucas.
There was no reason to convince them anymore because they didn’t believe that he could meet with Edward Spencer. So, Lucas simply took out his phone, called Edward Spencer, and informed him that he was at the gate.
“I’m currently at the gates, Edward Spencer, and your security guards are refusing me entry into my empire,” Lucas said as he spoke to Edward.
After a brief pause, Edward’s voice came through, quickly informing him that he would be there in a minute to pick him up personally. The security guards were still skeptical, thinking that Lucas was only playing a trick on them, but they were surprised when they heard Lucas address Edward Spencer by name without any formal title. Additionally, Lucas referred to the empire as “his own,” not Edward Spencer’s.
“You definitely have some guts. But if you wait here for too long and nothing happens, we’ll make sure to teach you a lesson so you won’t go around deceiving others with your fake identity,” the guard said.
They had planned to throw him out of the empire as soon as no one came to his rescue. But just as they were speaking, they saw Edward Spencer rushing toward the gate.
It was shocking to see Edward Spencer running toward the gates. What could have made him act this way? It certainly couldn’t be because of this young man who looked like a loser.
Edward rushed to the gates, shouting for the security guards to open up, which they did immediately. He then ran to Lucas and bowed down before him.
“Mr. Luca Romano, the head of the Romano Empire! It’s a great honor to see your face after all these years,” Edward Spencer greeted, shocking the security guards. They had no choice but to bow as well. They now realized they were in serious trouble for failing to recognize who Lucas was.
Lucas instructed Edward to stand up, and when the security guards pleaded for forgiveness, he mercifully forgave them. He advised them never to judge anyone based on their appearance.
Edward also gave the guards a stern warning, informing them who Luca was and reminding them never to stop him from entering the empire, since he was the owner of the entire estate, and they were meant to serve him.
Lucas quickly entered the mansion. He had missed the beauty of the place, the grandeur, the majesty, and the feelings that came from luxury, while Edward followed him from behind.
The security guards were astonished to learn that someone like Lucas was the head of the empire. They had heard rumors that he had gone missing for three years, and now he was back.
As Lucas approached the main entrance, he found the maids and guards all at his service, as Edward had already informed them about his return. They greeted him unanimously, bowing respectfully.
“Good day, young master,” they all said.
Lucas wasn’t concerned with their allegiance; he had been used to it for a long time. It was part of the reason he had decided to take a break, but now, he would be hearing these greetings much more often. He nodded to them in acknowledgment and continued forward, eager to see the mansion.
As he entered, he found that everything looked the same as when he had left three years ago. The mansion was still majestic in design, with its grandeur still intact. Edward had been a good servant, keeping everything in order during the time Lucas had been away.
“Are you finally back, young master?” Edward asked, trying to confirm whether Lucas was back for good.
“Yes, I’m finally back, and this time, I’m ready to take over the empire and handle the business dealings that come with it,” Lucas replied.
At that moment, Lucas ordered the maids and guards to prepare a lavish feast to celebrate his return. A grand banquet began, and Edward led Lucas to the dining room, where all types of food and drinks were served for him to enjoy.
After Lucas had eaten his fill, he decided to head to the study room, where business matters were traditionally discussed between him and Edward, his butler.
Edward knew that this was the place Lucas would likely go, so he requested to join him.
That night, they discussed how life had been for the past three years. Lucas informed Edward about his marriage to Sophia and the outcome. Edward also updated him on the company’s growth, saying it had been in good shape but could benefit from Lucas’s return.
“I’m ready to take over the empire and take full control of its activities. You’ve done a great job, Edward, and I’m really proud of you,” Lucas said, praising Edward for his diligence.
“I’ve always prayed for the day when you would return, and I’m glad you finally did. I’ll present ownership of the empire to you and keep you updated on the income of the empire and the other sectors it has expanded into during your absence. There’s been significant growth. I think you should know about it,” Edward said, then handed Lucas a document containing details about all the companies, industries, malls, restaurants, hotels, and other investments under the Romano Empire.
Lucas was surprised to learn that the Romano Empire had experienced such significant expansion. At this rate, it was the top empire in the world, and no other empire could come close to its success.
As they were going through the documents, Lucas received a message on his phone.
He picked it up to read the message and discovered that it was an invitation from a family friend. The Hamilton family, who had been close to the Caruso family, was celebrating their anniversary and wanted him to be present for the event. Lucas was no longer part of the Caruso family, so at first, he considered not going. However, on second thought, he realized that the Hamilton family had been helpful to him and had never shown any disdain toward him. He decided to honor their invitation.
He would attend the celebration not as a hero, but as Luca—the same Luca who had once been seen as poor and insignificant, the one they had always believed him to be.
